"Tails, are tomatoes a fruit or a vegetable?" Sonic asked suddenly while laying underneath the tree's shade. Tails was working on the Tornado next to him.
"It really depends on how you slice it, Sonic. Botanically, fruits are things that grow from the fertilized ovary of a flower. So, corn, eggplants, cucumbers, tomatoes, all of those are technically a fruit."
"So tomatoes are a fruit?"
"Yes, but to a chef, fruits are used to create desserts while vegetables are served with the main meal. One wouldn't really consider beans a fruit or a dessert, would they?" Tails shrugged, leaning back on the tornado.
"Well, today I learned I guess. Thanks."
"Now, bananas! This is where it gets interesting. Bananas don't grow on trees, they actually grow on what we call a succulent stalk or pseudostem. And because they don't have ovaries, this would make them herbs or berries, but more so an herb becauseā¦"
Tails trailed on, no longer focusing on the Tornado. Sonic rolled his eyes but listened to Tails continuing to geek out with his science facts, as watching him enthusiastically explain something more than made up for the lack of interest Sonic had in the subject now.
