Bisky stood before the two boys, a wild grin on her face. Gon felt like he should be afraid…
Scratch that, he was afraid.
Very afraid.
"Your week has passed, boys!" the Angel exclaimed, shifting her pearly white feathers. "Now, show me what you've got!"
Killua looked at Gon and Gon looked at Killua.
The Valkyrie grinned, and then stepped forward. Affection stirred in Gon's chest. Killua was sparing him… if only for the time being. Well… either that or he was trying to show him out…
"I've got a couple things I wanna try out," Killua said nonchalantly.
A couple things?! I only have one–
"The floor is yours," Bisky hummed.
Gon watched as Killua activated his Ren. It was so smooth… smoother than Gon had ever seen it before. Killua had seriously been working hard this week. All the while Gon had been struggling to come up with something to work on in the first place.
Once Killua had summoned an inch's worth of Ren across his entire body, he slit his wrist in a flash of his claws. Gon watched as he held his pale wrist out, the blood being sucked up into his aura.
"Hey Bisky, wanna be my test dummy?" he asked with a smirk.
The blonde woman's expression morphed to mirror Killua's, and she stepped forward. Activating her notorious Ken. Gon stepped back… just to be sure.
"You ready?" Killua asked.
"I have been since I asked for your demonstration! Show me what you've got!"
The Valkyrie swished his tail. "I call this one Lightning Palm."
Lightning Palm?
Gon gawked as Killua suddenly jerked into action, shoving Bisky with both hands. But the thing that was shocking - literally - was the ELECTRICITY that exploded from Killua's touch!
Bisky was pushed back a few inches, and immediately burst into applause as Killua's electricity slid harmlessly off her impenetrable Ken. "That was incredible! A truly commendable ability! Obviously we need to work on upping its strength, but what you have here is incredible!"
"Thanks!" Killua chirped. "That's all I can control at a time, forcing it out of my palms in a quick burst is a lot more difficult than I had guessed it would be. But my other spell doesn't have that problem." Killua walked a ways away from Gon and Bisky. He thickened his Ren to three inches, and then deepened the cut on his wrist.
He's using triple the Ren and likely quadruple the blood. This attack is gonna be a serious power up from the last one.
Once the blood began mixing with his Ren, Killua jumped into the air. Once he was several feet up, the Magical Energy gathered up at the tip of his finger. He pointed it at the ground.
"Thunderbolt!" Killua exclaimed as a bolt of lightning exploded from his finger, crashing against the ground and creating an enormous crater. The ground shook under Gon's feet, and the hair on his arms stood up with static.
"WHA?!" Gon yelled, jaw dropped comically wide. That was– That was– Killua was so freaking cool! Gon's chest heaved. Fuck, he loved Killua so damn much.
The Valkyrie touched down gracefully, tail swishing behind him as he walked back to where Gon and Bisky were celebrating his achievement. The two of them were holding hands and dancing in circles, cheering like maniacs.
"Killua! That was amazing!" Gon screamed, throwing himself at his friend. The assassin chuckled as Gon hung off his shoulders, standing before Bisky as she continued applauding him.
"An incredible ability! I had expected great things from you, but where on earth did you come up with this idea?"
"Well, it's not really that inspired," the Valkyrie admitted.
"'Not really that inspired?'" Gon snarled playfully into his ear, a wild grin on his face. "Are you kidding me? That was so cool! How the hell did you figure out how to do that?!"
Killua's ears turned red, and Gon had to force down the urge to kiss one of them. "I just remembered all the electrical stuff in Yorknew City. Everything was run on electricity, it was unlike anything I'd ever seen before. So I thought it would be a cool idea to replicate that, turn it into a spell. I'm sure it's been done before. I mean, it's just one of the elements."
"You play yourself down too much," Gon scolded, tightening his grip around Killua's shoulders. "You're amazing, you know that?"
Killua hissed and shoved Gon off, "Cut it out, you're embarrassing!" Gon giggled, and Killua scoffed at him, cheeks bright red. "Honestly. You have no filter at all!"
Gon found that he loved Killua's blushing even more. Well, he hadn't really loved it per say, before he'd fallen in love with him at least. But now that he felt these incredible things for Killua, he just wanted to see how often he could make the other boy blush. It was cute.
"Truly spectacular, Killua!" Biscuit exclaimed, patting the Valkyrie on the shoulder. "Now moving on! Gon! You're up!"
Gon's stomach dropped. Oh no. "Uh, it's really not much," he sputtered, walking a few feet away.
The hybrid had always been great at learning new abilities. He was a natural fighter, and new moves were like breathing. He'd mastered the scythe with ease, and Blood Magic had come just as naturally to him. But coming up with his own stuff… especially in something as complex as Blood Magic…
Gon was really over his head with this kind of thing.
He seriously wasn't smart! Like, not even joking! Gon was a total idiot, and he was well aware of that! He knew his limits! And this task had been WAY past his mental capabilities! Did you have any idea how many times this had blown up in his face?! Well it had been a lot of times!
Bisky hadn't helped him AT ALL, just left him to his own devices… and Gon really wasn't good at learning stuff when he didn't even know what he was supposed to be learning. But he'd done it! With a TON of effort, he'd done it. It was nowhere near as developed as Killua's… but at least it was something.
Gon took a deep breath and widened his stance. He bent his knees, and twisted around, holding one fist cranked back and the other hand held in front of it.
Killua whistled, and Bisky nodded. "An impressive stance," the Angel complimented. Gon sweatdropped, giving a sheepish smile. He really hadn't expected that reaction, in his opinion it looked totally stupid…
"Before I activate the spell, I just wanted to give some context," Gon started, activating his Ren. The Magic exploded in a dense cloud around him. This spell needed a ton of Energy to form, but it didn't need too horribly much blood. Gon had opted for a more subtle Bloodletting for it, he'd bite his tongue. That way, his enemies would brush the spell off as just a fortified Ren punch.
"As I'm sure you two already know, I have a biochemical that alters my physical form. I have a second body, and through the biochemical I can shift into that form. When I use the biochemical at its full power, my aura is also altered. It becomes physical, like some high ranking humanoid's do when they get super pissed off."
Killua and Bisky nodded, following so far.
"Well, when my aura turns physical, it shifts into this super thick black smoke. And when I'm really far down the transformation, it'll set whatever it touches on fire. It's pretty destructive. And since my natural blood power likes fire so much, I thought I'd try and incorporate that same firepower into my Hatsu. So…"
Gon bit his tongue, feeling the blood dissolve stealthily into his Ren. His cranked fist started to glow as the Magic was enhanced. Gon used his other hand to stabilize the fortified fist as he shoved all the Energy from that volatile reaction into one place. The Magic turned a flaming orange, and tiny licks of fire danced in the air around it.
Once the Magic was packed together nice and tight - ready to burst - Gon swung his fist, punching the ground with a cry of exertion. In a burst of Energy, Gon's Magic exploded against the ground, creating a huge burst of fire around him. He created a huge crater in the ground, even bigger than Killua's from his Thunderbolt attack.
Gon straightened, turning back to face Killua and Bisky. "Uh, that's it! I'm calling it 'Firefist.'"
"Are you shitting me right now?!" Killua exclaimed. "Who's the one down playing themselves, huh?! Who is it?! Tell me! Well it's you, dumbass! That was really freaking powerful!"
Gon chuckled, cheeks turning pink. Killua marched up to him, shoving him playfully in the shoulder. "Firefist? That makes so much sense for you, you little arsonist!"
"Yes!" Bisky agreed. "You did a wonderful job! I see you concealed your Bloodletting, choosing to bite your tongue rather than use a more flashy style. That was a good move! It takes a while to activate, but what you have here is an incredible spell in the making, indeed! When you were learning Ko, you always struggled with combining the right amount of Bloodletting and Ren. Through that you learned that when blood is saturated with too much Magic, it becomes volatile, and explosion prone. You've applied that knowledge into an attack, turning what used to be your weakness into your greatest strength! You've done an amazing job, Gon!"
Killua slapped Gon across the back as they walked back up to Bisky, grinning like crazy.
"For our remaining two weeks here, I will help the two of you refine what you have come up with! Killua, I will help you transmute your Magic into electricity more efficiently. I believe that with practice and a few pointers, your Lighting Palm can be just as powerful as Thunderbolt. And Gon, we will work on making your Firefist more refined. I think that if we come up with a few set levels, you will be able to use your spell in different situations. Having one power level for a single spell Hatsu technique is never a good idea. Now! Let's get right down to business!"
