(M-mail short for mirror mail which is what I have dubbed the emails of this world, I don't recall email being mentioned in the series, but feel free to correct me If I am wrong.)
Chapter thirteen:
As Raven walked across the dorm room to her side of the room, she was so lost in thinking back over her time with Darling and how much delight it had brought to her, that she was completely unaware of Apple watching her.
Apple couldn't help but notice that Raven was smiling softly to herself, there was a light in her eyes which she had never seen there before and to Apple's eyes both of these things rendered Raven even more beautiful than she had been before.
Apple had often imagined what Raven might look like if she were to fall in love with her, but her imagination had in no way measured up to seeing what Raven actually looked like when completely in love with someone. Apple's insides physically ached at this sight, all she wanted to do was cross the room, take Raven in her arms and kiss her, but she knew that if she was to do this Raven would reject her and that as was her right as Raven's knight and prince Darling, would take steps to see Raven safe from such unwanted actions.
So instead, Apple reigned in her desires and made sure to hide her own feelings towards Raven from her by plastering one of her best princess smiles on her face and asking Raven in an over cheerful voice. "What did the headmaster have to say to you both?"
"Oh, the headmaster wanted to talk to us about our new parts, to tell us we would need new class schedules and to take the rest of today off so he could organise our new lessons and then m-mail it to us. Speaking of that, I should really see if it has arrived yet!" As Raven said this last part, she found her mirror pad and started it up.
"Are you looking forwards to the party tonight?" Apple asked trying to keep the friendly but casual conversation between them going, so she wouldn't start focusing on her romantic feelings for Raven once again.
Raven nodded to Apple and said enthusiastically. "Yes, I am! I have promised all my slow dances for the party to Darling. I am sure it will be wonderful to have her at my side for the whole evening."
Apple tried hard not to react negatively to Raven dancing every slow dance with Darling for the night, or demand one of those dances for herself and somehow manage to ask Raven instead. "Are you going to change dresses for tonight?"
"No, Darling and I felt that no one would mind if we came as we are, after all we hardly have time in order to find something new to ware to the party tonight." Raven told Apple as she looked through her messages on her mirror pad.
"Ah! Here is the message from the head master." Raven said aloud, before opening it up and reading the message the headmaster had sent her.
As Apple watched Raven consulting the new lesson time table which the headmaster had sent her, she found herself extremally curious as to what classes he had given her and so Apple asked Raven. "So, what is your new lesson schedule like?"
Raven didn't look up from her mirror pad but answered Apple's question. "Well, to be honest it's quiet a mixture…Let's see, bewitching song, kingdom management, geofairy, chemythstry, science and sorcery, science and spells, good magic mastery, advanced allusions, damsel-in-distressing, muse-ic, dance class-ic and best training and care."
"I think all of those lessons make a lot of sense for your new part." Apple said with a nod for Raven.
"You really think so?" Raven asked clearly unable to believe what she was reading.
Apple walked across the room, she sat on the bed beside Raven and said to her. "I really think so and I am sure that you will take to your new classes with ease, but if you do struggle with anything, I will be more than happy to help you with them."
Raven looked at Apple and gave her a grateful look. "Thanks Apple!"
"You are very welcome Raven it's what friends are for after all." Apple assured her, before saying with confusion. "I'm surprised that the headmaster didn't put princessology in your lesson schedule."
Raven quickly explained why she thought the headmaster had not assigned her that class. "Don't you remember Apple I tried that once before? I didn't like it and couldn't really get to grips with it either. I told the headmaster that when I wanted to drop the class, I guess he decided not to try to make me take it again."
Apple nodded to her. "Yes, that would make sense. Is there anything there you are looking forwards to trying for the first time?"
"Yes, good magic mastery! I can't wait to see what I can do with my magic now. I love music so the music and singing classes should be fun." Raven told Apple in an excited voice.
Seeing Raven looking so happy and excited made Apple feel happy. "It's good to see you happy and looking forwards to your lessons, rather than dreading them. I have to say I think you are going to make Darling a wonderful lady princess."
A slight blush coloured Raven's cheeks as Apple said this to her. "Thank you, Apple."
"Is Darling coming later to pick you up and escorting you to the party?" Apple asked her curiously, while trying not to sound angry that Darling would be the one taking Raven to the party tonight, rather than her.
Raven nodded to her, then said to her with sparkling eyes and in a joyful voice. "Yes, she is. I can't wait to spend my first event beside her as her lady princess!"
Somehow Apple managed to smile at her roommate. "I am sure that the two of you are going to make an enchanting couple tonight."
"Thank you, for saying that Apple." Raven said to her in a grateful voice.
They lapsed into silence as Raven pulled out her mirror phone and started to change her lesson schedule on it. Once this was done, she also changed it on her mirror pad as well, Raven then started to read the rest of the message the headmaster had sent her and when Raven was finished, she turned to Apple and spoke to her. "The headmaster says all my teachers will be giving me any new lesson books I'll need, the teachers have been informed by him to give me any extra help I need to adjust to my new classes and I will be allowed extra time to catch up on the lessons. Thank goodness that the spring term only started a month ago, that should mean I'll be able to catch up fairly quickly."
"You are a very good student, so I am sure you will be able to do so in no time." Apple told her in agreement.
Raven shot Apple a grateful look as she said to her. "Thanks for saying so Apple."
Apple smiled at Raven. "You are welcome." There was so much which Apple wanted to say to Raven, but she couldn't find the words to say those things without somehow doing permanent damaging the relationship between them and that was something she didn't want to ever happen.
So instead of saying or doing anything she might regret Apple stood up and said to Raven as she did so. "I'm going to get to my thronework."
Raven smiled at her roommate saying to her cheerfully. "Okay Apple. I think I'll message my father about the change in my situation and then read my book until Darling comes to get me for the party."
Apple replied to this by nodding to Raven and then making her way back over to her desk to star on her thronework. When Apple looked up from it a short while later and looked over at her roommate, she found Raven deeply absorbed in her book. A fond smile spread over Apple's face as she watched Raven for a moment, before she turned back and continued on with her thronework.
Several hours later, Raven was drawn out of her book by the sound of knocking on the door of the dorm room. Raven marks her page, places the book onto the bedside table, she made her way across the room to the door and opened it.
As soon as she saw Darling was there for her, Raven smiled softly at Darling as she stepped into the room and said to her. "Hello my Charming lady knight."
"Hello my lady princess, are you ready to go to the party?" Darling asked her politely and cheerfully.
Raven nodded to her. "Yes, I am."
Darling wordlessly offered her arm to Raven, who without hesitation put her arm through hers. Raven turned to Apple and addressed her. "I am heading down to the party with Darling now. I hope to see you at the party later."
Apple looks up from her thronework, she smiles over at them and said cheerfully. "I'll make my way down to the party once I get my thronework done!"
"Okay, see you later then." Raven said to her before waving good bye to Apple and making her way out of the dorm room arm in arm with Darling.
Darling and Raven made their way to the party Raven spoke too Darling. "I've messaged my father about my transformation, I hope to hear from him soon."
"I know you are looking forwards to his reaction to this news." Darling said to her with a wide smile on her face.
Raven nodded to her. "I am sure that he will be very happy for me."
A deep sigh left Darling, before she said to Raven. "I wish I could be so sure of my families' reaction."
Raven gave Darling a sympathetic look and gently squeezed her arm. "We are true loves, so if they are upset, I am sure that fact will help them to accept the fact."
"I truly hope so." Darling said with a hint of worry to her voice.
It upset Raven to hear her knight sounding so distressed, so she squeezed her arm comfortingly again and kissed her cheek, but said nothing to her as Raven was not sure what else she could say to Darling in order to somehow comfort her.
As they grew closer to the doors of the main hall, Darling and Raven could hear some of the sounds of the music and Darling trying to be more cheerful said to Raven with a smile on her face. "Sounds like it's going to be quiet the party."
Raven nodded and hummed with agreement. Darling released Raven's arm, she opened the door to the room, bowed politely to Raven, smiled at her and then held it open for her. Smiling widely Raven curtsied to Darling and spoke to her. "Why thank you my Charming lady knight."
"You are most welcome my lady princess." Darling said to her as Raven made her way past her and into the room which lay beyond.
(I know this is a bit of an odd place to end a chapter, but I felt if I had the party part of the story here too it would become to long for just one chapter.)
