The feeling inside was horrible. She never thought heart break would hurt so much. The tears poured down her cheeks like a flood, but she didn't care. She held her knees tighter to her chest and sobbed uncontrollably.
"Why…?" she whispered.
The young girl sat quietly on the floor of the phone booth when she had cried all the tears she had left. She didn't notice the door open. It barely registered that anyone was in front of her.
"Usagi."
She blinked twice and looked up. "Shingo."
"Daijobou?"
She shook her head as he took her hand and helped her up. "Let's go home, ne?" he said.
Shingo had never been so worried about his sister than he was at that moment. Every time he glanced at her, silent tears were falling down her cheeks. That's what scared him the most. The silence. When Usagi cried, one usually heard it 5 or 6 blocks away.
"Mama! Papa!" he called when they arrived home. Usagi had still yet to say anything to him. This time when he glanced over at her, he saw that her face was deathly pale. "Usagi!"
"Shingo, what's going on?" Kenji asked, running into the room.
Ikuko was right behind him. Shingo was barely holding onto the unconscious girl. "Usagi!" she said.
Kenji took his daughter into his arms and carried her upstairs. He heard Ikuko's voice filter up the stairs. "Shingo?"
"I found her crying in a phone booth, Mama. She wouldn't answer me when I talked to her. I was able to pull her home. It was almost like she was on autopilot. It was so weird because she was crying, but she was so quiet."
Ikuko hugged Shingo. "Thank you for bringing her home, sweetheart."
Kenji was laying Usagi on her bed when Ikuko entered with a bowl of water and rag. "Shingo doesn't know what happened. I guess we'll have to wait until she wakes up. Kenji, why don't you talk to your son? He seems a bit distraught."
"I will," he replied. "Call us when she wakes."
Ikuko nodded and wet the rag. Even though Usagi's face was pale, it felt rather warm. She gently placed the cool rag on her forehead. Usagi remained that way for awhile. When she began to stir, Chibiusa was making her way into the bedroom.
"Mamo-chan..." Usagi whispered.
"Usagi!"
"Mama?" She said, eyes blinking several times to regain focus. "How did I get here?"
"Don't you remember? Shingo brought you home. He found you in a phone booth, crying."
Chibiusa stood behind Ikuko, knowing exactly why Usagi had been crying in a phone booth. She tried to get answers from Mamoru, but he became exceedingly quiet after talking to Usagi. That's why she decided to return home.
"Oh."
"Usagi, what happened, sweetheart?"
She took a deep breath. "Mamo-chan... I can't bring him home, Mama. He broke up with me."
"Usagi!" She said, hugging her daughter close. Ikuko's heart dropped to her stomach. She knew how her little girl was feeling because she had felt that way once before.
Chibiusa sighed and headed up to the small room in the attic. She crawled onto the window seat and pulled her knees up to her chest. She had a sinking feeling that this whole break up was her fault. And Chibiusa felt horrible about it.
