I'm back!

If you've seen my previous username, before I've changed it to my current one, then you know why It's 'The embodiment of Weirdness' now. I don't want Av'Rick Mephilis to be a self insert, which was what my previous username implied. I want him to be an original character, in this, and all my other stories he's featured in.

Av'Rick Mephilis is, who I idealize as my perfect self, as Av'Rick Mephilis is the name and character I desire to be, but know I can never achieve to be. When I say that, I don't mean being an Eroge Protagonist, with op skills, surrounded by beautiful women. I'm talking about being a Weirdo who has his own form of logic completely different from other people that still fits into this current society, because if my outlook on life is so alien to everyone else, then the many life problems I face on a daily basis can't bother me as they do to do many other people, that's who I want to be.

I'm only writing DxD as a harem fic because it's pretty much an unspoken tradition to do so. But for those who make single paired ship fics - congrats for not making your DxD stories a harem fic and putting a unique spin on it. Because even though mine has a harem in it, you can't possibly expect me to create a situation you'd see in any other harem anime/manga/fanfic. Av'Rick's a Weirdo, you can't expect Weirdoes to behave the same way as a normal people would, especially when women are sharing you for your affection with them. He'd make the whole thing weird. Instead of the man having a hard time handling the women in his harem, it's the women in the harem having a hard time handling their man.

After all, how do you handle someone with Uncommon Sense, rather than a normal person who has Common sense?

That's what you're here to find out in the sub plot of this story. The main plot is what would happen if you don't believe in magic, and rationalise it as something else, weirding out everyone around you, as you do.

So with that, let the story continue!

Chapter 2: The Oddities keep on coming

"Come on you two this way." Azazel says, guiding Av'Rick and Vali through the hallways of the Grigori to his personal laboratory.

After calming down the young cambion from Av'Rick's odd conclusion about what fallen angels are, as well as the fact he's not letting up the idea that Vali is a mutant, the governor general thought it would be a good idea for a medical checkup, as well as a few other checkups for them to see any interesting abnormalities.

Such as the kind of power Vali wields as a result of being a descendant of Lucifer as well as being half human, which enabled him to be bestowed the power to enact miracles by the Christian God - an-as-of-yet unidentified longinus class Sacred Gear, as a result of his human heritage.

Or maybe, finding out the reasons behind Av'Rick's immunity to memory alteration, his way of speaking and why he has no idea what Christianity and it's associated mythologies, will be a far more riveting discovery than he originally anticipated.

As they walk down the hallway they pass by many fallen angels, many of them giving looks of disdain and confusion. Disdain at Vali, as they can sense what he is, and confusion at Av'Rick, as they can't sense anything supernatural about him at all.

"Azazel!" An almost inhuman voice calls out, causing the trio to stop to see who called Azazel out.

The newcomer has long black hair, sharp teeth, pointy ears and bloodshot eyes (as in, both his pupils and sclera are different shades of red). Just like almost every other fallen angel Av'Rick has seen so far, the stranger's outfit mostly consists of leather.

"Ah, Kokabiel." Azazel addresses the fallen angel with a disarming smile. "To what do I owe the pleasure of one of my fellow cadres gracing me in his presence." He says in amusement.

Kokabiel, one of the leaders of the Grigori, and a veteran of the Great War. He's a warmonger who believed the fallen angels could've won the war, if it wasn't for Azazel ordering them to retreat when - spoiler alert - God died (not that Av'Rick knows since he doesn't even know who God actually is). Ever since then, Kokabiel resented his superior, and has tried to reignite the war but failed over the centuries.

"I see you have company." Kokabiel replies, glaring at the kids. He assumes they're both holders of a sacred gear, since Azazel recently developed an interest in God's gift to grant miracles.

Vali returns the glare, while Av'Rick stares at his ears... What?

A mischievous glint briefly appears Azazel's eyes.

"Sure do! Allow me to introduce you to Vali and Av'Rick! Kids, say hi to Kokabiel."

"Piss off!" "Are you a mutant?"

Azazel, Vali, and Kokabiel turn towards Av'Rick.

"What?" Kokabiel questions.

"Are you a mutant?" Av'Rick repeats.

By now, Azazel is trying not to smile, one of Vali's eye's begins twitching, and Kokabiel's face starts to form an expression between irritation and bewilderment.

"I am not a mutant, human. I am one of God's most powerful creations." He answer's arrogantly, trying to make Av'Rick intimidated.

"So this 'God' person is a bio-engineer?"

Only for Av'Rick to come to a seemingly random conclusion, causing Kokabiel's arrogance to falter and scowl at him.

Trying not to laugh, Azazel explains to Kokabiel Av'Rick's odd answer.

"I forgot to mention that Av'Rick has no idea who or what God is, and thinks fallen angels are aliens. Actually, why did you think Kokabiel is a mutant Av'Rick?"

"He is the only 'fallen angel', as you call yourselves, to have pointed ears and eyes with red pupils and red sclera."

"How the hell does that make me a mutant?!" Kokabiel demands, since he's a warrior, not a scientist.

"Any individual exhibiting traits, not visible to other members of their species is a mutant. Therefore, you are a mutant." Av'Rick robotically explains.

Before Kokabiel could do anything to Av'Rick, for calling him something as derogatory as a mutant, Azazel steps in.

"Alright that's enough. Kokabiel, leave the kid alone, he's still young and has no idea what Christianity or it's associated mythologies like angels are, and Av'Rick, as funny as this is, Kokabiel isn't a mutant. God gave him those pointy ears on purpose - for whatever reason - and his eyes are a result from his lack of sleep."

"Why is he tired?" Av'Rick inquires Azazel.

"Ever since the Great War, Kokabiel has tried finding ways of satiating his bloodlust, to the point he neglects sleeping, searching for an opponent for days."

"Bloodlust? He has intense sexual desire for blood?" Av'Rick asks, causing Azazel to laugh out loud, Vali to slap his forehead at Av'Rick's ignorance, and Kokabiel trying to hold in his desire to kill him, lest he faces Azazel's wrath.

"He means he's a battle maniac, moron." Vali explains in frustration.

"A what?"

"He's addicted to fighting, strong people."

"Why?"

"Because the prospect of fighting strong opponents is exhilarating for me!" Kokabiel declares pridefully.

"...Does he need rehab? This sounds like the side effect of a drug that stimulates adrenaline in the brain."

Only to have his pride falter from the boy's conclusion, and become irritated at his lack acknowledgment of what Kokabiel considers great about himself.

This is followed by Azazel laughing again, and Vali giving up trying to explain anything to Av'Rick, deciding it would be easier to have the governor general do the explaining instead.

"Okay, that's enough for now." Says Azazel, when he finished laughing. "We should get going you two. It was nice seeing you Kokabiel!"

Azazel bids Kokabiel goodbye, and continues on towards his lab with Vali and Av'Rick.

Meanwhile Kokabiel, stares in the direction the trio left, with his mind swirling with various emotions, mostly consisting of rage and confusion on Av'Rick.

He'll make sure the boy experiences the full awe and terror of one of God's greatest seraphs.

And as for the half-breed that's with Azazel, Kokabiel isn't really all that worried about some spawn between an inferior devil and an even more inferior human. Are his thoughts on Vali, comparing him to the child of his other colleague when he fornicated with that priestess.

With that, Kokabiel walls away, plotting his next attempt at restarting the war, which he'll execute in - maybe eight years time.

Azazel's Personal Lab

"Just what are you?" Azazel mutters to himself about Av'Rick, after giving him and Vali a thorough examination of their physiologies with his lab equipment.

When he examined Vali to determine what his Sacred Gear is, it turns out to be Divine Dividing - a pair of white futuristic dragon wings containing the soul of the Vanishing dragon, Albion. Previous wielders of this Sacred Gear have earned the moniker of 'White Dragon Emperor', powerful individuals who can (as well as other proficient Longinus class Sacred Gear wielders) challenge and kill gods or god-like beings, and are destined to face of the current 'Red Dragon Emperor', wielders of the Boosted Gear, another Longinus Sacred Gear, that houses the soul of Albion's arch-rival, the Welsh dragon, Draig.

Combined with his devil heritage, this means that Vali can potentially become, the most powerful White Dragon Emperor than all previous generations of White Dragon Emperors before him, which pleased Vali to no end that he can get strong enough to save his mother.

As daunting and exciting as that prospect is for Azazel, he's now busy wondering where Av'Rick comes from before he met Vali and the cadre.

After using his magitek equipment to scan his body, he discovered that the boy has a lot deviations from a baseline human.

Firstly, his brain has far more denser neurons occupying the same amount of space for a normal brain to take up in a human skull, as well as heightened brain activity, not physically possible for a human being to possess. Secondly, his circulatory system, blood vessels, and nerve and neurological pathways are all spread out of his body in a circuit-like fashion, making it look like some sort of person shaped motherboard. Lastly, and most strangely-

"So you say, Azazel treats you well? I see... It's good to know he's not abusive."

-is his apparent ability to 'talk' to machines. Right now he's talking to the control console for his sprinkler system, he keeps in his lab, in case any fire derived from his experiments arises.

"Who are you even talking to?" Asks Vali.

"The sprinkler system obviously." Av'Rick replies, like it's self explanatory as to why he's talking to, what Vali sees, an inanimate object.

"What? That thing?!" Vali exclaims pointing to the console.

"Don't be racist Vali. David is very sensitive to other people's opinions about him."

"David?! You named it David?!"

"David is a he, not an 'it'... Ignore him David, he's just technophobic. Apparently. No need to get upset about it."

"It's a dumb machine! It can't get upset about anything!"

Just as Vali finishes his rant, the sprinklers go off, dousing the whole lab, including Vali and Azazel, on cold water.

Oddly enough, only the one above Av'Rick isn't pouring anything, leaving him dry.

"Vali, apologise now to David for being insensitive." Av'Rick demands calmly.

"What?! Why would I apologise to something that doesn't have emotions?!"

The sprinkler above Vali suddenly starts to pour more heavily, causing him to stagger under the pressure and icy water. As he tries to get away from the sprinkler he's under to another sprinkler, that new sprinkler suddenly starts to pour heavily in the same freezing water as the last one Vali was under.

"Vali! I think you should just do it!" Azazel reasons, seeing as how he's never seen his sprinkler system do anything like this, before Av'Rick's interaction with it.

"Okay okay! Fine! I'm sorry! Did you hear that 'David'?! I apologise! Now please, stop pouring so much fucking water on everything!" Vali yells, as he can't much more of the cold water.

Just as quickly as he apologised, the sprinklers stop raining water, leaving a small flood in the lab.

Fortunately for Azazel, his most important blueprints and documents were magically waterproofed, so the only real problem now was to clean the lab. As well as drying himself.

"Alright guys, I'm going to dry myself up now. While I do that, you two start cleaning up the floor. There's a cupboard full of cleaning supplies to your left. Have fun with that."

And just like that, Azazel teleports himself away from his lab before either boys could get a word in.

"ARGH!" Vali yells, frustrated from getting drenched in cold water. "This is your fault!"

"Okay." Av'Rick simply answers. "At least you're not blaming David. That's all that matters."

"That's all you have to say?!" Vali exclaims in both rage and disbelief.

Rage at being having to clean the lab, and disbelief that Av'Rick doesn't feel anything about this incident. In fact, he hasn't seen him express any kind of emotion ever since he met him - unless he counts curiosity.

Just what is he?

Aaaand, that's a wrap for this chapter.

If you are confused about why the sprinkler became haywire, it was because Vali hurt the sprinkler system's feelings.

Now, normally this wouldn't happen at all, because just talking to a machine without a self-aware A.I. wouldn't cause strange things to happen, but there were two factors here that caused the sprinkler to behave the way it did. Firstly, Av'Rick has 'Cyberlinguism', which let's him communicate with machines that normally wouldn't be able to 'talk', as a result of him being a Cyberorganism. Secondly, the sprinkler system is technomagical, as in Azazel built it himself by using a combination of technology and supernatural forces. That's what I assume anyway, since the stuff he makes on his lab could be potentially dangerous, if he makes them wrong, so he would need powerful fail-safes, so as a researcher, it would make sense for Azazel to have his fail-safes to be technomagical. The point is, when Av'Rick interacted with the sprinkler system, the supernatural forces gave it a sort of pseudo-conscientiousness which Av'Rick sensed in the machine without knowing, thinking it was an A.I. construct.

But it won't be the only thing he mistakes for an A.I., as you'll see in the next chapter.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter.

See you next time
