Summary: Madison's POV as she watches Chip at archery.
((Madison's POV))
I know for years that Chip goes to the archery range every Tuesday and Thursday. He picked up the sport when an Olympic archer came to our school to a demonstration. I am surprise that Chip even has the time. He is into everything. From chess club to helping out in the shop, he is there. He has this endless source of energy that to effect everyone. His laugher and jokes even if they are corny, could bring a smile to anyone face. Sometimes, I don't know how he does it. I am envious how open he is to others. I wish I wasn't so shy.
So when I asked him if I could tape him at the archery. He was quite surprise but he gives me his big smile and said anytime. A tiny bit of guilt twists my stomach a little. We don't really support Chip in his odd activities. But he is always there for us from sis's music making to Xander's speech on the environment, and my short film at school. It was a cloudy day when we went to the archery range. It looks like we may not be able to film that day. Chip didn't care if it was raining or not. He got his bow and arrows out of the car before he walked down to the archery range.
He strap on his arm guard onto his arm and starts shooting. He kept making these funny jokes and does silly things for the camera. He wasn't really focused on the target but he was look like he was having fun. Through the jokes, he never missed a shot. Every time he hit the target, he would jump up and down. I could help by laugh as I try to capture his energy. Before long, I ran out of tape. I ran back to the car and got some more tape.
When I returned, I was amazed by what I saw. He was no longer bounce off the walls but his eyes were focus on the target. His body was straight like a board. He pulled back the string and let the arrow go. I almost jump up and down when he hit the bull eye. I almost went to congratulate him but stopped. He picked up another arrow and did the same thing again.
I watch in silence as he continues to make bull eye after bull eye. He was in his own little world with him and the target. I never saw this side of him. I don't think anyone was supposed to see this side of him. When he finished his last arrow, he wiped his forehead of sweat. I saw his big smile beam at the target. He set his bow in some type of stand before he went to get his arrows. I looked down at my hands to realize that I didn't tape this.
I walk toward where his bow was and waited. Chip blinks and smiles when he came back with his arrows.
"That was really amazing. I didn't know you could do that." I said. I almost laugh when Chip blushed.
"Well…You…I…Well…I have been doing this for awhile." Chip said.
"It was alright. You are really good. You should show the others sometimes." I said.
"You didn't get it on tape." Chip said as he put away his arrows.
"Nope, I was so amazed by your performance. I forgot to turn it on." I said with a smile.
I felt a raindrop on my head and it started to pour down rain. We screamed as our equipment started to get wet. Chip grabbed his bow and arrow and I grab my camera as we race to the car. I may have not captured Chip's amazing shooting but I have the moment in my head.
Beside, I still have plenty of tape and chance to catch these moments like these.
