"What time is it?" Jin asks.

"Eleven Fifty Nine." Nina answers, "Don't you have a watch?"

"Stand here for one minute." Jin replies. "It's not a request."

She's so frustrated but confused too and decides not to turn into a nag. Nina stays put and a silence befalls them. Jin rests his cheek against his palm, closes his eyes and for a moment, Nina worries he's fallen asleep. In his office. So he wants to make sure she watches him sleep. Fantastic.

But her eyes linger over his face. He was at ease and looked very handsome. There wasn't a scowl on his face. Nina had the urge to reach over and brush his bangs. There was something about Jin that made her feel.

Earlier this week, she caught Jin reading with Tetsuya. It was some Japanese literary novel that if played on the piano would be akin to Moonlit Sonata or something. Hearing Jin's voice, his deep melancholic voice was surprisingly soothing and the boy thought so too. She never saw Tetsuya stay put for longer than five minutes.

She remembers all those times she tried to bring up the topic of Tetsuya. But abandoned it.

Jin hadn't been so moody lately. Thanks to the presence of Tetsuya.

He needs the boy to stick around for a while, Nina guessed. For his own good.

It did sting a little that she wasn't the cause of his happiness.

Nina checks her watch.

"What time is it?" Comes a deep baritone, almost startling her.

"Midnight."

"Happy Valentines' day."

Umm, what?

Jin opens his eyes and hands her a box. Dumfounded, she opens it. There's a stunning diamond necklace with the tribal insignia. Nina lets her fingers run through it.

"I didn't take you for the romantic type."

"Aren't you going to put it on?" Jin asks.

"Aren't you going to put it on me?" She asks and hates that her voice wavers a little.

He follows her to the master bedroom and she watches in the mirror as he fastens the necklace on her. His bangs tickle her before he kisses her nape. She shivers, feeling the warmth radiate throughout her body.

"It's beautiful." Nina whispers. "Thank you."

Behind her, Jin smiles.

In bed, she catches him watching her before she falls asleep. Feels his arms wrap around her. She lets a few tears slide down her face before wiping them away. He wouldn't know. His arms remain around her.

Nina doesn't fight him off.
