"Sally, I've been thinking about something, I need to talk to you about it," Charlie stated.
"Charlie I don't have time, I'm going out."
"Look. I've thought all day and I'm certain, I don't know why, or how; I love Lucy Van Pelt."
"Huh," she said.
"That all you got to say?"
"You're in love with Lucy. Go tell her how you feel."
"I can't do that."
"Why not, you've been winning so far. She might go for it in her mindset."
"I don't know."
"Charlie… don't be wishy-washy. Tell her how you feel and take what you get."
"You need a ride to where ever?"
"Frieda is picking me up," she strutted out the bathroom.
"Enjoy your date, Linus," Lucy sighed.
Linus looked at her, wanting to tell her how Charlie feels about her, "you going to be okay?"
"I guess I will. I'm sure Rerun will be home soon."
"Well… Charlie might be home, if you get lonely."
"Why would I want to go hang out with him?!"
"Really, Sis," glared at her, "is that the route you want to take… you are so far gone."
"I can't. I don't know why he feels that way, I would just disappoint him, I'm not good enough."
"How do you feel, keep thinking about it," he kissed her on the forehead, "there's Patty… go see him damn it, it's in your heart."
Everybody pulled in to the parking lot of a diner, piling into a big corner booth, ordering food, ready to get down to business.
"I can't believe Frieda's dad bought you a Subaru, can you see if he can buy me a car," Sally exclaimed.
"Sorry Sally,' Frieda laughed.
"You should see the outfit Violet bought Lucy, Charlie would lose his mind," Patty mentioned.
"So fill us in on this, Linus," Marcie asked.
"Okay… Charlie told me last night he wanted my help, because he's in love with my sister-"
"Chuck is in love with Lucy?! Is it the apocalypse?!"
Linus glared at her, "so I had no idea how I was going to help convince Lucy to give him a chance. Earlier today when she was talking with Patty, Violet, Frieda, she saw Charlie smiling our way."
"He said he was happy she was with you," Peppermint Patty added, "why is Violet not here?"
"We're trying to get Lucy with Charlie, why would Violet be here," Sally rolled her eye's.
"Well she wanted to talk to me about it and as some of you know; she thinks Charlie has been looking down on her, because it seems that the roles are reversed."
"At the mall, Violet started up on Charlie, Lucy asked her not to and she didn't even question it," Patty said.
"I briefly talked to her at lunch; told her that she's dealing with what we have dealt with, with Charlie."
"What do you need from us," Frieda wondered.
"I can't say exactly, but somehow get Lucy to try and talk to Charlie. I think Charlie would be okay either way since he doesn't expect it from her. I'm doing this for my sister, I think Charlie is the key to pulling her out of her depression."
"What about in the car this morning, Linus," Sally mentioned.
"Oh yeah! Charlie was trying to show off his driving skills, she kept grabbing him, they were stealing glances at each other."
"Awww," the girls cooed.
"We need to get them together… I think they might look good together! If I liked guys, Chuck would be my first choice."
"Mine too, Sir."
"We were trying to throw hints all day at the mall, regardless of how it happened, I got my Schroeder because of her, I want to help her."
"She made me realize I was making the same mistakes she did with Linus."
"I want my sister back, even if it's more or less the old Lucy."
Lucy has lost track of the time she spent standing at Charlie's door. She tried watching tv, sitting in her room, she thought about him, even when she didn't. Linus words to her that day echo in her head. Even if she wanted him, she would first need to apologize… for everything. There she stands, hurt, sad, lonely, hoping this isn't a fools errand.
"Charlie… open the door, Charlie," she bangs.
"Lucy! My parents are upstairs," he opens the door.
"Charlie," she whispers.
"Come on, Lu-lu," he took her hand.
They sat on the couch, she wasn't ready, but it was now or never.
"I'm sorry."
"Why?"
"Everything I did to you…"
"I don't care about any of that shit, Lu-lu."
"Charlie… I want to take it all back, especially the past few days. All you wanted to do was be a friend, make sure I was okay. I hit you and yelled at you."
"It wasn't your fault."
"I thought you were looking down on me the whole time."
"I would never look down on you, Lu-lu."
She wrapped her arms around him, crying on his shoulder. He held her tight.
Patty dropped Linus off with a long kiss good bye, he walks inside making an effort to check in on Lucy.
"Lucy, you awake," he looked in her room.
He checks his and Reruns room.
"She's not in here, Linus," Rerun looks up from the computer.
Linus walked to Charlie's, knocking on the door.
"Come on in, Linus," Charlie yelled just loud enough.
Linus walks in quietly, staring at his sister, sleeping in Charlie's lap. Quickly he pulls out his phone and takes a picture.
"What did you two talk about?"
"Not much, she apologized for recent events and cried herself to sleep. Look at her, she's so gorgeous," he rubs her shoulder.
"When she's sleep," Linus smiled.
"How could somebody not love her?"
"You are crazy. Charlie Brown."
"C'mon Lucy, Charlie is waiting!"
"Here I come," she runs to the living room.
"You okay, Lucy?"
"I'm… feeling a little better. I don't remember how I got home, though."
"Charlie carried you here, laid you in your bed."
"There's so much comfort in that statement," she gave a weak smile.
"Because you love him and you need to accept it."
Violet is in a class they share with Frieda and Charlie, she keeps looking at him, thinking about what Linus told her, how Lucy asked her not to speak ill on him. What is with this guy?
"I need to talk to you," Frieda whispered.
"Okay, talk."
"After class."
"Okay class, don't forget the book chapters, see you in two days."
Frieda and Violet gathered their things to leave, Charlie walled up.
"Hi Charlie," Frieda greeted.
"Whassup Frieda, you and Sally enjoy yourselves last night?"
"Hello Charlie," Violet greeted, annoyed at his ignoring.
"Yeah," he nodded.
"We did, it was fun, what about you?"
"Nothing interesting, Lucy stopped by, that was it."
"Why did Lucy go over your house," Violet baffled.
"To make amends, I'll catch you later, Frieda," he left.
