Gon and Killua had been traveling together for a full month now, and had finally reached the foot of the mountains. The tall trees of the forest ended abruptly, and an enormous, 650 ft high cliff face shot up from the ground, signifying a change in biome.

The original travel time had been two weeks, but that time had doubled with the leisurely pace they traveled at and the number of detours they took just for fun. Over the course of the month the two of them had grown incredibly close, especially after their emotional exchange when Killua had revealed his species.

The Valkyrie felt that they had gotten closer than ever after that, and now they were inseparable. There was a certain change in the air between them, it was so much more comfortable, as if being together was as natural as breathing. You could also tell that they had gotten closer by their proximity and the frequent physical contact. They would walk close enough that they brushed shoulders constantly, and Gon would often sling his arm around Killua's shoulder. When they climbed trees or made their way through some particularly tough terrain reaching down to pull the other up or reach up to shove the other forward was just something they did. Then there were the playful touches, like violently ruffling each other's hair, shoving each other around, and occasionally punching or slapping the other (all in good fun, of course). Also - since Killua had revealed his identity - they slept side by side next to the campfire each night, and would wake up each morning in a dogpile of tangled limbs.

Killua had never had a close relationship with another person… ever. This was all so new to him, but even though it was new he felt as if it were the most natural thing ever. Where had friendship been all his life? Where had Gon been all his life? They ate together, changed together, and slept together. They hadn't been apart for more than five minutes at a time since Killua had caught up with Gon on that cliff a month ago.

Speaking of cliffs, the one they had been approaching for the past day was a hell of a lot larger than they had realized. Scaling this bitch is gonna be a pain in the ass.

The two of them had just reached the tree line, and the cliff face shot so high up into the sky that they had to crane their necks to see the line of clouds veiling the top. The rock was pale blue in color with veins of light, amethyst purple. There was the occasional foothold, but other than that the cliff face was completely flat. It would be very difficult to climb. Killua had his claws, and a tail to balance. Gon on the other hand… he had a fishing rod.

"That sure is high up," Gon said in shock.

"Yeah, no kidding."

As Killua continued to look up and plot a route of climbing, Gon looked to either side.

And suddenly grabbed Killua around the shoulders and shook him around violently while yelling: "Killua look! Look over there!"

The Valkyrie struggled to regain his bearings, and was finally able to slap Gon's hands off of him. "What, what is it? You don't have to shake me all around like some sort of damn bartender! You can just tap me on the shoulder!"

"Yeah, sure, but look!"

Killua grumbled (there was no changing Gon's mind when he had it set on something), and looked. "I don't see anything, ya idiot."

"There's a WATERFALL!" the hyper boy started doing a goofy little dance.

Killua squinted into the distance, veins popped on his face as he focused his hyper-sensitive Valkyrie eyes. He still did not see anything off in the distance other than a heavy mist, which veiled them on both sides. The forest was choked up with it this morning. "What do you mean? There's nothing there. Maybe it's just a mirage."

Gon groaned in frustration when Killua didn't immediately get excited as well. "Here, I'll show you!" He then proceeded to grab the silver haired boy's hand and run off to the right.

"Hey! Gon-"

After a short few seconds of sprinting the mist started to clear as they got closer to Gon's destination, revealing - sure enough: a waterfall. Killua's eyes widened in surprise, immediately understanding why his friend was so excited. "Wow!" Killua found himself exclaiming as his eyes widened like saucers.

Gon looked back and giggled, smiling with his eyes squinted closed, as if even his own eyes couldn't handle the light his smile radiated.

The two of them arrived at their destination, and stood at the edge of an enormous basin (enormous meaning deep as well wide). The most glorious and majestic waterfall Killua had ever seen in his life came crashing down from the top of the vertical cliff face, sending mist spraying all over like fairy dust.

The mist wasn't from early morning dew, it was from this waterfall! But the mist extends for miles on out! This is incredible! He saw all this way before I did, that's amazing. Valkyrie's have the best senses of any humanoid… what is he?

The edge and walls of the basin were made of up hundreds of enormous boulders, slick and smooth from the constant crashing of the waterfall. The boulders were dark, almost black, and contrasted in a lovely way against the pale stone of the cliff. The water was crystal clear and sparkled like diamonds. Its mist poured off in all directions, blowing out through the forest and billowing around Gon and Killua as they stood on the edge of the basin and ogled. The mist did not, however, fill the basin itself.

As Killua turned his sapphire eyes downward he gasped in awe once again at the miraculous scenery before him. The basin dropped down for what had to be 250-300 feet, ending off in a sparkling pool of fresh water. Emerald green trees grew out from the side of the cliff face, their leaves sparkling with moisture and their bone-like branches dripping with condensation. The basin was not dark due to the lack of light, but in fact sparkled in the light of a thousand shimmering crystals which grew from the boulders; they were glow-stones, which emitted a crystalline light.

The silver-white light of the thousands of crystals reflected in the indigo water at the bottom of the basin, giving it the appearance of a galaxy full of sparkling stars. The bottom of the basin was not entirely covered by the lake, for there was a crescent shaped land area made up of dozens of huge, overlapping boulders rising to various heights. The boulders at the base of the drop off were covered in shamrock green mosses, with waxy plants sprouting heart shaped leaves growing out from the cracks. A few bushes crew in the cracks as well, showing off vibrant purple berries that looked like they tasted like heaven.

Killua looked at Gon and Gon looked at Killua.

They grinned like idiots, dropped their packs, stripped down to their undershorts, and jumped straight off the cliff.

The two boys arched up in a parabola shape, the feel of the cold mountain water mist was so refreshing against Killua's travel dirtied skin. Once they reached the peak of their momentum, they fell down, down, down.

The mist poofed around them as they exited the thick cloud and they found the air in the basin the perfect temperature. Wind whistled through the two boys' hair and they cheered on the way down. Killua gave Gon a cat-like look as he fell faster than the other boy, defying all laws of physics.

Gon looked at Killua in dumbfounded shock, then his competitive side kicked in and he started flailing and trying to fall faster. The Valkyrie laughed, it was just his physiology! He was born to be aerodynamic!

Finally reaching the galaxy-lake at the bottom, Killua plunged into the water, leaving an enormous splash in his wake. He had expected the water to be cold and stinky - stagnant as it was; however, the water was warm, comfortable, and smelled like… like freshness itself!

Killua resurfaced just as Gon plunged into the indigo waters, and the silver haired boy spat water as he was ruthlessly splashed by the other boy's fall. Gon resurfaced with a yell of triumph. "That was so FUN! Woah!*!*!*!" His eyes sparkled as he took in the basin up close.

"Killua this place is so amaz-"

His words choked to a halt as Killua shoved his head under the water, the Valkyrie grinned mischievously. Gon squirmed a little then grabbed Killuas ankle, pulled, and switched their positions.

From there a chaotic water battle ensued.

AN: !*!*!*!, having to find new methods of punctuating Gon lol
