Author's Note: This is another one of those self-indulgent pieces. Sorrynotsorry. I did say my fruit-related shenanigan's would come back around at some point, and viola! I even managed to slip in a funny pun. :P Anyway, enjoy my randomness, happy fluffy cuteness of these three living happy on Earth in Southern California.
Peachy Perfection
It was Mobius' idea to drag them out of the house early on a Saturday morning; something that Sylvie and Loki probably loathed the most about the agent, which was something considering he was impossibly impeccable otherwise in their eyes. Being an early bird was engraved in Mobius' DNA once he settled into the time cycle of an actual real life. His need for a routine, however, had not gone away.
Regardless, Loki and Sylvie grumbled to each other about being outside before noon as they sipped at their to-go cups filled with their favourite teas while following Mobius down the sidewalk to wherever he was dragging them off to. The cool, autumn air wafted the deep red leaves around them, mixing its salty ocean scent with the bite of winter. A feeling normal people could feel tickling against their faces, but for Sylvie and Loki, had no effect. They did, however, find Mobius' pinkened nose and cheeks a cute sight as a result from the breeze, which had given the two mischief-makers ideas.
They wouldn't quite call it revenge so much as scheming, but they had made a silent agreement to terrorize their partner to get back at him for pulling such a bold move on waking them so early with exchanged smirks and twinkling looks.
Mobius stopped in front of a simple looking storefront and pulled open the door, motioning for the perturbed pair to enter. "Don't be such sourpusses. It'll be fun."
"I'm sure it will be," Loki said cryptically while passing Mobius.
Sylvie held in a chuckle at the comment, slipping in behind Loki.
The place they entered was a small bakery. A sign beside the counter advertised a baking class in the back, which was where Mobius led them through the double doors to. Behind them had a makeshift classroom feel, complete with a white board with a recipe written on it and step-by-step instructions for what they were going to be attempting to bake today beside it.
A tall, thin woman with gleaming black curly hair was setting up the fold-out tables with bowls, whisks, and baking ingredients. Loki didn't have to look twice to notice they were the only other ones present. The woman noticed them and lit up, dark eyes sparkling against pale skin.
"Oh! You made it, Mobius!" she said brightly, quickly moving around the workstation to give him a hug. "I am so glad you were able to come."
"Sorry for being late. These two aren't exactly the get-up-and-go sort," he said, gesturing to Loki and Sylvie behind him.
"It is no trouble at all…" she replied, but both Sylvie and Loki ignored whatever else she was saying.
Loki narrowed his eyes at the back of Mobius' head while Sylvie scoffed into her cup. He sent her a sideways glance, nudging at her arm. A flair of agitation shot through Loki when he saw the woman's hand lingering on Mobius' forearm as they spoke.
"Watch and listen," he whispered as he leaned into Sylvie, reaching forward to pinch Mobius' ass.
Sylvie snorted.
"This is Sylvie and Lo-ki," Mobius said, extending the 'I' when he felt Loki's hand and repeated his name, it hissing between his teeth. "Loki, Sylvie, this is Andy."
"So, you're the one our Mobius has been raving about," Sylvie said, tone hinting at possessiveness. "He won't stop talking about your breakfast pastries and has preferred them over anything that we attempt to offer him as of late."
"Easy, kitty cat," Loki muttered, putting on his best smile when Andy regarded them when Mobius stepped aside.
Andy, not deterred by Syvlie's sizzly attitude, smiled and offered her hand. Sylvie hesitantly accepted it. "He's told me so much about you both as well. I am delighted to see you here. Mobius absolutely loves my peach cobbler, and that is exactly what we will be preparing today!"
"Splendid," Loki said, accepting her hand briefly.
Andy's attention went right back to Mobius, however, and it didn't go unnoticed by either of them. Sylvie watched the two talking as she moved toward a station at the front, inspecting the tools and ingredients laid out. Two other couples showed up a couple minutes later, and with only four stations set up, they had a choice to pair up and one go solo, or they all three would work together. Loki and Sylvie huddled close to the front station, lost in their own little bubble while subtly watching Mobius finally leave the teaching space and make his way back to them.
"Look who decided to pay attention to us, Loki," Sylvie said, barely giving Mobius a glance.
Loki wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her against him and giving her neck a nuzzling kiss. "Perhaps he enjoys our company after all."
Mobius rolled his eyes and sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You two can be a real pain in the ass sometimes. Andy is a friend—"
"Does she know that?" Sylvie interrupted, leaning into Loki while glaring at Andy. "Because I don't think she does."
Mobius ignored her and continued. "I happened to meet her when I visited this bakery after we first moved in. She was kind enough to give me the tour of the town and show me all the good spots."
Before either Loki or Sylvie could protest this, Andy gathered their attention to the front.
"Okay everyone! I am glad you all came to my first baking lesson. I am Andy, the owner of Sweet Andy's Bakery, and today we are going to learn how to make a peach cobbler from scratch," Andy spoke loudly, a broad smile on her face.
The other couples were at their stations, and Mobius moved to take over the empty one across the way, but both Loki and Sylvie grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back beside them.
"Where are you off too?" Sylvie questioned.
"Shouldn't you make sure we don't cheat?" Loki added, smirking and letting little sparks escape his fingers.
Mobius shook his head, but stayed with his obnoxious partners.
"The first step we will do is turn our ovens to three hundred and fifty degrees and allow it to preheat. While we wait, let's get a pot of water boiling so I can show you an easy trick to peel the peaches. Make sure you use hot water so it will boil faster. Get a bowl of cold water with some ice in it as well and set it aside. After all that is said and done, let's measure out everything so we don't have to worry about it later," Andy instructed.
Loki supplied the many measuring cups and Mobius scooped one into the flour. Sylvie got the water going to boil, and while she moved behind Mobius to grab the basket of fresh peaches, she brushed her hand just under Mobius' shirt at the waistline, fingers grazing the skin of his lower back. He jerked forward in surprise at the contact and a puff of flour got all over his front.
"Need an apron, Moby?" Andy asked, seeing his accident stain the cerulean blue button down.
Mobius brushed off the flour dust, side-eying Loki who was stifling a laugh while focusing very hard on the water that started to bubble.
"No, thank you. I am just a little shaky this morning."
"I told you you drink too much coffee," Sylvie said, eyes sparkling with mischief.
Mobius finished measuring out the sugar and cubing the butter by the time the water was at a roiling boil. He grabbed the slotted spoon as instructed by Andy and held it over the boiling pot while Loki placed a peach on it.
"Now, carefully dip the peach into the boiling water and hold it there for about thirty seconds. Once the timer goes off, immediately move it to our ice-water bath. This will cook the skin just enough to make the skin soft, but not enough to affect the peach's flesh."
Mobius followed suit, waiting till the timer went off before switching it to the ice bath and adding a new one in. Loki rolled the peach in the water a moment before removing it to peel the peach and Sylvie came over with a cutting board and a very sharp knife in hand. Mobius decided to leave them to their own devices while he worked on getting the peaches prepped for peeling while they cored and sliced them.
"Mmm, these are divine. Where does she get her produce, Moby?" Sylvie questioned.
Mobius turned to see Loki offering a sliced piece of peach to Sylvie, and she looked right at him while she gladly accepted it with her teeth, smiling in the process. She mimicked the action with Loki, and he made a bigger show of it by slurping up the slice in one go before grabbing her hand and kissing her knuckles.
"Save some for your cobbler, lovebirds," Andy said to them.
Mobius prepared an extra peach, moving to take over the peach slicing since the other two were preoccupied trying to distract him. He hoped they wouldn't try anything while he held a knife.
Thankfully, they didn't, at least not until he was prepping the pan with butter while Sylvie stirred the sugar and salt into the peaches now warming on the stovetop. Loki decided to come up behind him and snake his hands around Mobius' hips, pulling him back and into him. His long, cool fingers slipped under the hem of his shirt to caress the soft area of skin under his navel. The table was just tall enough to hide this gesture.
"I look forward to giving you the first bite of this remarkable dessert," Loki whispered, watching as Mobius barely held it together.
Loki helped him open the oven and place the pan with the cubed butter into it so it could melt. He let Mobius go shortly after, but not after he deliberately dragged his hand over his hip bone and across his ass. Flustered, Mobius glanced Sylvie's way, trying to keep himself from flushing too much. At least he could use the oven as an excuse for it, the room was a bit warm now with everything going on. Loki brought over a clean bowl and placed it in front of him, giving his hip a nudge with his own.
"Shall we get the crumb top prepared together?" Loki asked.
"Only if you behave," Mobius scolded, grabbing a sifter to sift the flour to get the chunks out and added the baking powder in. "I know what you both are trying to do."
"Oh? And what is that?" Slyvie asked.
Sylvie pulled the now-melted buttered pan out and sat it down on the counter, giving them both a wink as she turned off the heat on the peach mixture. She then lightly tapped her nails on the surface, waiting for their concoction to add to the pan. Mobius deserved it, he supposed, but he wanted to try something new with them, so he was glad they at least were participating and seemed to enjoy themselves, even if they were messing with him in the process.
"You're teasing me because I drug you out of bed at seven in the morning," Mobius muttered.
Loki added in the milk as Mobius stirred, leaning closer than needed in the process. "Perhaps you will reconsider an eight o' clock outing next time."
Mobius bit his lip hard when he felt two different hands squeezing his butt, not recalling when Sylvie showed up on his other side to hover closer than needed as well.
"I certainly cannot wait to bite into this peachy perfection later," she said.
"It will be quite delightful, won't it?" Loki added.
The agent simply groaned at the innuendo, breaking away from their cage to get the rest of the cobbler put together so it can get in the oven and he could pull them both out to the alley to simmer down a little bit… and maybe steal a few reassuring kisses to let them know he had no interest in Andy at all.
