"How many symbols do you need?" Tetsuya asks him, ducking his head in the room. "You have the triangle made out of little circles, then you got that cool looking tattoo and now these crescent moons…,"

"They're all a part of me." Jin replies, fixing on his Kazama crest cufflinks.

"Hmf, but what do they mean?"

Jin shows him the cufflinks.

"This means peace and justice. It's from my mother's clan."

"And the others?"

"The triangle means misfortune and the tattoo one means power."

Tetsuya furrows his brows. "I like the three crescent moons. It reminds me of the dojo I train at."

Jin stops what he's doing and looks at the boy. "You train at the Kazama dojo?"

"Yes, Asuka Kazama is my favorite teacher there."

Interesting. He'd have to check out the boy's command list later. See what his mother didn't teach him.

"Want to see something amazing?" Jin asks, opening a draw and pulling out a velvet box. The boy eagerly nods. Jin opens the box. It's a pearl necklace with a pendant in the shape of the tattoo.

"Is it for Nins?" The boy asks.

"Nins?"

"That's my nickname for Nina."

"Yes, it's for Nins."

"Wow, it's so pretty. I promise, I won't tell her!"

"Tell me what?" The familiar voice chimes in.

Speak of the assassin.

Jin instantly closes the box and puts it back in the drawer. Then looks at the blonde, who is in a black dressed adorned with gold patterns. She had a glittering headband to match too.

"Hey Nins! Jin thinks you look beautiful." Tetsuya tells Nina.

Gobsmacked, Jin looks at Nina whose eyes twinkle in amusement. He feels the boy gently nudge him in the ribs.

"Is that right Jin?"

Well, he wouldn't lie.

"You're looking very good today." Jin says with sincerity. "Very elegant."

"Thanks handsome. You're looking not so bad yourself."

"Awh man, I want to attend the banquet." Tetsuya whines.

"It's for grownups, Suya. Besides, Alisa will keep you company." Nina ruffles the boy's hair before stepping in. Jin raises an eyebrow, what did he just see?!

He keeps his eyes on the mirror when Nina appears behind him. Rests his gaze for a moment. Seeing both their reflections together in the mirror feels so right. As if he had finally found the missing piece he unknowingly was searching for a long time.

This was real.

This was his reality.

He wonders if she liked him the way he liked her. He likes her.

"What is it?" Nina asks, finally meeting his gaze in the mirror. She must have caught onto him having one of his deep in thought moments.

"Nothing." Jin says, turning away from the mirror.

Nina looks at him, sighs and steps closer without a word. Grabs his bowtie and straightens it. He observes her eyes as she's fixated on getting his bowtie to be perfect. She lifts her gaze up and gives him a small playful smile. What did that mean? That she too liked him back?

"There, it's better now."

It's a 1920's theme party that he's just walked into. Diamonds, gold and pearls glitter in the warm light. The zaibatsu banquet is pretty on the eyes but doesn't stop Jin from believing most of these people reeked of greed.

You're like Gatsby. All these people around you will not give two shits if you died in front of them, The devil cackles.

Jin thinks of Nina.

Even the blonde doesn't give a shit. Devil sneers. It's all about the paycheck.

"Well done to you Mr Kazama." A businessman says. "First one to snatch the oil fields from that stuck up Mr Rochefort!"

Jin doesn't shake his hand. Good, the anger inside that businessman will help in walking Azazel up.

"Don't be such a prick, Kazama." The man calls after him. "One day, your everything will be snatched."

Jin searches for Nina. He'd rather not be socializing with them but she argued that it was a necessary evil for the Zaibatsu and his plans. He finds her alone at the bar. Having a fancy drink. Without him. Hmpf!

Lucky her, he thinks. Not being harassed by anyone. It must have been her resting bitch face as she liked to call it. Kept people from annoying her. She finishes her drink.

"Unless you want to dance, I don't have any interest in sweet-talking your business associates." Nina says. "People will start labelling me as the lady of the manor."

Was he that bad that Nina didn't even want to be seen as someone he likes? The only woman he likes.

"Let's just dance then." Jin says, offering his hand. He didn't like dancing either but it was better than talking to strangers. It was better than listening to the devil mocking him. Her smooth hand slips into his.

"Look at you, a prey of all and a predator of none." Nina teases him as they join the other dancers. "How will you ever escape?"

He surprises her by snaking an arm around her waist. Not in like the past where he'd let her guide his arm there. Jin pulls her close and she lets out a tiny gasp before quickly composing herself again.

"Maybe I'm the predator and everyone else is the prey." Jin counters, looking at the banquet flags that adorned the huge ballroom. He looks at her in triumph. "Even you could be my prey."

"Ha! You wish." She answers softly as they sway.

"Either way. You're stuck with me for now, lady of my manor."
