"Tails? Are you there?" Sonic knocked on the door, knowing that it wouldn't be opened. Sonic hadn't seen Tails in over a week now, and he wasn't even sure if Tails had seen sunlight during that time.

"Tails, we're all worried sick about you. You don't come out. You don't say a word. I don't even know if you've been eating, Tails." Sonic slid down against the door and sat on the floor with his back against it.

He didn't even know if Tails was listening, but he just kept on speaking.

"We miss you, Tails. And we know what you're going through isn't easy, but locking yourself up in a room with nobody to talk to won't help you. We want to be there for your grief, Tails. We want to help you."

Silence echoed through the house as Sonic waited for a response.

"I'll leave the pancakes in front of the door, Tails. I know you haven't touched any of the meals I leave by the room, but please don't starve yourself to death."

Afterward, Sonic had noticed that the pancakes were no longer there.

"It's progress, I suppose," Sonic thought to himself, picking up the plate and going to the kitchen to wash them.
