Franklin calls Charlie to see if he's free, "hey Charlie, you busy, man?"

"No why?"

"Is Lucy around?"

"She's at home."

"Cool. I need to pick you up, I guess Linus too, if he ain't busy, it's important bruh."

"Okay, I'll call Linus and see if he can come, what's it all about?"

"Yall gotta hear this shit in person, trust me, it's mind-boggling to say the least, repugnant at the wrost."

"Get here, so we can talk," Charlie hung up.

Franklin pulled up in front of Charlie's car, blowing his horn, Charlie and Linus came out of his house, getting in his car.

"Where we headed," Linus asked.

"I don't know at the moment. I needed to talk to yall because yall often have good clarity. Hear me out; Patty was trying to set me up with Violet, I was apprehensive about it at first, and…"

"Yeah I'd be reluctant, to," Charlie interrupted.

"Uh-huh, who could blame you. She was a bit stand-offish about it, but after talking, we hung out today and everything was going good, I was actually starting to like her. She helped with you and Lucy, so maybe she was worth a chance. Anyway her parents came home while we were in the theater… maaaannnn… all this time I didn't know- I don't believe it; her parents are racist."

"What," they both yelled.

"They were trying to figure out why we were alone together, like it was a big deal."

"You've been over there a lot, though," Linus said.

"I know! Out of the blue, I'm not good enough. Violet lost her shit."

"She didn't know about it?"

"Not at all, Linus. After it was said and done, she thought I was going to give up on her. I know it's probably just the situation, but I started wanting her more. What do I do, what do we do?"

"That's tough; I don't know how you can change the mind of a racist, what about you, Linus?"

"I think you could prove you're worth Violets time, but that stuff is so ingrained, it might not matter."

"Right, they might not be able to see past their own prejudices."

"I was thinking about telling Patty what happened."

"Let's go, she's pretty smart," Charlie agreed.

"We'll go with you, I'll call her," Linus pulled out his phine.

"Thanks man," he pulled off.

"Hey baby… yeah I miss you too, look; I'm on my way over there with Franklin, he needs to discuss something with you about Violet, we all do…. He told us about your match making, but there's a wrench in the system, as it were… no, he said he likes her… it's her parents… he'll lay it all out for you… thanks, love you too," he hung up, "let's go."

They pull up to Patty's house, she was waiting outside for them, greeting Linus with a hug and kiss.

"I'm sorry this isn't a more pleasant situation, baby."

"There's always tomorrow, "she kissed him, "c'mon guys."

Once seated in the living room, and her mom out the way, she began.

"So… did you get along with her?"

"Yeah, you were right, Violet is pretty cool lil Juggalette."

"A what… Violet," Charlie blurted.

"Yeah I heard Lucy complaining about it once," Linus mentioned.

"Anyway, we were feeling each other, until her parents came home, I'm going to cut to the chase and say both of them are racist."

Patty's jaw dropped, "are you fucking serious," she gasped with wide eyes.

"Yeah, they were asking her if it was just us, because they only heard my voice, why was she having such an intimate moment with me, alone, we didn't understand why they were questioning us like that, I've been over there several times before."

"You've even helped us clean up after parties… come to think of it, they rarely did talk to you, that I noticed, never once asked you to leave."

"I know. I figured it out and Violet started to lose it, they tried to say they weren't racist, but it looked to intimate."

"Her and Shermy used to be there by themselves all the time, even late on school nights, and I never heard it was a problem."

"That's what she said! But it was different because it was me. Violet started cussin' them out, once her mom was about to call me a nigger, I said my piece and left."

"Oh my god! What the fuck!"

"Dude, you didn't tell us that," Linus chimed in.

"I thought her parents were better than that, she almost called you… the n-word," Charlie spoke.

"I didn't want to say anything about that part, but it's just making me madder, Charlie."

"What about Violet, she hasn't even called me."

"I went and got them and came straight here. She ran after me, hugging me and crying, begging me not to break up with her… I think she was having an asthma attack, too."

"Panic attack. If she gets too upset, rare as it is, she has a panic attack. I think she really likes you."

"Both of us usually keep a cool head, I think we got caught in the moment, we want each other even more, now."

"I don't see anything wrong with that… okay yeah, I get it, but if she needs you that bad, is it bad?"

"But what do we do, Patty, they couldn't think of anything, we've never dealt with this kinda shit."

"Hmm… right. I don't know either. What could we do other than maybe tell our parents?"

"We could probably tell the school," Charlie thought aloud.

"Their associates maybe," Linus added.

"We'd need proof, though."

"I told her to record anything with her phone to be safe. I don't want nothing to happen to her."

"Especially after beating up Shermy," she gave a weak laugh.

"I didn't think she was so down to earth, I ain't trying to lose her already."

"I hope she comes to school, I should call her," Patty went to get her phone.

Her mother walks in from the kitchen, "James and Heather are racist, is that what I heard?"

"Yeah, Violet didn't even know, it's sickening."

"That's just a damn shame, I don't believe it. Yeah I was meddling, when you hear somebodies racist, you tend to poke your ears up. Don't let it get you down Franklin, I know you're a decent guy, hearing what all Violet went through with that Shermy boy, they oughta be thankful somebody wants to treat her right. I knew, just knew there was something I didn't like about that bitch Heather."

"Mom," Patty yelled, walking in the living room.

"I don't want to hear shit about it, this isn't some game, this is serious. If you can get proof, you should probably talk to Frieda's parents, they have the connections, I'll call them myself in the morning."

"Umm… thanks mom."

"Yeah. I don't think I'm going to get much sleep over this."

"Who could blame you, Franklin," her mom replied.

"Hey Violet, how are you doing, girl?"

"I just found out my parents are racist and don't want me dating Franklin," she cried.

"I know, Franklin is over here now, I have you on speaker."

"Violet, what's going on," Franklin asked.

"They won't leave me alone, they want me break up with you! I'm angry, I'm scared, I can't find my center to breath right. I locked myself in my room."

"Don't worry, Hun, we're going to help somehow," Her mother blurted.

"Ms. Jones, I wish I could stay with you."

"I bet you do."

"You recording, right?"

"Yes bae, and I miss you."

"Hey Violet, I'm sorry this all happened to you and Franklin," Charlie said.

"That actually means a lot, Charlie. My emotions are everywhere, but is it wrong to say; I love you… Franklin?"

"If that's how you really feel, Violet."

"I think I do."

"You kids and your puppy love," her mother laughed.

"What are you thinking of doing with the recordings," Linus asked.

"I've been recording and posting it online. I want to hit them where it hurts."

"That's a good idea, it won't be ignored then," Charlie figured.

"Nope. They have people who manage some of their social media accounts, they know I post on there and shouldn't bother with it."

"I'm happy we picked up on each other, girl, you're brilliant."

"That is smart Hun, it'll piss them off, hopefully force some kinda change. Either way, it'll be a crazy PR issue. Keep your head up, Violet, I think you got a good guy to hold you up."

"I just hope they let me go to school. I owe you guys, they seemed to have left me alone, I'm gonna try to calm down and get to sleep. Bye yall… bye Franklin."

"Take care," Linus greeted.

"See ya Violet," Franklin said.

"Keep up hope," Charlie said.
