First crack at a Loki fic. I hope this is okay. Thank you for reading & please let me know if this should be continued with further chapters :) Enjoy!
He was chilled to the bone, and more confused than he had ever been. A mighty Norse god, the brother of Thor. Reduced to feeling like nothing more than a feral animal. The cruel monitor collar constricted around his neck did little to persuade him of thinking otherwise.
Finally, releasing the long harsh exhale he had pent up for so long. Despite the awful conditions, it was the feeling of his son's lightning fast movements, that brought him a sense of comfort. He was shocked they would even proceed with imprisoning a man whom was 8 months pregnant. But he would find a way out, regardless.
"I promise you, we'll escape. Your mother would be furious if she discovered you were birthed in a jail cell"
He chuckled softly as the corners of his mouth formed a small smile. The mother in question was Sylvie Laufeydottir, although their time together was brief. He would remember it for the rest of his days. His involvement with Thanos, extreme disorder of timelines. Not to mention the extraordinary body-count in NYC. Meant he may as well grow accustomed to his dungeon-like dwellings. However, he wasn't giving up that easily.
The Time Variance Authority was regarded as something of the Alcatraz of timeline corruption prisons. They had been after him for quite some time, it was considered nothing short of sheer luck his pregnancy actually worked in the TVA's favor. He was slower, therefore, an easier capture than in his former state. He watches, silently, as Minutemen, and a handful of women. Pass by his cell. Plastering on his exaggerated expression of innocence. Oh, how he loved to toy with them.
He felt his son give a hearty kick. Nearly causing his eyes to water. He was seen as something of a plague upon Asgard. It was through the goodness of Odin's heart that he took in the infant Frost Giant as his own. Hela, Odin's only daughter, Thor and Loki's sister. Was bitter regarding her thousand year imprisonment. Upon her release after Odin had passed, she treated it as more of a celebration, than a time of mourning.
Yes, his life was never dull. Though, there were times he wished it were. Despite his Frost Giant lineage, the baby was expected to be of normal size. But perhaps it was also the melding of Sylvie's DNA that determined this. She herself was no stranger to the TVA, he just hoped he could escape before she decided to have another go to attempt and dismantle them.
He heard the strange, Southern-nuanced woman's voice carry over from somewhere in the vast detaining area. A 50's styled animated clock would spring to life on many of the flat screens. Much like an airport terminal. Even for the God of Chaos, it was all a bit eerie. His hand lightly brushes over the area his son had shifted, he gives a heavy sigh. The baby was due in a little over 3 weeks. He notices as the lights start erratically glitching, this could be the opportunity he waited ever so patiently for.
"Increase security! Be alert!"
Ordered one of the Minutemen in a panicked frenzy, rushing past Loki's cell. He smirked, this was perfect. He hadn't a clue who was behind this phenomena, if anyone at all. But it was certainly a welcomed occurrence. He slams his eyes shut, honing his energy, first and foremost, to rid himself of the animalistic collar. The heavy piece of hardware disintegrated like rice paper in water. The glowing red light giving a final burst of life before finally burning out for good.
No one had even noticed this as they continued rushing past. Loki shuts his eyes, smiling once more. In the blink of an eye, he was gone. Materializing elsewhere, that 'elsewhere' being Asgard. An odd place indeed, to crop up. But he had his reasons. Once more, he wanted to try and restore peace between himself and all whom resided there. Certainly no walk in the park, especially considering the Hell he brought them. Though, this wasn't to say Thor didn't carry his share of the blame in this department.
"I thought we banished you?!"
A rather intimidating voice boomed. Loki couldn't help but stare in awe of the magnificent Royal Palace. With its pillar-esque structures extending beyond the mist, he swallows somewhat anxiously. He couldn't locate the source of the somewhat harsh proclamation, be that as it may. He had more pressing issues at hand.
"Believe me, I'm not staying. Merely dropping off a bit of important news. Is my brother about?"
He couldn't help but revert back to his rather sarcastic tone. The voice then swiftly transitioned into exasperation.
"No...leave now!"
Loki gave a low chuckle. The Asgardians may have put on an unnerving front initially, but soon their veils fell. Revealing that all had doubts their perfect utopia would, once again, be ravaged by the adopted Frost Giant.
"Just make sure he's informed. His heir will be arriving shortly"
