Greetings!

Welcome to my second fanfiction!

As usual, the main character is my oc, Av'Rick Mephilis.

Those of you who have read my other work, might be wondering "Why are you writing a fanfiction about a teen who gets power ups from touching women's breasts?".

My answer to that is, I find the whole premise of DxD stupid, so I'm going to make it weird.

If you find yourself confused by my answer, that's a good thing, because that's what I intend to make everyone in the story feel.

Confused that someone who's never harnessed arcane forces, was blessed by one or more gods, or was granted the power to enact miracles, could still preform feats that could easily be called supernatural - but actually isn't.

Obviously, this someone is Av'Rick, who uses the one thing that wouldn't usually fit in something like High School DxD, without some form of esoteric element behind it: Science.

Or, more specifically 'Super Science' from the Superpowers Wiki website. That's how I expect Av'Rick to be weird in a world filled with angels, dragons, inverted mermaids, faunu- yokai, etc. Using advanced science to study, combat and weird out the supernatural.

Now then, let the story start now!

Chapter 1: The boy who doesn't believe

"Well, this is interesting." Azazel, the angel from the fifth layer of heaven who fell from grace, says.

Stroking his black goatee, he looks at the boy, whose memory he tried to erase and failed, in curiosity.

He just met this kid, after finally convincing Vali to come with him, but not before having to beat some sense into him that he doesn't have any malicious intent of taking him under his wing.

Next thing he knows, an eight year old boy with unremarkable features, apart from his dark skin and emotionless expression, comes out of nowhere, and starts calling them mutants.

Azazel has been called many things over the centuries, but mutant is definitely a first - and definitely amusing.

He had to stop Vali from killing him though, as he didn't take being called a mutant so well.

So, when he decided to erase the kid's memories - at Vali's insistence - he found that his magic has no effect on his mind.

The reason?

"I rewired my brain to be immune to almost all forms of psychic phenomena."

Is his explanation of why memory manipulation doesn't work on him. Odd still, was how unusually calm he is.

"The old man didn't use 'psychic phenomena' you Weirdo, he used magic to try to erase your memories."

"Incorrect, he utilised psionics in his unsuccessful attempt to alter my mind."

"Magic."

"Psionics."

"Magic!"

"Psionics."

"MAGIC!"

And now, Vali's arguing with him, with the cambion descendant of Lucifer growing increasingly frustrated at the boy's calm dismissal.

"What am I going to do with you now?" Azazel sighs, while scratching his black hair with gold bangs, before coming to a conclusion.

"Hey Vali! Kid!" He calls out to them, just as the silver haired ex-runaway is getting ready to attack the eerily tranquil boy, getting their attention.

"My name is Av'Rick."

"We're heading to the Grigori, you're both coming with me."

"What?! Why is he coming?!" Vali asks, his ten year old body shaking in disbelief and rage.

"Because, he's interesting." It's the truth. The boy's immune to memory alteration, has a strange way of speaking for someone his age, and he seems unfazed that two strangers manifested wings and chalked it up as some form of mutation, instead of magic.

Yeah, there's more to this kid than meets the eye.

"I have no interest accompanying you to whatever civilization you mutants have created."

"We're not mutants! He's a fallen angel, and I'm a descendant of Lucifer!" Vali corrects him in irritation.

"I do not know what a fallen angel is, nor who this Lucifer." Av'Rick replies.

This causes Vali and Azazel's eyes to widen.

"Lucifer, you know, the first angel cast out of heaven by God." Azazel explains.

"None of those words are familiar to me.

"What the hell does that mean?! How could you not know God, everyone knows him! The town nearby goes to church to pray to him!" Vali yells in frustration.

"If you are referring to the large black building they were attending, you should know that they were muttering about someone known as 'the Lord', not this 'God' individual, along with some other nonsense."

"That's because they're one in the same you idiot! And that nonsense you're talking about is called praying!"

"And praying is?"

"ARGH! I give up! Old man, just take us to your home or whatever, I'm done with this!"

Azazel let's out a sigh, but complies as he understands where Vali's coming from.

He's interacted with people who were ignorant of science, but never with people who are ignorant of Christianity. At least, not to this extent.

Soon a magic circle forms underneath them, transporting the trio out of Earth and into the underworld.

Grigori - Azazel's office

Arriving at Azazel's office, the first thing everyone sees is mountains of paperwork strewn across the room, except for the window, which shows a purple sky.

"Here we are. Welcome to the Grigori! Don't mind the paperwork, I'll have my second in command deal with it." Azazel says outstretching his arms to emphasis the grandiose of the organization he founded with his peers.

The Grigori is located far away from where the majority of the devils, and grim reapers reside in the underworld, occupying a large plot of land for the fallen angels to thrive in when they were kicked out of heaven - after the three way war they fought in, against their angel brethren and the devil denizens.

Walking towards the window, the looks outside and sees the many fallen angels fly outside to get to where they need to be.

"I see I was mistaken. It's clear you are not a mutant if their this many of you with the same phenotypes." Av'Rick concludes to himself about Azazel being a mutant.

"Finally." Vali sighs, not knowing Av'Rick still considers him a mutant.

"You're actually aliens."

"God dammit!"

I'll stop right there for now.

Have you ever met religious people that are so fanatic that they don't believe in science? Well Av'Rick is the opposite of that in this story.

He's so scientific that he doesn't understand the concept of religion itself.

He's not an atheist, where he doesn't believe in God. It's more like, the concept of a higher being is completely foreign to him, and he would likely just try to become one himself to meet others to satisfy his curiosity of what it's like to be a God.

How would he do that? With science of course! There's even a page on the Superpowers Wiki website called 'Scientific Entity Physiology' where you have God-like power over science. Or he could be a 'Transcendent Scientist' or a 'Transcendent Machine' or maybe even an 'Artificial God'. I haven't decided yet. But I guarantee you he won't become a devil, angel, yokai, dragon or any other supernatural creature permanently. He still might become some of them for the sake of science, but it will be temporary once he's done understanding their physiology.

For now he's a Cyberorganism who is also a scientist, despite his age. Look up 'Cyberorganism Physiology' and 'Archetype:Scientist' for more details.

Furthermore, this story is a harem fic as well, but it's DxD, most fanfic based on it usually are.

If you don't like that, check out my other story 'A Weirdo in this Bizarre Wacky World'. I promise it's not a harem fic, and is very funny.

I have a good idea on who's joining, most of them will primarily be spellcasters or practioners of the supernatural arts, for the irony, and the situations that manifest as a result of the rational and irrational.

I hope I nailed Azazel's personality right. I know Vali doesn't typically behave so temperamental as he does in canon, but my reason for this is because he's ten right now, and just ran away from an abusive home, leaving the one person who cared about him, so I figured it's natural for him to feel moody about the circumstances he's in. Especially when a random kid his age pops out of nowhere, and starts labelling him a mutant.

I think that covers everything.

See you in the next chapter.
