ART OF A SUN'S LOVE: WONDERFUL CHRISTMASTIME

Song written by Paul McCartney

Although it may not have seemed like it, 2016 had been a long year for Vincent van Colt Sentry. It had actually begun in the winter season of last year when his girlfriend Sunset Shimmer and her foster family went to England for the Christmas season, leaving Vincent with separation anxiety, even on Christmas day itself. That same night, he escaped the Sentry household to try and clear his mind, even meeting up with the Dazzling half-sisters Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze at a pub. But because of a mix-up with drinks, Vincent ended up drunk and so the sisters brought him to their home, only for Aria to make love to him that night, and that led to her becoming pregnant.

To say that the news shocked Vincent to the core would be an understatement; he was only eighteen years old, later nineteen, when the incident took place, and he wasn't prepared for parenthood at his age. Sunset was also upset by this news, but not with her boyfriend; how could Vincent have known this would happen?

Still, despite the shock, Vincent seemed to recover and pick himself up again… only for another incident to happen involving Sunset. This time, it had been Timber Spruce accidentally knocking her over with his truck, leaving her unable to walk for a while. Once again, Vincent found himself upset by this bit of news, and found himself being manipulated by Chrysalis into beating the pulp out of Timber, only to stop and hear what he had to say about losing his own family at different points in time. Chrysalis had attempted to have Timber shot, but Vincent took the bullet instead, putting him in the hospital for his injuries. During his time there, Vincent talked things out with Aria over that Christmas night, under police supervision, of course, and as soon as he had been discharged, he called out both Twilight and Song Cue for their grudge against Timber.

Things had begun to look once more for Vincent once the chaos had died down, especially after the birth of his and Aria's child Palette Crescendo, now only two months old, but the young blue-haired man couldn't help but feel as though someone else wasn't out of the woods just yet on that November afternoon.

"Something on your mind, Vincent?" asked Fictionary as she looked up from her Warrior Cats book.

"It has been for a long time, actually," her older half-brother replied. "Ever since… well…"

"Oh…" Fictionary nodded. "Something similar happened in this book, actually. Bluefur didn't want to have kittens at all, and suddenly she's ended up with three."

"Er, that wasn't what I was referring to," said Vincent. "I was talking about the Timber Spruce incident."

"Oh yes, that," said Fictionary. "The event was rather unsettling - Sunset getting run over, you getting shot, and Timber getting the blame for it. It's like whenever something bad happens, it can bring out inner demons in people based on earlier predicaments."

"Indeed they can," sighed Vincent. "But there's one thing he said specifically that I just can't get out of my mind…" He thought back to that one particular moment as he attacked Timber…

"You don't know what it's like to lose or almost lose someone close to you!"

"I don't know what it's like?! I'll have you know I lost both my parents when I was barely a teenager, and my only sister passed away not long after Bloody Sunday! The only family I have left is my uncle, and I don't see him very often because he works all the time!"

"I know I didn't have a positive first impression with Gloriosa," Vincent said after what felt like forever, "and I only wish I'd have reacted better to her comment about me. But I haven't had the chance to ask him what happened to his parents."

"That is a bit of a mystery," sighed Flash, coming into the room. "I mean, yes, we did lose our mother Lullaby Strings three years ago, but Cindy was there for us. Celestia too, to an extent. And for the longest time, we didn't know that Page Turner wasn't our biological father because he was there for us from almost day one."

"And when Flame Barrier returned to our lives," added Vincent, still feeling guilty over how sour his only meeting with his and Flash's biological father had ended, "I treated him like dirt all because he never bothered to show up, and I couldn't understand why mom didn't tell any of us sooner."

"And then we found out that Scootaloo and First Base were our siblings too," Fictionary put in. "That was really cool… but with all this in mind, I guess we haven't realized just how lucky all five of us were."

"That's the thing about families," said Flash. "You never know how much they mean to you."

Speaking of families, Song Cue and Comet Tail were out Christmas shopping together.

"Ooh, look at this, Comet!" cried Song Cue. "It's a whole shelf of Schleich horses."

"They sure do look fancy," said Comet. "Which one speaks out to you the most?"

"Hmm…" She looked at the horses carefully. "I like the light chestnut with darker spots."

"I could see you riding a horse of that color," chuckled Comet. "And maybe I'd be on… that light gray one right there." They added the horses to the cart and carried on through the store. As they passed the candy aisle, Song Cue noticed some of the Christmas novelties they usually brought out.

"Half-pound Reese Cups… giant gummy bears… Pinkie Pie would live in this aisle if they carried this all year round," she chuckled.

"Ooh, you know me too well!" Pinkie giggled as she bounced over with Thunderbass.

"Fancy running into you guys here," said Thunderbass. "Doing some Christmas shopping too, eh?"

"What else would we be doing this time of year?" chuckled Comet. "We've been doing it together since high school."

"How have your families been doing?" asked Thunderbass.

"My family have been doing fantastic," said Song Cue. "Sunflower will be coming over to see us; she's spending time with Orange Sherbet right now."

"Things are going good for my side too," added Comet. "The others were still down about losing Lyra and Top Marks after Bloody Sunday, but they've started letting me in their lives again as a means of making up for being so rude and jealous in the past."

"Jealous?" asked Thunderbass. "What made them jealous of you?"

"The fact that I got a loving girlfriend and friends who are devoted to me, if I had to guess," he admitted.

"I can't tell how much Top Marks' influence rubbed off on those four," Song Cue sighed. "I wouldn't have wanted Top Marks to die like that, but I'm glad they are free."

Unknown to the quartet, another figure was close by, quietly browsing the shelves.

"I know I shouldn't be…" he sighed. "But… I am jealous of them…" Almost silently, he began to leave.

"…and as for Fluttershy," Song Cue was saying, "she is wanting to find love again, but so far, no luck."

"Too bad Spike's with Morning Roast," said Comet. "I thought I heard Fluttershy once mentioning how he was adorable to her."

"That's true, but I think it was more of him being a younger brother to her," Song Cue replied.

"That does make sense. Well, hopefully she'll find the right guy," said Pinkie. "I mean, Mr. Right could be almost anywhere here in Rainbow Falls, probably in this store as we speak!"

"And hey, it is getting close to Christmas," said Thunderbass. "Who knows what sort of magic can happen?"

"If Christmas can turn a grumpy miser cheerful, and make a broken man realize how important he is to life, it can surely bring two hearts together," nodded Comet, remembering a couple famous movies.

Meanwhile, Fluttershy was volunteering at a local shelter.

"There," she said to a dog. "Your fur is much cleaner now." The dog in question rushed up to give her a big lick on her face. "You are very welcome."

At that moment, Fluttershy heard a little bell ringing, indicating that the entrance door had just been opened.

"I'll be right there!" she called. She glanced over at the door and much to her surprise, Timber Spruce was there with Daisy.

"Hello Timber and… oof!" Daisy put her paws up on Fluttershy eagerly. "Hello, Daisy." She gently stroked the puppy's head.

"She's here for her check up," explained Timber.

"Let's get her tended to," offered Fluttershy, leading Daisy to one of the checkup rooms. "And how has she been lately?"

Daisy batted her paw eagerly at Fluttershy, letting out friendly barks with her tail wagging.

"I'll take that as 'I'm good,'" chuckled Fluttershy.

"She's been feeling lonely sometimes when she sleeps at night," explained Timber. "So I gave her one of my socks as a security blanket for when I'm out."

"Aww," giggled Fluttershy. "It's not every day I come across a pet owner who treats their animals like children."

"She's the only real company I have at home," Timber sighed. "I rarely see my uncle and… Well, you know."

"It's always hard to lose family," Fluttershy comforted, putting a hand on Timber's shoulder. "I still remember the day my family lost my aunt Ivy."

"Hopefully she and my folks are getting along in the afterlife," suggested Timber.

Fluttershy gave a nod as she started checking Daisy over. It wasn't too easy though, as there were many instances where Daisy was trying to lick Fluttershy's hands or nose her elbows.

"Settle down!" giggled Fluttershy. "I love you too, but I can't check you over unless you hold still."

Daisy eventually quietened down and Fluttershy eventually finished her task.

"Good girl." Fluttershy then gave the puppy a dog biscuit. "My Christmas gift from me to you."

Daisy wagged her tail happily as she took the biscuit.

"If she wasn't your friend before, she's definitely your friend for life now," chuckled Timber. "It's like you got this special magic with animals."

"My family says that all the time," Fluttershy replied. She grinned at a thought. "We're going to visit a horse riding school in the new year."

"Sounds like it'll be quite the show," said Timber. "Careful not to fall off."

"We'll be careful," said Fluttershy. "Song Cue's been looking forward to this since it was announced. Oh… are you going to be spending time with your uncle this Christmas?"

Timber's face fell.

"He'll be out of town until at least early January," he sighed. "Selling all those Christmas trees this time of year takes a lot of effort, and I have to look after Daisy."

"Maybe… you could come and spend the day with my family," suggested Fluttershy. "We wouldn't mind if you brought Daisy with you."

"I don't know…" murmured Timber. "I don't think your family would be too pleased having me around."

"I think they'd give you a fair go," said Fluttershy. "Song Cue's coming around."

Timber wasn't quite sure about the idea, but he also didn't like the idea of being alone at Christmas.

"I guess it could be fun," he said.

Before everyone knew it, Christmas Day had rolled around, and in the morning, there was the click of the TV at the Cue family house.

"Saw Santa flying through the night

In party clothes of red and white

His sleigh was loaded with Christmas toys

For all the little girls and boys…" Heartsong and Song Cue immediately joined in the song on the DVD.

"Goodness me," gasped Orange Sherbet. "You couldn't wait for the rest of the family to get here, couldn't you?"

"A little singing before they arrive never hurt anyone," said Heartsong; Song Cue was too busy singing the words but gestured for her brother to join in the dance.

"Jump up, get down, Wiggle and Wiggle all around; it's Christmas."

"Now now," said Sweet Song to her children, "we have to get ready for the Christmas lunch. We can have the DVD playing in the background."

"Okay, mom!"

The four of them, along with their dad, quickly got everything ready. Orange Sherbet was preparing a roast lunch with Flutter Butter while Song Cue, Heartsong and Sweet Song baked some Christmas cookies for gifts for the rest of the family to take home.

"And we can use these to make it look as if the reindeer have harnesses," Heartsong giggled, lining up some tiny circles along the reindeer's neck and back.

"Oh, and maybe we can make one of them look like Rudolph," added Song Cue, putting a red M&M on its nose.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it," offered Sweet Song, opening the door. It was Comet Tail, Sunflower and Chip Mint. "Oh, hello, you three. You're a bit early, but please do come in."

"We didn't want to take any risks in case of traffic and weather," explained Comet.

"That's fair enough," smiled Sweet Song. "Song Cue, Heartsong and Orange Sherbet are helping out with the cooking if you wish to see them."

The trio headed inside to see their respective partners.

"Comet!" cried Song Cue, giving him a kiss. Heartsong proceeded with hugging Chip Mint tightly, and Orange gave Sunflower a cheerful wave.

"It's good to see you all too," smiled Chip Mint. "Ooh, do any of the cookies have chocolate chips on them?"

"Some of them have them baked into them," chuckled Heartsong. "I might have saved a couple for you." She handed Chip Mint one of the cookies.

"Ooh, and peppermint flavored icing," he grinned. "You know me too well."

"That pork roast is looking fantastic, Orange," said Sunflower.

"Thanks," he replied. "Oh, shoot, I almost forgot the apple sauce."

Sunflower chuckled and handed him a jar of something. "Just as well some of us planned ahead."

"You're so clever," smiled Orange.

The family was just finishing up preparations when the doorbell rang again.

"I bet that's Posey, her family and Coco," said Flutter Butter, getting the door. He warmly greeted the five figures outside, but as they started following him in, he heard a puppy barking.

"Did you get a new dog?" asked Flutter Butter.

"No, uncle Flutter Butter," Fluttershy giggled. "That would be our next guest."

The next guest turned out to be Daisy, happily pawing at the door with Timber keeping her on a leash so she wouldn't go too far away.

"Oh, uh… I see," said Flutter Butter, trying to remain composed. "Well, I wouldn't object to having a dog around. Do come in."

"Er, Fluttershy," said Coco, "what's with your uncle's apprehension about another guest?"

"That's a bit of a long story, Coco," Fluttershy admitted.

Timber and Daisy were soon let into the house, and they, along with Fluttershy, Zephyr and Coco, found their other family members while Posey and Cloud Wisp went to chat with Sweet Song and Flutter Butter.

"Hey, cousins! Hi, Coco," cried Song Cue. "Just in time for some Wiggles Christmas… oof! …music." Daisy had jumped right into her lap. "Hey Daisy, what are you doing here?"

Daisy barked and gave Song Cue a playful lick.

"I invited Timber over for Christmas," Fluttershy quickly explained the situation.

"Ah, I see," said Heartsong. "Well… I guess that's okay."

"Yeah, I mean, all said and done now," added Orange.

"What exactly happened?" asked Coco.

"I'm just as out of the loop as you," grunted Zephyr. "Flutters never tells me anything."

"That's because you can never keep anything a secret," insisted Orange.

"Indeed," agreed Comet, "This is why I never told you about my secret proposal to Song Cue."

"Wait, you're engaged?!"

"I didn't tell you after it wasn't a secret anymore?" asked Song Cue. "Heh, oops…"

"Anyway," said Timber, taking a deep breath. "Long, complicated story short, my reputation was already messed up due to Bloody Sunday."

"Oh, we did see bits of it on the news," said Chip.

"Especially when that tyrant Cinch got what she deserved," insisted Zephyr.

"Zephyr Breeze!" scolded Coco. "We never wish death on anyone, no matter how horrid they are!"

"Agreed," said Sunflower. "I know she was horrid, but she should have remained in prison, not died in a brutal manner."

"It wasn't entirely Timber's fault," insisted Fluttershy. "He was already heartbroken enough when he lost his parents, and losing his own sister was the straw that broke the camel's back."

"But when aunt Ivy died," argued Zephyr, "Butterscotch didn't resort to any murderous tendencies."

"I think," said Song Cue, "it's because he had Bumblestripe and Rose Petal as well as us. He had a substantial support system to fall back on."

"Precisely," Fluttershy confirmed. "Burnt Oak is a good person, but he's very busy, so he couldn't spend as much time with Timber as he would like."

"No wonder Daisy was… oof!" The puppy in question had leaped onto Heartsong's lap and put her paw on Heartsong's hand. "…such a blessing."

"The first real friend I had in a long time," sighed Timber.

"Well, you have more friends now," Fluttershy insisted, giving Timber a hug. Daisy's tail wagged as she caught sight of this.

"So, are we going to play the Wiggles songs or what?" asked Chip.

"Oh, of course!" cried Heartsong. "I'll put the DVD on. From the top."

She quickly did so, and it wasn't long before Song Cue and Heartsong launched into singing the Wiggles Christmas songs, the others slowly joining in.

"Say, these songs are quite catchy," said Timber. "When did you hear them?"

"Oh, we were vacationing in Australia when we were little," said Orange, "and we were looking for some entertainment so our parents bought tickets to see a concert. It wasn't as grand as the concerts they put on now; in a… scouts hall I think it was. Since then, we started getting DVDs and such."

"Shame I never heard of them until now," said Timber. "It would have been fun to be part of the club."

"And you can now," said Chip. "I didn't hear of these songs until I was in middle school and met Heartsong."

Just then, the doorbell rang again.

"I got it!" called Sweet Song. She opened the door to see Butterscotch, Rose Petal, Bumblestripe, Firelight and Mystic Light. "Oh, come on in, you five."

The quintet headed inside, Butterscotch rushing to the younger relatives at the TV, and Firelight following with Mystic Light close behind.

"Wiggles, Santa!" giggled Mystic eagerly.

"Yes, that's right, Mystic," grinned Song Cue, booping her on the nose with her pinky finger. "Next up is 'Go Santa Go'!"

Little Mystic giggled happily as the next song began.

"Oh, I love this one." Butterscotch rushed over to his cousins and potential future cousins-in-law (actual future cousin-in-law in Comet's case) and launched into the dance.

"Go, Santa, Go,

You've got such a long way to go," Song Cue and Comet began.

"Go, Santa, Go,

Go, go, go, go!" Heartsong and Chip went on.

"Call the reindeer, get ready," Fluttershy and Butterscotch added, "and away you go!"

Timber was a bit shy about singing to the songs as he didn't know some of the words of the "non-traditional" carols, but he still danced with the others like no tomorrow, and they pranced around as if they were pulling a sleigh, just like the characters in the Wiggles' clip.

"It'd be nice if Greg came back to sing that song with the new group," said Fluttershy as the song ended. "I could see him and Lachy singing it together."

"Yeah," agreed Orange. "He and Lachy do sound similar. I wouldn't be surprised if they heard the song play back and they'd not know who was singing which part."

"Reindeer, reindeer!" called Mystic, and she was pointing to another DVD in the collection that the Cue siblings had laid on the floor.

"Okay, Mystic," said Heartsong. "How about we play Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer next?"

"Yay!" Mystic clapped.

"She's so cute," cooed Timber to the little one. "Yes you are. You're getting to be a big girl."

Mystic gave a cheerful wave at Timber, and Firelight gave him a warm smile.

"I'm glad to be part of these Christmas get togethers," he smiled weakly. "It's been a blessing for Mystic Light to come into my life."

"What… happened with you?" asked Timber.

"I've been having quite the terrible bout of bad luck," sighed Firelight. "The woman I loved died in childbirth, her parents refused to let me see the baby, and after many years, I got a call from my daughter only for her to be killed hours later."

"Do you remember Starlight Glimmer?" Fluttershy asked. "She was Firelight's daughter."

"I vaguely remember seeing her once or twice," said Timber. "She wasn't that pleasant. Wasn't she responsible for Sunset Shimmer acting like a bully?"

"Her and Trixie, yes," said Orange. "But that's because Starlight was abused by her aunt… Abacus Cinch."

Timber's eyes widened with surprise at this revelation. "Her aunt?! You're joking!"

"Afraid not," sighed Song Cue. "Cinch's bloodline was well known for using manipulation, blackmail and abuse to secure their positions in life. And it seemed like those genes were being passed on to Starlight."

"If only I had taken custody of her," sighed Firelight. "We might have avoided all of this chaos."

"Who knows what life Starlight could have had if she didn't end up with Cinch," Fluttershy said quietly.

"Fate deals a cruel hand sometimes," sighed Timber. "I'm just glad we were able to rescue Daisy." He then blinked at Mystic Light. "If you aren't her biological father, where did she come from?"

"Song Cue and I found her after her parents were killed when she was a baby," explained Comet.

"Killed?!" gasped Timber. "What sort of accident was it?"

"That's just it." Song Cue shook her head sadly. "It wasn't." She quickly explained how Mystic Light's parents, a young couple around the same age as Shining Armor and Cadence were at the time, were murdered in cold blood.

"The poor parents…" Timber felt a pang of empathy for Mystic Light. She wouldn't be old enough to remember them, but it was still a harsh reminder of the loss of his own parents. "How could anyone be so heartless as to murder a couple just on the beginning of parenthood?"

"That's a mystery we all cannot truly explain," Sunflower groaned. "I'm just grateful that Mystic Light ended up in safe hands."

"We all are," added Fluttershy.

By now, the DVD was coming to the bonus "Wiggly Christmas Medley" live in concert, which was a mashup of several Christmas songs the Wiggles had performed up to that point.

"Hey, enough of all that doom and gloom," said Heartsong. "It is Christmas after all, and I think one of the best melodies the Wiggles have made is about to play."

"You are so right, cous," smiled Butterscotch. "Let's sing it before we have lunch!"

The group grinned and launched right into the Wiggly Christmas Melody. During the dancing, Timber was a bit awkward, and was mostly focused on copying Fluttershy's moves. During the "Feliz Navidad" portion of the melody, Timber accidentally tripped and nearly fell near Fluttershy, but she grabbed his arm and helped him up.

"I tripped up a lot when I was learning the dance too," she admitted quietly.

Timber blushed when he got back into position. He did better for the remainder of the song, but as everyone was prancing around for the final leg - the "Go Santa Go" part of the melody - Zephyr was being left behind like Captain Feathersword was in the actual video.

"Every time!" he cried. "Can't one of you take the part of Captain Feathersword next time we do that melody?"

"What, you're so good at it," chuckled Orange.

Zephyr just folded his arms and pouted. Even Timber couldn't resist a chuckle at his expense.

"Children, time for lunch!" called Sweet Song.

"We're not children," muttered Zephyr.

"We are their children," Fluttershy chuckled. "And besides, Mystic Light qualifies either way at this stage." She booped the toddler on her nose, who just giggled in response.

The group all headed to the main table, which needed a few extra chairs to accommodate some of the guests, and a high chair was set up for Mystic Light. Daisy slipped under the table and lay down, keeping high alert.

"Wow, you lot really worked hard to get this meal ready," said Timber.

"We always do," said Orange.

"Though someone nearly forgot a crucial ingredient for the meal," teased Sunflower, causing Orange to blush.

Timber then caught sight of Fluttershy's plate. While she did have the various roasted and steamed vegetables and even a bit of apple sauce, there was something she didn't have…

"You didn't want any pork?" he asked in surprise.

"Oh, good heavens, no," she gasped. "I respect my family's wishes, but I couldn't eat meat myself."

Timber gave an impressed smile. "I don't think I could become a vegetarian myself. I wouldn't be surprised if you were an animal whisperer."

Fluttershy giggled, and almost seemed to move her hand closer to Timber's without realizing it.

After the meal was over and a viewing of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, the families all started to depart the Cue family house with the cookies and presents they were gifted with.

"Blue, Blue!" giggled Mystic Light, with a stuffed toy of the titular puppy from Blues' Clues as her present.

"You give her lots of cuddles, Mystic," said Song Cue, giving her a kiss on the forehead. Firelight waved as he took the toddler back to their car.

"Just think, next year we do this, we may have officially tied the knot," chuckled Comet, giving his fiancé a kiss on the lips.

"I can't wait for our wedding day," Song Cue giggled, waving goodbye. "No doubt Pinkie and Cheese will be all over the reception afterwards."

"That will be some party," Chip grinned as he strolled off. "And thanks for hosting this one. Catch you on the flipside."

"See you later," said Sunflower following Chip. Posey, Cloud Wisp, Rose Petal and Bumblestripe all gave cheerful words of farewells to Flutter Butter and Sweet Song while Butterscotch, Zephyr and Coco exchanged some quick words with Song Cue, Orange and Heartsong. However, there were two of the younger generation absent from the rest.

"I'm glad you enjoyed this Christmas, Timber," said Fluttershy.

"Thanks for inviting me, Fluttershy," Timber replied. "Truth be told, up until tonight, the Christmas season put me in a rather sour mood because it was near Christmas when my parents died."

"Right near Christmas?" gasped Fluttershy.

Timber sighed. "It was when my parents were going to my uncle Burnt Oak's Christmas tree farm to get a tree for us, and they both got crushed."

"Oh… that's just horrible." Fluttershy shook her head sadly. "There was a time where Christmas wasn't that great for us either."

"What happened?" asked Timber.

"Well, no one died, but…" Fluttershy paused, trying to calm herself down. "When Rocky Ripple went to military school, we did lose one of our family members. Worse still," she winced, "Christmas day was also his birthday."

"It was?" exclaimed Timber. "Ouch."

"Two crushing blows at once," nodded Fluttershy. "But thankfully, things have gotten better ever since that day. I know Rocky Ripple hasn't been the best, but we do send him Christmas and birthday cards each year. I'm not sure if he does read them."

"That's very thoughtful of you and your family, Fluttershy," said Timber. "You do love him despite those circumstances."

The two kept walking until they got to an archway near where their houses were.

"Oh!" gasped Fluttershy in surprise, glancing up to see a small plant with white berries. "Look, Timber!"

"What's so special about that plant?" he asked.

"It's a mistletoe," Fluttershy explained. "It's a tradition that when two people are under a mistletoe…" She blushed and her face grew hot. "They get to kiss."

Timber blushed bright red as well, and shyly leaned in close, Fluttershy leaned in too. Their kiss was a brief one on their lips, but a rush of warmth spread through their bodies, one which Fluttershy hadn't felt in a long time.

"Wow…" gasped Timber. "Er… maybe next year, we should do that again."

Fluttershy nodded before hearing voices calling out her name and a barking puppy. "Oh, my parents and brother. I'd better catch up with them."

"And I left Daisy with them!" Timber cried. "I'd better collect her and go home. Thank you for this walk and talk, Fluttershy; I really needed that."

"I'm just glad I was able to help out there," she smiled.

Unknown to the Cue and Shy families, down at the military school…

"…'have a very merry Christmas day. Love, Song Cue. P.S. I just got engaged.'" The figure looked up from his card and gently put it among the stash of cards he had gathered up over the years. "I may be too far gone, but it's nice to know they keep me in their thoughts."

Author's Comments

Well, this has been a long time coming. After Volume 2 of Art of a Sun's Love came to a close in April 2020, nineteen months ago, we finally return to the world of Rainbow Falls, only the focus this time isn't Vincent van Colt and Sunset Shimmer, although the former does appear for the first scene. The first few paragraphs provide a recap of events explaining where the story left off, and this serves as the bridge to Volume 3, when we finally get to work on it. Timber Spruce and Fluttershy are pretty much the main focus for this one-off story, showing how the former is getting on after the last year or so had taken a toll on him emotionally, along with the beginning of his relationship with Fluttershy. I'm hoping to carry on with his character growth for Volume 3, and I promise it won't take nineteen months longer for it to be posted. Friendship is Magic may have ended, but Art of a Sun's Love is far from over.
