Chapter 28

To Find Another...

A/N 12/17/19 10:23 pm

At the time of this writing this chapter is finally done. Though it's far from what you probably expected it to be and what I had hoped for it to turn out. Next chapter will hopefully be the last thing I ever add to this story other than switching the 'incomplete' to 'complete' as I am mentally done with this story after 3 years.

Will there be a sequel? Probably not with how I plan on ending this. At best for my sakes the next chapter will be ready by the time New Year's hits. If anything there will be one final addition in 2020 back afterwards that's it.

I have a few ideas on how a Caretaker style story would go, but I guarantee it won't be a continuation of this or in the same style (well, that part is debatable) since looking back I can't help but cringe at my own work. At best if some random bastard one day PMs me and asks to rewrite this story then by all means you have my full go.

If you are actually reading this, there are more notes at the bottom. But at the time of this one being made this might be my second to last note for this story.

Some say that when an event of unimaginable proportions happens before your very eyes or you hear information that in the back of your head always thought wasn't true suddenly became reality; the world would become silent at that moment.

For the gathered group of men in the middle of their wrecked camp and incircled by dinosaurs, the very thoughts that ran through their minds was that they must have died earlier if they truly heard the t-rex just speak in perfect English. Moore especially thinking that he picked up some foreign sickness was speechless when the question was directed towards him with such force he felt that angry politicians seemed tame compared to this.

After counting exactly 30 seconds, Rexy asked again, "I will ask only one more. What did you DO?!"

"Rexy," Track's voice caught her attention again as it did before. This time loud enough for the men to actually hear, "The level of equipment Alex has is very extensive. Even from a room's worth away, I was able to see the extensive bandages and heavy amounts of blood and chemical smells. From the weaponry we took from the others I can only assume he was shot by something meant for our kind."

This made the queen send a stink eye towards the crowd. Those that brought the man from the island suddenly feeling as though a devil had come to make them pay. And Rexy could smell it, the fear those men were radiating was as strong as a dumpster fire blowing in the wind.

"You," it wasn't directly addressed to anyone in particular, but the word itself struck the minds of those who knew who she was talking to. "Step forward. Now."

With several glances around and no way out, several men came shuffling out. Some that look like they were ready for combat and others like they literally just got out of bed. Bruce was the first to stand before the giant. Feeling a bead of sweat come down his forward he resisted the urge to wipe it away.

"Now~ What were you and your men doing on my island? And what did you do that I should bite all your heads off!?"

Several of the men jumped back, others raising their guns. But what happened in that brief second amazed them and scared them.

Several dinos that even had some resemblance of hands aimed massive guns, guns that were just like the ones they had, at everyone. Even the little laser sights could be seen moving on those that had weapons. With a firm hard stomp, Inda inched closer to the back of the group.

"Drop 'em," she ordered, "or I get to have a nice snack after the trip here." She enthused by licking her top teeth. While Rexy didn't want her to be crazy, she wasn't out of the realm of possibility that if she had to cut through what Alex described as 'red tape' to get further along then she wouldn't stop the hybrid.

With little resistance and probably some silent prayers, anyone with a gun in their hands carefully dropped them to the ground.

"All of them," Inda added knowing that after the first and second batch of humans she's fought had more than just their primary weapons with them they would try to hide them.

Feeling even wearier they complied. Several handguns and knives, even an unarmed grenade clattering to the ground in a spread out heap. Suddenly there was movement from the wall and at least a dozen compies came running into the group. Some men moving their legs to avoid getting bitten but shocked to see them actually gather the weapons from their feet and haul them away.

Seeing such actions made Moore shake his head in disbelief. "How in gods fucking name-"

"You humans forget, we all can learn very quickly." The remark made Inda and several others, even Athena, set out a devilish smirk. "Now answer her."

Licking his lips from the extreme dryness to overtake him, Bruce took looked back to Moore for the go-ahead. With a firm nod, given that how in the hell would this information really be useful to animals, he began. "Our intended mission was to make our away to the control center in the northern part of the park-"

"Yet you came from the river," Inda added in.

Bruce briefly nodded, "There were two teams. One lead by Lueitenat Coriss and on by myself. Coriss was to dock at the main ferry station and head through the park to the control center to get communications to our camp here and clear out any possible threats and capture any assets we could." The last five words made a rumble of growls come from all around him.

He continued, "My team was to head up the river towards the northeast and tagged any possible assets," another, much stronger round of growls came, "To be tracked later for capture and transport."

"To where?"

Moore spoke up, "That's classified."

There was a loud roar and crash from a newly crushed vehicle near the line where an armored triceratops came marching up towards the group.

"WE CAN GIVE TWO SHITS LESS ABOUT YOUR 'CLASSIFIED' CRAP." Athena seethed. Nose horn low and dangerously close to possibly stabbing someone if she went for the charge.

"Athena." Rexy called with a calm but commanding tone. Athen snorted once blowing the hats off some before turning and slowly returning back to her spot next to Rexy.

"But as said, where were you planning to take us?" Moore went to speak again but she cut him off, "And if you dare try to worm your way around the truth, I will let Inda eat you first."

There was a low growl/purr from behind them that made several men including Moore tense up for the reaction the hybrid gave when Rexy made her promise.

"Our... 'head' of the operation was of someone by the name of Wu, Henry Wu. According to him, we were to establish contact from the Nublar command center for supplies, manpower, and equipment along with transporting any potential assets we came across that was deemed 'high value' to be shipped to him."

"For what?"

He shrugged, "Don't know. We weren't disclosed that information. We were just told what had to be done and be paid for it. After some time he gathered what we needed and here we are. The plan was to do it at night while most animals were asleep to avoid complications. One team for the direct route, the other for tagging. But it didn't go as planned..."

"Such as your main group that tried to go straight through our home."

He nodded, "They were deemed KIA since last radio contact nearly 2 days ago. No contact since."

There was a little wave of chuckles from the dinos; even Rexy, Athena and Inda were part of it. It made the men feel more insecure given that they were honestly laughing about killing their fellow soldiers.

"Oh... you humans truly are dumber than you think," Rexy said feeling a bit prideful at how they were fast to assume such outcome. "Ironic it seems, for humans to come and try to contain us again, they wouldn't think they would be the ones to fall victim to their own ideas."

This actually shocked some.

"What did you do to them?" Moore stressed feeling that there was some hope he wouldn't be telling his higher-ups or families that he lost a group or a high ranking officer.

"Contained them. Put them in cages where they belonged. Though it wasn't without some difficulty. They were armed with equipment different than the previous times you invaded. While the loss of your vehicles really didn't do much for us, other things did." There was a toothy grin at the end.

Knowing what she as about to do, Tracks leaned back again to speak, "Are you sure we should do this? I know shock and awe is already high but exposing that might change things. They'll question how we can even do that."

"I know. But if it's one thing Alex has said, sometimes being eye level is enough to make anything go your way."

"I hope you know what you're doing..."

With a small nod, Tracks hopped off her head gliding down to sit on top of Athen's back. The three horn along with practically the entire herd was now turned to watch as their leader slowly stepped forward. The humans immediately felt as though they were about to get stomped on and moved back. But as Rexy pulled back her head it seemed like it went much further back than it should of.

In fact, her entire body seemed to pull in several places. Her small arms began pulling more towards the sides instead of in front of her with an ever-growing defined shoulder and elbow with her two-fingered claw actually splitting into 4 thinner ones with a smaller nub growing into a thumb with both forearms extending out while at the same time shrinking. Her head moved further back like her neck was retracting itself till it sat roughly the same distance a normal human head was on their shoulders.

Rexy's entire body from there on seemed to collapse itself. Legs, torso, and tail thinning out with the thighs being more on top of the knees and the wide feet becoming closer together. Like the next her tail was like it was retracting until it was probably a fifth of its original size. To top it all off her torso shrunk. collapsed and expanded at the same time with the top park quickly becoming bulker with a much slimmer body.

All the while rapidly losing height until she was roughly under 10 feet did it appear that clothing seemed to morph out from her hid covering the basic areas a human would cover.

Watching it unfold, literally, made many of the humans step back away from the t-rex. Not caring that they were backing closer to Inda as some tried to stop themselves from vomiting each time the sound of snapping muscle or cracking bone reached their ears

When all was said and done, what some could only describe as an amazon women warrior combined with a lizard standing 8 foot with battle scars and muscle that made several men want to cringe or whistle. Some going as far as staring at the unimaginable bust she had.

What got Moore's attention real quick was how she was dressed. She looked more like a military leader than what Moore would expect. Then again what did he expect? A heavily padded vest that strained due to her size, dark brown jacket with its sleeves torn off from just below the shoulders, camouflage pants that were also ripped from just above the knees with 2 belts having to hold them up.

It was clear to many where the divide of muscle or just normal bulk were and then blurred. While the head still retained the basic t-rex her arms and legs were a bit different. Her arms were more filled out with her 'hand-claws' looking much more like actual human hands that faded into a much lighter shade of her hid color with some really sharp looking fingernails that would be pretty much-considered claws.

"What the fucking hell..." Moore said under his breath as he took in the sudden change. Flinching whenever she would crack something that was still loud enough for everyone to hear.

Taking in a deep breath to feel her lungs expand and exhaled, gaze focused on Moore but to others, it felt like her gaze was cast upon them like a brief knife to the throat.

"But let us just say... They won't be needing their weapons anymore." On cue, several other sets of bones began cracking from behind the wall of dinos that didn't form the wall itself. Soon at least 13 different species stepped out from the gaps. Each covered and armed with equipment and weapon that clearly belonged to the men.

Now, Moore didn't know what kind of situation in the past could aid him in this one. Where in all of history could you? It was a literal choosing of poisons that you knew nothing of. One would stomp, crush and eat you, the other could possibly shoot you if they knew how guns really worked with both being more intelligent than you would even dream possible.

Licking his lips, Moore asked again, "What do you want?"

Getting to business, eh? Rexy hummed at this, "Two simple things that even now you should be able to accomplish. One, we want the young man you took from our island returned to us. Two, I want you to get the fuck off my island." The last part seethed through her teeth coming out like gas from a blow torch just needing a spark.

Curiosity getting the best of him he asked, "Why the man? What does he hold?"

"That is none of your business. A business that had wouldn't be present had you not shot and nearly kill him. He was already weak from natural causes, still recovering from an illness that nearly took him the first time. I will kill every single one of you before I let that happen again."

"Rexy." Tracks suddenly came from behind. Being one of the 13 that had changed, he was still taller than most men present but still under the human t-rex. "If we take Alex home, we might not be able to help him. We, and by extension this place, does not possess anything that can help him. We possess very little knowledge in of itself, and it what the human doctors here have done has gotten him to the current point, then there is not much else we can do."

She felt a vain in her head begin to pick up in intense pulsing the more he spoke. But if the lack of the beta raptor and Track's concern was anything to go by then it must mean more than she originally had hoped.

Turning back to more she seethed her next words, "Fix Him."

"Wha-What?" Moore asked confused by the request.

"FIX HIM!" She roared. Loud enough that being point-blank with a train horn would sound more appealing to the ears.

"W-w-we can't." Moore regretted his chose of words when the fire in Rexy's eyes went from something that could burn a house to the ground to something that would turn a whole town to ash. "As your friend said, we don't have the capabilities of dealing with his level of injury. That stuff would be back on the mainland."

The vain was on the verge of popping, Rexy felt it there was just one more tiny thing just to finish the job.

But while instinct told her to destroy this man and everyone standing around them, her rational side quickly took the wheel and changed that course of thought.

When she thought out the situation more she found that there were 2 sides she liked and another that she wanted to burn in hell. These humans had resources, supplies, things that could help the island. And having weapons like these would make any invading human think twice about stepping on any speck of sand there. Another was non-combat humans; doctors and caretakers. Those that were in a separate group placed some distance away from here under a watchful eye. It had been 2 years since many had any human outside of Alex and these were people that understood them more than most humans in the world.

But then there was the fact that the armed humans would still be a problem.

They couldn't bring a huge number of her people with them on the boat, it would be overcrowded and yet leave the island without protection. The cages back home could be of use, but that would again mean leaving them there without proper guard and that alone could spiral down into chaos. Stuffing them into the cages like they were going to...

"The cages."

"What cages?" Moore asked confused.

"The very things you brought to contain us. They are spacious enough to hold all of your men without being a hindrance."

It took Moore a good minute to understand what the hell she was saying. Were they being taken prisoner? God knows what they did with Coriss' group that they could do to them now.

"W-Why...?"

"Because, you are going to help us save Alex. Either by aiding us, or getting out of our way. I'd prefer the latter but realize there would be... issues upon where we could continue to what we need."

"You want us to take you to the mainland?"

"Is it too much obvious to get through your thin skull?"

Moore was flabbergasted at the demand. True this was kinda what the original plan was. But having to be forced from the otherside of the spectrum wasn't what anyone probably expected. He could already imagine the chaos that could unfold with smart, English speaking, gun wielding dinosaurs rampaging all over San Francisco. It would be far worse than San Diego and he would be the one to deliver it.

But yet if he doesn't agree it means they'll do it themselves and god knows what to him and this men. He could already imagine that if Coriss was here he would be tearing him a new one for even thinking it.

"Under one condition." He spoke with authority that he was lacking for the past several minutes. Standing straighter than he was moments ago with the mindset of what he was supposed to be in these situations. Though he would be lying if you asked if he wasn't nervous on bargaining with a prehistoric... women?

Those 3 words alone made Rexy focus all her undivided attention to the man. Brow cocked up with question yet her eyes spoke for herself in how she could even believe this human was trying to play up on his side.

"The safe return of our people. Then we will take you." Moore said that as if instinct. Others both human and dino whispering about the possible outcome such a deal would result in.

For Rexy it felt like a slap to the face. Looking into his eyes she could see he was testing how far off the cliff he could go without slipping up to the point of falling. She wanted to laugh in his face thinking that he had any real power in the situation. But giving it a quick chew she started to see the positives, especially on getting them off her land a lot faster.

"Very well. But, to those who were ones to originally be part of us, may stay." This was a surprise to many, especially the others that wondered why the hell she would let humans to stay. Only a few understood once they figured out what the other part of this group was.

"Your men, however, are to leave it. Immediately." She growled the last word with teeth showing.

Feeling that if he did push it any more this whole thing would be going over a cliff, Moore reluctantly nodded and reached out his hand. Confused for a second, Rexy did the same but with enough grip behind it to see Moore actually wince a little and have to restrain himself from any outside actions that would give away the sudden weakness.

It made her smile on the inside still knowing that even in this size humans still feared her.

It was approaching noon when the group put the plan into motion.

Everyone was loaded back up onto the boat with whatever equipment wasn't destroyed or taken by the dinos as some level of compensation. While many were very vocal about this, they quickly let it pass as it would be hard to fight something several hundred to thousand pounds more than their own vehicles. Most of their weapons were confiscated with the most being pocket knives that would do little against their hids and padding.

Owen was honestly lost for words at what was transpiring. He was trying to find some way out of the closet for what felt like hours until the Indominus suddenly came back picking him up by the back of his shirt and hauling his ass back to the camp. He was just as shocked by her transformation as Moore and his men were but held it more in that he felt that this was just one of the many things he felt his life was just spiraling down into the pit of insanity.

Especially when he was hanging on one of her bottom teeth, swinging back and forth, side to side by his vest. His early screams and pleas to be put done without harm only made the hybrid smile and enjoy the feeling of his helplessness.

Aboard the Arcadia, he felt that this had to be a situation some crazy fanatic would come up with when he saw anthro-super human-sized dinosaurs with guns organizing the men into groups into the very cages meant to house giants and making sure they couldn't escape. There was still no sign of Coriss, Moore or Rexy, but when he was dropped by Inda as she transformed back and pushed him forward, he was surprised when several people actually weren't locked up and moving freely, a bit some restraint, back and forth with some of the dinos actually interacting with them like normal people. He even heard some laughter and crying in the mix when one of them either remembered an event that the person had really hoped they won't know about or just the realization that the very being that some of them had known for years was still alive and with them.

Though that was a whole separate can of worms when it came to communications. As it was a bit awkward when some would try to treat them like the animals they originally were 2 years ago. Some showed that side, others were just annoyed or confused. Like a child who's parents still treated them like their little one.

Shaking his head he headed towards one of the entryways to the inner parts of the ship. Mind already thinking about who he wanted to find.

Further in the ship towards the crew quarters, in what was a small medical room meant to probably treat 4 people with plenty of space to work with, Alex and his machines took up a massive chunk of that space.

It was the first thing done before anyone else was loaded onto the ship. All the doctors were gathered first to ensure that Alex's movement was as delicate was possible despite being surrounded by the giants. Never had any person watched such careful movements by what they considered unpredictable forces of nature.

It was also a bit surprising when they saw the bed be closely guarded by 4 velociraptors; 3 that they saw earlier in the camp that leads to this and the blue one that was found in the medical tent. That one stayed so close to the young man they honestly thought she would have just jumped onto the bed if it meant staying close at all times. Having to get all the equipment, bed with patient and raptor, loaded on one of the few remaining trucks to get hauled down to the ship and navigated through the tight halls to be where he was now.

(It had to have been 3 hours since they got here,) Blue wondered while leaning over the right side of Alex's bed. Resting her head on her arms as she continued to try to find some peace. It was too cramped for her to stay natural. It was even more so when her sisters, upon seeing the state he was in, also joined in. With Charlie next to her, Echo and Delta took up the opposite side with the latter resting her head across his leg.

She wanted to do something; scream out till her voice cracked, tear something apart until it was tiny pieces then tear those apart and then find something else. But now she was right back where they started. Her, a vicious killing machine, powerless to help just one creature in the world from nearly dying twice during her short time of knowing him. When they were told that taking back home would be a death sentence for Alex, Blue felt like her heart was just one crack away from collapsing. What that would unleash no one could tell. Grief, sorrow, anger, any possible.

But to take him away from home, hundreds to thousands of miles (a/n: did a quick check and it's roughly 3,500+ nautical miles) across the world's greatest ocean to the very land that the humans came from. She wasn't given all the details, though that was either because of her lack of attention at the time or Rexy trying to walk around the subject, but what she knew was what Alex needed was in the place called 'California' that was their ticket to fixing him.

6 days. They estimated that by running the ship back to Nublar to pick up and drop off what needed, they were to make a beeline straight towards the mainland. But fuel wise as they stated would be an issue, having already been refueled some time ago this back and forth trip could leave them stranded in the middle of nowhere.

They had to try. It's the only real way to go. It was better to try and possibly fail than to try at all. But to fail wasn't something Blue, Rexy or any other dino on this ship was going to let happen. Just like times before she wasn't going to let others get away from what she wants. Rather it is getting rid of the smelly fat many from years ago or protecting Owen from Inda, she got passed that and now this was the next one.

"What do you think they'll do to him?" Charlie quietly said. Though it was a bit hard wondering if it was an actual question or just her speaking her mind.

But what were they gonna do? He was in a condition that reminded Blue of all of them when she first woke up to actually see her sisters still alive. She knew that natural healing for some was more powerful than others. Flesh wounds eventual close up yet scar. Bone, though depending on what condition it's in at the time, will eventually strengthen again. Hell Charlie grew back her legs and Delta practically got a brand new hid after awhile. But they were stronger than a human in all physicality.

It was still confusing on how the crazy cocktail he made got them to this point. How in all actual facts they had just a small sliver of himself flowing through them all.

This started to make Blue think a bit more. Going back to how the humans first made Inda, a hybrid mixture of a bunch of things but yet she was still closely based on her primary source. She never took the mixture yet still had a human form. She already had human within her blood and bones.

But what if they did it the other way? What if they gave Alex the same thing but yet it was from one of them?

"Blue...?"

The raptor looked over her shoulder with alarm but it quickly went into a more surprising state from the sudden appearance of who it was.

"Owen..." she half-whispered like she was and yet wasn't surprised to see him. Her speaking his name brought the attention of the others who wore similar expressions to hers.

To say that Owen was shocked that his raptor could talk would have been an understatement had he not seen what he's already seen in less than 2 days. What he felt was more shocking was the fact that three of his four girls that he thought were honestly dead were still alive as they were before they were 'killed'.

When Blue stood up from the bed, Owen was surprised that she had just a little bit of a height disadvantage compared to him. Whenever she would normally face him she would be low some, standing straight up she could put her chin on top of his head. But here they were like before; though the physical appearance was a big changer. He wanted to reach out and feel that familiar warmth they had. One that they felt from the last time they saw each other. His hand was twitching like he wanted to do that but what happened next surprised him

Blue suddenly lunged forward with her arms out. Had she still be a raptor he would think she was attacking him. But it was far from that, her arms wrapping around him and closing the gap between them until she was tightly holding him. Owen was a bit surprised by the sheer strength Blue had even now. Feeling a few things pop from the tight hug she gave him while rubbing the side of her face on his shoulder. Taken back some Owen felt it in his heart to return the gesture. A bit hesitant but still he went through and held her close.

They didn't know what it was but a new feeling that felt dormant for so long seemed to bloom from the moment of contact.

Both physically relaxed into each other's arms as Owen leaned his head over her shoulder. Sighing as he felt the familiar scaly hid rub up against his cheek again when she was so much younger they could actually have this remote level of contact. For a solid 2 minutes with just the motion of the boat rocking back and forth as it headed towards Nublar, they didn't move. While the others stood up and awaited their moment, this was a moment that they knew should be shared by what was once Alpha and Beta.

So when the third minute rolled in, Owen felt it was an appropriate time to get down to what was on his mind. "Blue?"

She pulled away, looking up to her former alpha's eyes with a questioning gaze.

"What the hell happened to you?"

AN 11/29/19 3:06 am

This chapter went a bit faster in how it was being planned. This was actually a combination of the last chapter and aftermath of the 'fight' to where the next one will allow some actual interaction between most of the characters.

12/4/19 2:36 am

So far I have been able to keep up with my time schedule in getting these chapters done despite working on several other projects both on and off the computer. I would work on this at work when it's dead but working on a tiny phone really doesn't help, but it gives some motivation to work on once I get home.

With how much I hope to get this chapter from what you've read you can tell that I've gone towards the Fallen Kingdom storyline with Wu's obsession with genetic hybrids as many have said to make Alex THE Indoraptor.

That's still in the debate even at this point in time but with the state, the chapter is currently in I hope to release it by the 15th. Allowing me to work on the last main chapter to tie everything up

12/9/19 11:55 pm

So... some things have come up very recently that will heavily affect the possibility of the story getting done before the end of the year.

Won't say much as my Sunday 15th target is still in place and hopefully, some light will come on the situation.

12/16/19 5:12 am

I had originally wanted to finish and post this chapter on the 15th, but that didn't come to be. I'm at the point that finishing this story is like I'm sticking my hands in boiling hot water to get something from the bottom of a deep sink and this chapter made it to the knuckles.

I have a vague idea that will collectively end this story and my pain in the next chapter, though be aware there will most definitely be time jumps. (As if a cargo ship going from Costa Rica to northern California is gonna be completed in one night...)

11:02 pm. Temping to have it be at least a 5,000+ chapter and have more focus on some of the events leading to California. There will be at least 2 different 'present' moments involving the larger cast and the continuation of Owen and meeting his girls again. Will make sure that as much as possible of #29 is completed near Christmas and before 1/1/20.
