(A/N: Now we have made it to Chapter 3. Let's see how Dudley handles the news from his wife.)

That evening, when Dudley got home from work, he greeted his wife with a kiss and a hug, and asked, "So, what did the vet say?"

"The vet said I was perfectly healthy." Kitty said.

"Seriously? If you're healthy, then why are you sick every morning?" Dudley asked.

"Well, he has a pretty good idea as to what's causing that." Kitty replied.

"And that is..." Dudley pressed.

"You might wanna sit down first." Kitty said.

So they sat down on the couch together.

"Okay, why are you getting sick every morning?" Dudley asked.

"I might be pregnant." Kitty said.

Dudley wondered why he didn't think of that.

"I almost forgot that we tried for a baby. How long ago was that?" Dudley asked.

"I hadn't thought about that until the vet mentioned it, but we tried about two months ago." Kitty said.

"You said you'd wait that long before finding out." Dudley reminded her.

"I did, didn't I?" Kitty asked.

"Yep." Dudley said.

"Well, it'll be a few days before we find out, and I hope the results are good. That test cost over $90." Kitty said.

"It's that expensive?! You'd better be pregnant if you had to pay that much!" Dudley said.

"I know. But we can worry about that when the vet gives me the results." Kitty said.

"Or maybe we'd better ask our moms if they were sick like that when they were expecting." Dudley said.

"Okay." said Kitty.

So both of them called their moms and asked them if getting sick in the morning was something pregnant women go through.

"You mean you're pregnant, Kitty?" Mrs. Katswell asked Kitty, sounding pretty happy.

"I don't know, Mom. I got tested by the vet today, but it'll be a few days before I get the results. However, considering what you said, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you suffered from that when you were pregnant." Kitty said.

"Yes, I did. Morning sickness is one of the symptoms of pregnancy." Mrs. Katswell told her.

"That's what the vet told me. So it's possible." Kitty said.

Meanwhile, Dudley was finding out the same thing from his mom.

"So if that is the case, she'll be alright?" Dudley asked.

"Of course she'll be alright. I went through it when I was pregnant with Bruce, and you, and I was fine." Peg said.

"Right. Thanks, Mom." Dudley said.

When they hung up, they compared notes, and Kitty said, "It's possible that there is a baby on the way."

"I'm kinda hoping there is." Dudley said.

"And I hope it's not a false pregnancy." Kitty said.

"I don't like the sound of that." Dudley said.

"Neither do I." Kitty replied.

But the following Monday, Kitty returned to work, much to the happiness of the Chief, Katrina, and Bruce.

"Are you okay? Did the vet find out why you were sick?" Katrina asked.

Kitty almost told Katrina that she might possibly be pregnant, but she knew that both of them would be sorely disappointed if the results came back negative, so she said, "Maybe..."

"Is that a yes or a no?" Katrina pressed.

"Drop it." Kitty said.

Katrina really wanted to know, but it seemed that Kitty didn't wish to discuss it right now, so she did as her sister asked. But she'd find out later that week, though.

It was when Kitty was on her break with Katrina and Claire. The 3 of them were sitting in the break room, talking about nothing in particular when Kitty's cell phone rang. Kitty motioned for her sister and their friend to be quiet as she answered her cell phone.

It turns out the vet was the caller, and he had some very interesting news for Kitty.

"First of all, the last time you came for a check-up, you had only 1 life. This time, you have 9 lives again." the vet began.

"I do?" Kitty asked. She didn't know how it happened, but she was thrilled about it.

"And I have the results of your pregnancy test. You are... pregnant! Congratulations!" the vet said.

"I am? Are you serious?!" Kitty asked, getting really happy, much to the confusion of the two other women in the room.

"As serious as I can be, Kitty. You are pregnant." the vet said.

"Oh my gosh! Thank you! Thank you so much!" Kitty said.

"You're very welcome." said the vet. And after he and Kitty scheduled another appointment, Kitty ended the call and left the break room before either Katrina or Claire could ask her what happened.

"Let's follow her. I wanna know why my sister's so happy." Katrina whispered to Claire.

"Good idea. I want to know, too." Claire whispered back.

So the two girls quickly but quietly followed Kitty. They found her standing by Dudley, who looked happy to see his wife.

"Hi, Kitty." Dudley smiled.

"Hi... Dad." Kitty replied with a smile, putting emphasis on the word 'Dad'.

"What?!" Dudley asked. Did he hear that right? Did Kitty just call him 'Dad'?

"I said, hi... Dad." Kitty repeated, again with emphasis on the same word. She was still smiling.

Then Dudley got it.

"Really?" he asked, his eyes growing wide as he looked at his wife.

Kitty nodded, and the smile she wore got even bigger.

"THIS IS AWESOME!" Dudley yelled, jumping up out of his chair before picking up Kitty and swinging her around right there in the main office.

Everybody stopped and stared when they heard Dudley and saw what he was doing. Had he gone back to his immature ways?

"Dudley, people are staring..." Kitty whispered, feeling self-conscious.

"I don't care. I'm so happy right now..." Dudley said before setting Kitty down.

"Should we tell them?" Kitty asked.

"I'll do it right now!" Dudley said, before announcing, "Hey, everybody! Kitty's pregnant!"

Most everyone in the room applauded, but Katrina and Claire were squeeing over the news as they ran to Kitty and congratulated her.

Bruce was walking up to congratulate Dudley and Kitty when he saw Katrina and Claire endlessly congratulating Kitty.

"I take it you girls heard the news." he realized.

"Yes! I'm so happy for Dudley and Kitty! And... I'm gonna be an AUNT!" Katrina exclaimed in happiness.

"Yup! And it explains why Kitty wasn't feeling well." Bruce said.

"What?" Katrina asked.

"I remember Mom feeling sick in the mornings when she was pregnant with Dudley. I was only 3 at the time, but I can remember that." Bruce told her.

"It's odd, though. My mom said that she didn't have the usual pregnancy symptoms when she was pregnant with me. She had the baby bump, but she had no cravings, no morning sickness, and Dad said she had mood swings, but Mom's sure she didn't have those, either." Claire said.

That's when Kitty realized something. Sure, the vet said she was pregnant, but it was still possible that it could be a false pregnancy. They wouldn't know for certain until it was time for the ultrasound. Then they would know for sure. But in the meantime, Kitty hoped that her pregnancy was real.

But it's possible that Kitty really is pregnant. However, I'm not going to tell you if she is or isn't. You have to stay tuned if you want to find out!
