Chapter 5
"What are you thinking?" Marcel curiously asked Vincent. He could tell he recognized the standing stones the girl was talking about.
"This girl-" Vincent stopped not knowing how much he should say to Marcel. "Can we get her to a secure place. Somewhere private. We need to talk with no prying eyes and ears. I'll keep her out until we want her aware again."
Marcel nodded at Vincent and picked the girl up. "follow me friend."
Marcel made a call on the way to the compound where he lived. "Fierie – Yeah, listen I need some privacy – Yeah everything is fine – No just have everyone leave the compound until I need them back on site – Don't worry about a thing. Keep everyone in line while they're out and about while I tend to some business – Thanks." "We will have full privacy; now tell me what the deal is with this chick." Marcel said casually as he looked over at Vincent in the car next to him.
"When we are securely in the compound with Miss Elena we can talk." He said seriously without turning his eyes away from the road.
"Ok talk." Marcel said sternly as he laid Elena onto a leather couch lightly and put a grey knit blanket over her.
"Those standing stones- this girl –" he said shaking his head as he pointed slowly at her "It should be impossible…but I guess my granny did always say expect the impossible." He said almost chuckling thinking back on his granny. An Elder and powerful wise witch. He always knew better than to not believe what she told him. Vincent continued after a moment.
"The stories have always been told-" They were interrupted by a gasping Elena.
"Ugh" Elena shot up as her eyes shot open and she gasped for air.
"I thought you were going to keep her under?" Marcel glared. He wanted to know the full story and make sure he could keep control before having to make a decision on what to do with the girl.
"Yeah I guess that didn't go as planned." Vincent said sarcastically with his head cocked to the side as he looked at Elena.
"Where am I?"
"Somewhere private- where no one is going to find you if you decide you wanna cause trouble right now." Marcel smirked.
Elena relaxed back into the couch crossing her arms across her chest and rolling her eyes annoyed that nothing could ever be simple with vampires. It always had to be cryptic. "What do you want? Get it over with. Everyone always wants something with the doppelganger." She watched both of the men look at each other and instantly realized they clearly didn't realize she in fact was a doppelganger and now there was just another reason for them to kill her.
"Interesting." Vincent smiled. "Incredible really."
"What do you guys want with me. Just get it out. Wait—" Instantly stopping and remembering that she had just gone through the standing stones and not only left everyone else behind but did not go into the past like she intended. She thought back to her friends. Oh my god. She thought to each of them hoping that they weren't freaking out. Mainly hoping that Damon didn't lose his shit and start massacring the entire town of Mystic Falls in an attempt to block out any type of pain. "What year is it?"
"2019"Marcel said confused as he looked over at Vincent.
Ok so only one year from when she jumped through the stones. One year from hours ago.. how the fuck did this happen. I knew something wasn't right about this entire thing. She looked up when she realized her face was scrunched up in concentrated thought.
"What year did you think it was darlin?" Marcel chucked in a curious, almost condescending way.
She hesitated before answering but felt in her gut she could trust these two men. Something felt familiar, almost like home. "2018." She looked down then looked back up sheepishly from under her long lashes.
"How did you get through?" Vincent leaned forward talking low and serious.
Elena's eyes narrowed. "What do you know about the standing stones?"
"Start talking both of you." Marcel said getting frustrated. He was the King of the quarter. He didn't wait on peoples explanations. "Vincent tell the class what you know about these stones."
Vincent leaned back in his chair clearly annoyed that he had to take orders from a vampire. Vampires always had to be butting into witch business.
"Guess I'll start where I left off at Elena's gasping." He side eyed Marcel. "The stories have always been told about the standing stone circles around the world. All placed on sacred hot spots. They're said to be the exact spots where angels landed on the earth plane. Channeled by ancestor after ancestor from now to the beginning of time. My granny used to tell me bed time stories as they were told to her and so on and so on." He said telling the story to Elena directly. "These spots are said to be an open door to your destiny because of the magic left behind from the old beings who landed there. Not all can travel through though. The legend says that there are a handful of chosen ones. People fated to be drawn to these spots to fulfill a bigger purpose. A bigger purpose for their own journey. Their stories jump around and don't make sense until the very end, sometimes from century to century. My granny said her mama met one of these travelers. She had met her at the end of her life. She told her every detail from start to finish. She told wild stories of going through stones at different locations several times throughout her life and throughout different time periods. Always needing a gem stone to make her way through. I never thought the stories would be true though, they always felt like legend passed down from generation to generation." Elena felt her middle finger and looked down at her daylight ring. The gem was gone from the setting.
"My daylight ring… I'll need another if I ever want to walk in the sunlight again." She said sadly.
"We can take care of that for you." Vincent smiled slightly wanting her to know she could trust him. "My granny made it very clear if I was to ever meet one of these travelers" He nodded her way
"I'd best know to protect them. You never mess with the balance." He said more seriously looking directly at Marcel letting him know with just a look he would not let him harm her.
"Thank you-What was your name again?"
"Vincent Griffith- and that's Marcel Gerard."
"Thank you Vincent." She smiled warmly thanking her lucky stars she was sent at that exact moment to where he was. "You know…that doesn't explain why my friend thought so differently though…are the stories different for different covens?"
"So a witch sent you through?"
"Well not exactly."
"Guess it's your turn to share with the class- What's your name again?" Marcel smirked flirty at her.
"Elena Gilbert." She blushed at the intense stare she gave him.
