Chapter: Wizard's problem and Luz's first fly
The silence between them should have been uncomfortable. They were wizard and familiar - they have known each other a really long time, silent wasn't new thing. They spent much of their life in good atmosphere, not perfect but good, so silence of two good friends feeling very comfortable in a room together was normal thing.
This time, however, silence was some sort of punishment for Douxie.
"You can't stay angry with me forever." Douxie told his familiar who was watching some movie on the laptop.
Archie didn't reply at first, only turning to look at him with his expression entirely flat, not showing any reaction. "Wanna bet?"
"Archie." The teen retorted, a bit on the defensive.
"Don't "Archie" me now!" Archie's features were pulled into an annoyed expression. "You went to Morgan's library. Without consulting me! Took one of an S class magic volume. And you were trying to use incomplete dreamcatcher!"
Douxie sighed, for a second he seemed his actual age, the weight of all his years heavy on his face. "You're right, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be doing this. But that nightmares drove me a little crazy. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I remember nothing. I just... I feel fear. Anxiety. Isolation. And darkness."
Archie grimaced at the description. "You could have just told me that you still have nightmares."
There was a moment where nothing was said between them, and the only thing filling the ambiance of the room was the music from forgotten laptop on table.
Douxie rubbed at the back of his neck. He still couldn't bring himself to make eye contact with his friend. "I just felt like I deal with this myself."
"And?" The familiar asked, knowing this isn't all.
"And I wanted to learn more about it first, because I think Luz has something to do with this." Douxie let out after many moments.
The thought of Luz could have something to do with the probably magic nightmares obviously did not sit well with Archie because he openly frowned. "Why are you so obsessed with this girl?"
"Come on, don't you think that's just a little bit weird?" Douxie defended himself, "Suddenly we learn that Luz, a little eccentric but still normal human teen, is now part of the Order of the Keepers, and soon after I'm starting to get that weird nightmares."
"It's got nothing to do with nightmares." Archie assured.
Douxie opened his mouth, perhaps to throw out another argument, but the cat familiar's stumped him. His lips pursed as he seemed deep in thought, which evolved into a pout as he asked, "How do you know?"
Archie sighed as he looked at the dreamcatcher out the corner of his eye. It was in pieces. Half of them were covered with what looked like black tar. Douxie found it just like this, immediately after waking up. And it even not recorded the slightest part of teen wizard' dream.
"These black tar tell us that it was more than just dream. Someone walk into your dream mind and screwed with it. And this was a person with a knowledge of strong magic."
"But who and why?"
"Harder to answer." The cat-familiar stated cautiously, "But if I had to guess, I'd have to say they're trying to hide something from you."
"Well, then, let me repeat the question. Who and why?"
"I have no idea." He dared to take another quick glance at parts od dreamcatcher before averting his eyes to the teen wizard again. "Luz have nothing to do with this. I know that."
"Then, what..." Douxie paused, needing a moment to come up with more questions. "What we do next?"
"Anything to make you stop having any dreams."
Douxie blinked up at him, very confused. "A little extreme."
"Whoever's responsible the attack on your dreams, is very dangerous." Archie stood firm.
"They're focused only on destruction of dreams and what I see in them." Said Douxie seriously. "And what if this weird dream situation means someone was trying to give a message to me."
"There's a thin veneer, Douxie, between the dream and the reality." Archie insisted, "And the fact that you're wizard made it thinner. So we can't be sure that your next nightmare won't end with serious injury or worse. This is not worth it."
Silence reigned for a moment before Douxie spoke again. "If you so
worried about me then, we're good then."
Archie's expression didn't really change, but his ears straight up and calmly said, "I'm still angry. I'll just file gave you an earful away for later. Right now we just need to focus on find way to protect your mind."
"Dreamcatcher wasn't very helpful or useful to me." Douxie said, tapping his fingers against his thigh. A nervous tick.
Archie got up from his seat and approached the teen wizard, "We need something stronger than it. Fortunately, I know where we can find that kind of thing."
"Long trip?"
"Not with the shadow staff." Archie said as if it was not only obvious but also expected.
Jett and Luz sat on the fallen tree in a clearing in the woods, opposite of the Owl House. Waiting for mystery person who could help Luz with the flying problem. And because Jett's not going to say anything more about this person, Luz decides to spend the rest of the time teaching her friend some human card game.
"Do you have any sixes?"
"Go Fish." Luz said, "When your mystery pal arrives and do you have any threes?"
Jett slid the card over as he answered. "She will be here in about five minutes. Do you have any fives?"
"So, this is the girl."
"Or just use more than one pronoun."
"Why don't you just tell me who you called?" Luz half groaned, "Go Fish by the way."
Jett gave her a wicked smile, "More fun for me. But I can promise you she's the right person to ask for help in solving a problem of magic creature."
His ears twitched as he heard a faint flapping wings sound coming from the sky. And a few seconds later, a squawking. Wait a second… he recognized that noise.
The next moment there were something crunching through the trees, and a moderately-sized Griffin came zooming down from an unknown part of the forest and to the ground.
"Speak of the devil, there she is now."
Just as Jett'd walk up to greet his friend, who'd just arrived at the Owl House riding in on her pet gryffin, the gryffin got to him first. He was knocked back by the sheer strength of this creature. The griffin looked exceptionally excited to see him.
"Good to see ya, too. Puddles." Jett said, patting Puddles' head feathers.
"Come on girl, give him a space." The gryffin's rider said. "Be a good girl. And you'll get a snack."
In one hand, she had what looked like a small chunk of meat. Puddles grabbed the treats from her hands and sit down on ground. Waiting.
Jett and the girl came to one another. They locked eyes with each other for a moment. And then: the handshake. It consists of what feels like several seconds of bumping fists, tapping hands, and other hand movements.
Jett finishes the handshake with a smile, and then put his arms around the girl, and led her over to Luz.
"Viney, this is Luz, the human girl I was telling you and boys about. Luz, this is my good friend Viney, the best animal caretaker that I know."
Luz looked at the spiked girl in front of her. Viney was a bit older than her, and look like a cool and dangerous kind of person with thorns around her brown bun and a fish hook for an earring. Her green eyes with one lash on the top and one lash on the bottom, has a kind of wild spark in them.
"So, you are Jett's mystery friend." Luz slowly said before her face brightened, "I have so many questions! How long have you known Jett? How you meet? What it is to have your own griffin? How did you name it? What kind of magic can you do? What's-"
"Hold it, hold it!" Viney totally felt like Luz's emotions are overwhelming her. From her point of view, Luz act like a cerberus puppy wanting to play. "Too many questions at a time."
"Sorry. You're just first of Jett's friends that I meet the person. Nice to meet you, by the way." Luz said as she shook hands with Viney.
"Same to you." Viney smiled, "I've heard a great deal about you from Trickster."
"Trickster?" Luz turned her head to Jett.
"Nickname from school days." He casually stated.
"Like Trickster, graffiti artist who paints this?" Luz pulled out her phone to show Jett and Viney the imagery of graffiti.
"Yeah."
"Why didn't you tell me that you are Trickster?" She asked with a grimace.
"You didn't ask."
Luz didn't know how to respond. Jett had mentioned that he sprayed graffiti on some places, but she never seen any of his art. So, she wouldn't connect him with any graffiti made by Trickster. Yet she didn't have time to think more about this.
The Latina felt some breathing on her shoulder. Puddles, Viney's griffin, finished the meat, and was examining her. After a little investigation, the griffin began to happily cooed.
Kayda picked that exact moment to popped out of Luz's hood. Puddles jumped off, surprised. Then Viney squealed like a teenage girl at boy band concert.
"Is it a Dramillion, the Tracker class dragon?!"
Luz have no idea what Viney're saying, so just said "Her name is Kayda."
"Amazing." Viney pulled Kayda's muzzle gently, looking at her. Kayda puffed out some smoke from her snout. "I have never seen purebred Dramillion, this eyes are like gemstone. And her fangs are so small and so sharp."
The witchling keep talking about Kayda. And Puddles was clearly jealous of Viney's interest in the dragon. The gryffin just pushed between the teenagers. And suddenly Puddles' face was very, very close to her owner.
Viney smiled as she reached up and pet gryffin forehead. "You know you're my favorite girl."
It seems that Kayda took the opportunity to crawled on Luz's shoulder to sniff and then give Puddles a few licks on her beak.
Puddles seemed totally surprised but then nuzzled Kayda's head. Very soon two magic creature running to played together, leaving three teenagers alone.
They were looking at this for a moment before Viney break the silent.
"So, why do you need me here?"
Jett smirked, "We'll explain it in two minutes."
That took exactly 22 minutes.
"Kayda is the drake that hatched from the last dragon egg found in the Human Realm, and she think Luz's her mom. Also this dragon actually hatched in her hands. Without foud the perfect spot... Are you serious?" Viney asked her question straight to Jett and Luz, but isn't really looking for an answer. After all, she already knows they are.
"As a heart attack." Jett just said.
"Nothing like that has happened in the Boiling Isles before." Viney said with quiet disbelieve in her voice, looking at Kayda who was busy playing with Puddles.
"Told ya we'd blow your mind."
"And the big problem you mentioned..."
"I can't fly." Luz said today for the hundredth time. "I'm supposed to teach Kayda about using her wings, but I don't have wings."
Viney put her hand on her chin and began to think. "Have you tried with some method of teaching? Like picture it?"
"Yes." Luz showed her a something that had once been picture of flying dragon. Now look like confetti. "A sock puppet also had a sad ending. And Kayda just ignored me when Eda give me a illusion of dragon wings."
"And don't ask what happened when we showed Kayda a illusion of other dragon." Jett added.
Viney nodded sage-like, a hand stroking her chin. Before she turned to Luz. "Then you needs a wings. The flesh-and-blood. That smells like you, so Kayda will know that they're part of her 'mommy'."
"And knowledge of dragon flying methods." Luz added. "I don't really know much about it."
"That's why I called you." Jett smirk to Viney.
"Let me guess, you're thinking of use trick that we used to fulfill your fantasy of flight through a the Rambling Rocks Gorge."
"You know me well, don't you?"
Viney looked at him, then turned to Kayda and Luz, and back to her friend, "A bit crazy idea."
"That could work." Jett answered nonchalantly. "And it wouldn't hurt to try-"
"What are you talking about?" Luz interjected.
"Do you remember how I told you that I have broken my pop's speed record?" Jett just asked her.
"Yes." She confirmed, still just as puzzled as before.
"You see, Luz. That was before I made Howlitty, and I felt jealous of my dad's wings. So, my awesome friends decided to create an disposable wings for me."
"It's kind of complicated, but we may be able to modify this spell and give you dragon wings for a few hours." Viney finished.
"And I'll fly?" asked Luz excitedly.
"Like a birdie." Jett confirmed, like he was commenting on the weather. "Corect, like a dragon."
"Let's do it!"
"It's not that easy."Viney pointed out. "First we needs collect the necessary things. Like dragon bones of a proper size."
"I have already handled it." Jett turned his messenger bag upside down. Both Luz and Viney were surprised when the impressive amount of things fell out. Mostly the jars and package.
Viney picked up a long bone from the ground and take a good hard look at it. "How did you get all this?"
Jett smirk, "I know a guy. And, to answer your next question, no live animals were hurt."
After 25 minutes of selecting things, everything was ready. Viney added some Luz's hairs to pile of things. There were a bones, parts of muscle, membrane cut into large pieces, sprinkled with dragon scales.
"We're good to start." The witchling told Luz.
"I'm ready!"
"This may sting a little." Jett warned his friend, even while keeping his tone light, his staff coming into existence in his hand. "I mean a lot. It would be like letting yourself-"
"Just drink it and you won't feel anything." Viney interjected, putting glass vial in the hands of younger girl.
"What? That was an option?" Jett asked, looking at bottle in Luz's hand. "Why didn't you tell me all this when I get my temporary angel wings?"
Viney nudged his arm, "I did. And Barcus even giving you a palm reading to warn you how painful it will be for you. But you said, and I quote, 'Dont worry guys. Pain is a temporal construct of the mind. I can control my own brain.'."
"Oh yes, it turned out that I can't." Jett said to no one in particular. Then turned his head to Luz. "I highly recommend you to drink it."
Luz uncork the bottle and took hearty swig, visibly grimacing at the taste.
"It tastes like shoe leather to me." She look at the vial with disgust. "What was that?"
"Trust me - you don't want to know." Viney replied dead serious, "Now just stand there, shut your eyes and try not to think."
Luz did as she was asked.
Viney and Jett began to create the wings, she know that because the fizzling sound of two spell circles being drawn, and the dull thud of a staff hitting the ground.
It was quiet for a while, at least until Luz felt that something strange was happening. It was... Like a few big slugs scuttling up her body to sit on her back. Whatever it was, it didn't hurt, but she was startin' to get itchy.
Then Luz could hear the shift and crackle of bones and muscle realigning into pair of wings.
A loud ripping was heard as the back of her hoodie split nearly in two as her large, scaly wings emerged. Brown as her skin with darker colored spots all over them.
"I have wings! I HAVE WIN-" Luz straightened out her wings what made the teen lost her footing, and fell face-first into grass.
"Are you okay?" Viney offered her a hand, and helped her to her feet.
Luz make her wings move very slowly. "These wings are a lot heavier than I thought they would be."
"Don't worry - you'll get the hang of it." Viney replied and walked around Luz, examining every curve in her new limbs.
Luz nodded slightly, then turned her attention to Kayda, who had watched this scene with reserved curiosity.
"What do you think, Kayda?"
Kayda growled loudly and shot out a plume of smoke. The dragon sniffed the lower part of Luz's wing and snorted pleasingly. Glad she can smells the scent of scales and her "mommy".
"Everything seems to be fine." Viney finished check the wings, "We can start. Ready?"
Luz looked up into the sky for a moment while her wings deflated and shrunk to hunch down against her shoulders. Impossibly white and fluffy clouds drifted overhead, meandering through the clear blue sky in gentle puffs and eddies that beckoned the girl right now.
"Let's fly!" She answered loud.
Viney moved over beside her and lifted one of her wings with right hand.
"Flap it." She ordered gently. Luz did as she was told and beat the air with the one wing.
"Now what?" She asked. Viney padded over to Luz's other side and pulled out her other wing.
"Now do the next one." Luz obeyed again and flapped, sending a small dust cloud into the air. Viney stepped back and looked winged girl over.
"Now you need to flap both of them." She said, Jett fighting back a chuckle. Luz tried, but she couldn't manage to flap both wings in unison. One was always a slight bit faster than the other. Kayda copying everything Luz do.
"Even it out" Viney explained. "If you are off balance, you will fall like a stone."
"I'm trying." Luz said, still flapping away. After countless tries, she had succeeded.
"Step Two: Get off the ground." Viney drew a spell circle and conjured up a pair of white boots with bat wings on them, calmly puts on her other shoes. In the meantime, Jett made a big circle in the air and throw it at Viney, making a pair of dragon wings appeared on her back.
"I'll fly with you, my wings is an illusion. But, watch how I moving them. And try do the same things with your wings."
Viney suddenly leapt into the air and tucked in her feet. Before gravity could pull witchling down to ground, the bat wings boots come to life as she beat her false wings and began to lift upwards.
Luz jumped after Viney and beat her wings frantically, trying to gain the lift needed to climb, but gravity won the battle and sent the teen straight back down to ground.
"I did just as you said, but they did not work."
"Keep trying. We have all day to do this."
Luz crouched and leapt into the air again, beating both wings for dear life. Once again, she fell down. This time Kayda wasn't copying her action. The dragon just sitting and watching this.
The third attempt was fast. Luz beat her wings and began to lift upwards. Speed up the flapping. And before she could comprehend what was happening, her face was planted firmly into the ground like it was attempting a head-first journey to the center of the earth.
"Owwww…" she whined pitifully, "What am I doing wrong?"
"You are falling a lot." Jett replied jokingly, grabbing the back of Luz's hood and lifting her to her feet. Viney shook her head.
"You do not give your wings time to catch the air," she advised. "You need to flap them gently and slowly. If you move to quickly, you will not gain the lift you need to rise"
"Okay." Luz crouched for the second time before leaping into the air. In mid jump she spread out her wings and brought them down in unison, pushing her body upward.
"I did it!" She exclaimed joyously. Then lowered her left wing and raised her right one. This action threw Luz off balance and caused her to fell back down to the forest, crashing on a tree.
"Oh boy," Jett said, padding over to her. "How many fingers am I holding up?"
"I'm fine." Luz lifted up one of her wings and tucked it in quickly. "And... four."
Kayda whimper and jumped on Luz's shoulder, licking a small but deep cut on girl's cheeck.
"I'm okay. Don't worry."
Yeah, the growl a teen got back made her pretty sure Kayda was saying she disagreed.
"I will fix it." Viney promised as she got down to her knees in front of Luz.
However, when she reached out her hand towards the cut, Kayda almost bit her palm.
"I'm not going to hurt Luz. Trust me." Viney tried to calm Kayda as she scratched the dragon behind her horn.
The drake grumbled and narrowed her eyes distrustfully but did not attack the witchling when Viney used a spell circle to heal that cut on Luz's cheek.
After they back to the clearing, Luz do a series of exercises with the wings, standing on the ground.
"Okay, you have better control of them. So, let's try this again." Viney decided, grabbing Luz by the wrists and slowly dragging her up into air.
The wings on Luz's back fluttered right speed so she managed to get off the ground. Viney held on to her as she spun with a other girl.
"Looks like you're starting to get the hang of flying. Do you think you could stay airborne on your own?" She said after a few minutes.
Luz gave a small nod as response.
"Remember. Catch the air." Viney said as she let go of her hands.
Luz spun in circles in the air for a bit before figuring out how to fly straight. After one and half an hour, she flew pretty good for a beginner.
Kayda've been monitoring Luz very carefully for the last hour. All this time, the young dragon were even moving her wings. But stay on the ground.
Both girls noticed this and landed directly in front of Kayda and Jett.
"Now it's your turn to try." Luz started flapping and get off the ground, making sure her dragon saw every movement of her wings. "Just do what I do, okay?"
Kayda only hissed and flattened her body on the ground.
Luz shoots her a startled look. "Kayda?"
"Come on, fly. Like your mama." Jett comment, then the drake hissed again when he poke her side.
"What happened to you, girl?" Luz picked up her pet dragon. Kayda just tucked herself right under girl's chin.
Viney glanced at her, her eyes slowly darting back and forth between the human girl and the young dragon she held in her hands. "I think, I know. The first dragon fly... Well, it is a bit different than what we are doing here."
Luz and Jett looked perplexed. "That means?"
"Dragons like Kayda live in the mountains or the high hiding places. Their first fly is to jumpings into the abyss with their parents. The prime way of flying lesson is stored in dragon blood. And Kayda obviously feel like you both must do this in the right way."
"So I have to jump off a cliff?" Luz asked, stroking Kayda's neck.
Viney nodded, "Or a very high place."
"Got it." Jett said. He slammed his staff on the ground and a glowing orange circle lit up on the ground. "Hold on tight!"
Both Luz and Kayda shouted in surprise as the glowing platform took off from the ground, with them on it. It took the girl and her dragon to a height of the tenth floor. And just stopped.
Luz leaned over the edge, peering down. "Only one way down."
Kayda hissed at her, and Luz figured out the dragon's probably scared.
"It's okay." Luz dropped to one knee beside the blue-green drake. She gently stroked the favorite spot on dragon's back. "You does not need to worry, because we'll do it together. And I'd never let you down."
Kayda looked up at her and her dark pink eyes met her brown ones.
"So, what do you say?" Luz straightened out her wings. "Will we do it then?"
The drake snaked her head around her body to look at her wings. And then Kayda shuddered, shaking her blue-green scales violently.
"I'll wait until you are ready."
The dragon got up on her hind legs and straightened her neck all the way to head bump Luz.
And then Kayda and Luz jumped.
Time slowed to a crawl as they locked eyes with each other while both of them were falling. In mid way down they spread out their wings and brought them down in unison, pushing their bodies upward.
The drake climbed upward, purring joyously before climbed up into the sun. The dragonlooked around at her surroundings which were in the colors of blue and white clouds.
Then Kayda returned to Luz, flew around her three times, and fly upward in a spiral toward the blue sky while roaring with glee.
As two older teens stood still and stared at Luz and Kayda above them, Michael watch what happens outside out the window.
"The human teen teaching art of flying to little dragon." the angel commented with small smile, "Now I've seen everything."
One of Eda's ears twitched a bit before she turned to window. "What are the chances that dragon fly away and never come back?"
"You know you love Kayda."
"Almost as much as I love Covens." She said before finishing her cup of Apple Blood. Then she want to pouring more apple blood into a cup. But Michael snatche the cup out of her hands.
"Speaking of Covens, I've arranged a session for you tomorrow afternoon with our consulting healer, Adamai."
"And you just fell by two positions in the love ranking." Eda said drily.
"You know you've got the routine checkup, hun." He kissed her lips, stopping her retort; she had one, he knew it. "Just a short visit. Nothing scary."
"I don't need to see Adamai. I'm good." The witch said firmly, folding her arms.
"I woud like hear it also from specialist." Michael pressed, wings rising slightly.
"Fine. I will go." Eda said, knowing she can't win this. "Now, give me my Apple Blood."
A gentle smile plays across the man's face, "If you want it, come and get it."
Eda met his eyes and smiled; dangerous kind of smile. "You know how dangerous it is to be beetwen witch and her drink?"
"I like a little danger in my life. In fact, that's one of the reasons I married you." Michael sipped a Apple Blood then drew her close and kissed her deeply.
Archie jump out of a portal gracefully. That portal just closed by itself after him. Leaving the cat familiar alone in one of many new orlean streets.
His gaze was focused on the opposite side of street.
The building was a nondescript two story structure, and looked like it was built in the 1930's and it was obvious that it was recently remodeled as its façade was immaculate. The second floor was clearly an apartment while the lower level was a storefront. A small painted sign above the shop's entrance identified the establishment: "Quartz Treasure – Antiques and Collectibles."
This place belong to Ilana Abrams. A long time ago, Abrams Family were a very old, very powerful family of sorceresses.
Her family no longer had the magic power. But Ilana got her PhD and started her own antiques store. Where you can find collection of strange, unusual and even dark artifacts.
Archie turned into human before entered the shop through its rear entrance, and a chime announced his arrival with an otherworldly tinkle.
A nice female voice called out in a hurried: "I'll be right there!" that resonated throughout the small store.
Less than one minute later, woman emerged from behind a curtain that separated the store front from the storage room. She froze as she stared, mesmerized, at her unexpected visitor.
"Mr. Feles, a pleasure to see you again."
"The feeling is mutual, Miss Abrams."
"What I can do for you?"
"I'd like to buy a some object that you showed me a long time ago."
Luz had never felt so utterly terrified in her entire life, nor so alive. The wind was rushing beneath wings with fearsome speed and indescribable joy, whipping against her face and blowing through her hair. Not even the great distance to the ground beneath her could stop her now, nor make her want to return to ground to place her feet on the solid earth. Flying was freedom. This was living. This was the most wonderful thing she could have ever imagined.
And some time ago Jett and Viney also join her and Kayda in "sky fun".
They all were in middle of race when the dragon suddenly rolled over to the right and flipped upside down above Luz.
"Don't think this will help you win!" Jett said while he flew beside her.
Kayda roared loudly and shot out a plume of smoke before the rush of the wind as Viney who flying on her gryffin just overtook them.
Jett smirk. "I think we need to speed up."
Howlitty cooing happily as palisman stretched its wings to their full capacity. Luz beat the air with the wings but something was wrong.
The teen turned head to see a many little cracks creep across membrane of her wings.
She looked scared as the realization dawned on her. "What's going on?"
"In five minutes your wings will be in fragments." Jett remarked offhandedly, speaking loudly to be heard over the wind.
"What?!"
"Time's up, you need to land." Viney replied from her place on Puddles' back.
When they touched down in the ground not a minute later, Luz's wings just fell off like a lizard's tail. And then turned into dust.
"I wish it didn't have to end." Luz sighed, staggering a bit as she attempted to get her balance. Without wings she feels a very light.
Kayda wandered curiously over to jumped on Luz's shoulder, her ears perked, and sniffed Luz's back speculatively.
"Roar?"
"Yeah. I'm get my flightless club card back."
The dragon gave her a quiet, yet a soothing roar in return.
"On the brighter side, you've learned how to fly."
Luz placed her left hand on her blue-green muzzle as she looked at sky. She can't believe it's already been 10 hours. But the sun was beginning to set and night creature would soon be awakened.
"Hey guys, I know that I just end this flying thing. But can we do this again sometime?"
"Sure. It was fun." Viney replied.
"But not too soon." Jett stated, furrowing his brow. "My 'dragon parts' guy comes here once in a eight weeks."
"And who is this guy?"
"Why do you ask?"
Before Viney could reply her scroll chirped, announcing the arrival of a new text message, which she read with a typical 'It's almost curfew' teenager look on her face.
"It's time for me to go." She told them as jumped back on Puddles' back, "I don't want to be grounded a day before Moonlight conjuring."
"Thanks again for your help." Luz said.
"Anytime, Luz. Jett's friends are my friends." Viney said with smile before turned head to Jett. "I'll see you at Moonlight conjuring's tomorrow?"
Jett grinned, his fangs poking out of his mouth. "I wouldn't miss this for anything. And by the way, I promised I'd give Jerbo and Quitela a ride. So you don't have to worry about this."
"See you tomorrow, then. Bye!"
With those words, Viney waved goodbay to all of them and flew away on her gryffin.
"What exactly is Moonlight conjuring?" Luz asked when Puddles went behind a forest line.
Jett grinned again. "It's a slumber party where you use at least 3 people to bring an inament object to life under the full moon. Can only be done once a year."
"Witches sleepover with the elements of Frankenstein experiment. This sound cool." Luz said with a new idea in her head. "I could set up for it with Willow and Gus in the Owl House."
"First you have to convince my mom. Impossible task." Jett remarked in a deadpan tone.
A look of determination appeared on her face. "I convinced her to let me keep Kayda, I can convince her to throw moonlight conjuring!"
"I admire your misplaced confidence, Sunbeam."
A/N: Sorry for me taking forever to update. But I'm busy with life things that gave me no time to write. Yet I will continue with this story - I promise. I will try to post the next chapter as soon as I can!
