"What was it you wanted to talk to me about," Violet walked down the hallway.

"I'm not supposed to say anything… nobody is, but I figured since what we hope happens, happens, I should tell you and let you know not to stand in her way."

"Not supposed to tell me? Who the hell is keeping secrets from me?!"

"Umm… everybody," she stopped walking with a deep inhale. "We are all trying to get Lucy and Charlie together. Everybody. He told Linus and Sally he was in love with her, she seems to be warming up to the idea, but she's afraid to accept it, and he hasn't told her yet."

"Are you serious… this is a joke, right," Violet guffawed.

"No it's not. Why do you think she asked you not to talk about him yesterday? I'm just giving you a warning; if you are truly Lucy's friend, don't you dare ruin her chance to be happy again. I don't give a fuck how much you hate Charlie, this is for Lucy."

"I just don't believe it."

"She was over his house last night, pay attention to her and tell me," Frieda walked away, "Oh and this is also a secret from Lucy and Charlie!"

Throughout the day Violet watched Lucy whenever she was in sight, she seemed to have a pep in her step, not much, she's holding her head up and her face isn't flushed from crying, she trails her in to a bathroom and waits for her.

Lucy walks out from the stall to see Violet putting lipstick on in the mirror, "Whassup Vee?"

"Oh, Lucy, you look… okay," she turned.

"I'm doing a little better."

"Did something happen last night?"

"Not really."

"Uh-huh… remember that one outfit I got you that brings out those green eyes of yours?"

"What about it?"

"Wear it tomorrow. Promise me you'll do that for me, please?"

"Why do you want me to wear that?"

"If you wear that at school, all the boys at school will really be checking you out, there's at least one that likes you," she thinks about what Patty said. "Trust me Lucy, look… you wear that tomorrow, I promise I won't say shit about Charlie ever again."

"You swear?"

"I fucking swear it on our friendship."

"Okay, I'll wear it, see you later."

"How am I going to pull this off, for this girl," she moaned aloud.

Violet spotted the group at lunch, needing help with her half-baked scheme.

"Sally, Marcie, Franklin, Patty; I need your help," Violet asked.

"What's wrong, Violet," Patty asked.

"First off, let me just say that; I know. Secondly; I think I know how to do it."

"What the hell are you getting at," Franklin inquired.

"Don't play stupid. Look… that outfit you picked out for Lucy; the one with the sparkly green top, I convinced her to wear it tomorrow. She's been riding with Charlie to school, we need a way to keep her from him tomorrow."

"Why would we want to do that, what is the point," Sally asked.

"Lucy has been in a decent mood today, Charlie told me and Frieda that she was over his house last night… and after that Frieda told me you-know-what," she glared.

"Fucking Frieda," Sally moaned.

"Lucy is my friend, my friend who has been very depressed. I want to see her smiling again and damn it, if it takes Charlie to do it, so be it."

"He runs in to her often in the hallways, he's gonna see her at some point," Franklin stated.

"Get everybody to run interference, I didn't think it all the way through… my bad."

"I could pick up Linus, Lucy, and Rerun," Patty suggested.

"We need a reason to convince Charlie, that they don't need a ride, though," Violet pondered.

"I'll tell Linus your plan and see what he can think of," Sally agreed.

"I can't believe you all kept me out of the loop," she leered at them.

"Can you blame us… with how much you fucking hate my brother? Nobody wanted you to fuck it up and send her spiraling down the deep end lower than he's himself has ever been," she retorted.

"I'm sorry… it'll take some getting used to… but I'll do anything for Lucy," she lowered her head.

Later that day Sally went over Linus' house to tell him the plan Violet thought off.

"So Violet found out, good fucking grief," Linus threw his hands up.

"But it's a good idea… better than what we managed trying to steer them together, just need something to tell Charlie to keep him from taking you guys to school and keep him from seeing her… until lunch I guess."

"How about; my dad is getting a new car, and… no… why don't they just have a sleepover?"

"Well at least Patty said she would pick you guys up."

Linus just looked at her, "I think that's all we need, I'll just tell Charlie that Patty stayed over to help with Lucy, to give me a break. We just gotta make sure we can keep them apart."

"Where is Lucy?"

"In her room, still. Looks like Charlie is her morning cup of coffee."

"Huh? But she doesn't drink coffee, you do."

"What I mean isssss; last night she was at your house and she was almost cheerful this morning, she asked to sit in the front seat, by the time school let out it was like her energy was about gone, until we were walking to the car," he showed her the picture he took.

"Awwww! They look so cute together, she's drooling on his jeans," she snickered.

"I'll call Patty and tell her the plan."

"Hey Sally," Lucy walked in, "is Charlie at home?"

"He's with Trish and Marcie, sorry."

"Oh," she sighed

"Lucy, are you okay, do you want a hug?"

"I'm just have a lot on my mind… I'm also trying to figure out Violets scheme she's working."

"What scheme," Linus asked.

"She wants me to wear this outfit I got on the promise she won't be mean to Charlie, for some reason."

"If she offered to leave my brother alone, don't you think it's worth the risk, she's never tried to hurt you before, has she?"

"I guess you're right."

"Everybody is fighting for you, Lucy," she hugged her, "Even if you are a crabby bitch, nobody wants to see you in this much pain. She probably has a big surprise like taking you somewhere fancy for lunch, with how rich she is."

"I might as well finish my homework… my grades have been slipping," she turns away.

"Lucy… if you want to talk with me, I'll be hanging with Eudora, get my number from Linus."

"I'm gonna call Patty and let her know. Hey Lucy! Patty is picking us up tomorrow to take us to breakfast!"

"I have homework to do my damn self," she takes her leave, "you should send her that pic."

Patty drove over to Frieda's to give her a piece of her mind, so she couldn't just hang up. Frieda's mom answered the door.

"Hi Patty, how're you doing, deer?"

"I'm fine, Ms. Rich."

"How is your friend, Lucy doing?"

"She's getting by. We think she has a crush on Charlie Brown, so we're trying to get them together and get her out of her funk."

"Oh yes… Frieda was telling us about that. After what happened with Schroeder and her. She wants to pay her back for giving her a chance. Well, she's in the living room."

"Thank you, ma'am," Patty walked in.

"What brings you here, Patty," Frieda smiled.

"I need to talk to you, you chatterbox," she grimaced, "you left out Schroeder hitting Lucy, but you couldn't not tell Violet?"

"Shhhh! Keep it down. I can explain… she told you, didn't she?"

"Yeah," Patty sat, "why would you tell her?"

"Look… she was going to find out anyway. You know how she gets when she's the last to know about something. I didn't her fucking anything up, you know how she is with Charlie; if she found out they were together, I was afraid she would not approve and try something. I told her what was going on and threatened her not to do anything."

"You gonna try and fight her, if she does?"

"No, but I'll tell Trish… and you know she would be more than willing."

"Luckily for you; she wants to get them together tomorrow. Fucking crazy, I know."

"Really? I guess she knew I meant business. Plus Charlie told both of us after class that Lucy came over his house last night. I had to tell her after that, there was no telling where her mind would've went."

"Well now… that makes sense. Linus sent me a picture of them," she pulled out her phone.

"They look so cute together, see, we got to get them together, that's why she seemed rather happy today."

Linus started to call.

"Hey Baby, whassup… yeah… that's a good idea… gotcha…I just got over Frieda's, I'll let her know… make sure everybody else knows that, too… love you too, Baby," she hung up. "So I'm going to take Linus and Lucy to breakfast before school tomorrow, so Charlie doesn't see her in the outfit I picked out. The rest of Violets plan is to keep them away from each other as best we can."

"Sounds good. Ooo… maybe do Lucy's make up."
