(A/N: And here we are at Chapter 8! We're moving right along, and I'm going to get this chapter going!)
It was a fine summer afternoon in the city of Petropolis. The weather's fine and everyone seems to be in a good mood. However, I'm not concerned about the people in the city, except for two people. The only people we should be focusing on right now are Dudley and Kitty. Let's go find 'em!
We ended up at the hospital to find Dudley entering the room that Kitty is in. She's sitting up in bed, holding 3 little bundles in her arms.
"Are those...?" Dudley asked, hardly daring to believe that he was finally a father.
"I... I don't really know, Dudley. They look kind of... well... I don't know how to say it, but... I think they gave us the wrong babies or something..." Kitty said, sounding nervous. She even looked pretty nervous, too.
"May I see them?" Dudley asked.
"Are you sure you want to?" Kitty asked.
"I don't think it would hurt anything." Dudley replied.
"Okay, then." Kitty said, and she reluctantly showed him the babies.
Dudley immediately wished he hadn't asked to see their babies, for the babies all looked like Jerkbait!
"AAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Dudley screamed.
Kitty awoke with a start to hear Dudley screaming in his sleep! She'd never heard him do anything like that before, and it worried her.
"Dudley!" Kitty yelled, giving his shoulder a firm shake. That woke him up and stopped him from screaming. It took him a minute to realize that he was not in the hospital, but in his bed at home, and Kitty was sitting up next to him, and he could see worry in her eyes, which were glowing in the dark.
"Kitty! Where are our babies?" Dudley asked.
"They haven't been born yet. We still have a month or two to go before I give birth to them." Kitty reminded him.
"It's still spring?" Dudley asked.
"Yes, it's mid-spring, but we're getting there." Kitty told him.
"Okay. I just had the most horrible nightmare about the kids." Dudley said.
"What happened? I know you probably don't wanna talk about it, but I'm here for you." Kitty told him. She wasn't sure if he'd tell her about it, or if she wanted to know.
"I dreamed that they were born, but they all looked like... You-Know-Who." Dudley said, whispering the last part.
"Please don't say that they looked like Snaptrap or the Chameleon." Kitty pleaded.
"It wasn't either of them." Dudley replied.
"Thank goodness." Kitty sighed in relief.
"It was worse." Dudley said.
Who could be worse than Snaptrap and the Chameleon? Kitty asked herself, but she knew that it had to be pretty bad to have her husband screaming.
"Did they look like Jack?" Kitty asked. Jack Rabbit had been her partner when she first started working at T.U.F.F., and she had been smitten with him long before Eric and Dudley came into her life.
"No. If they looked like him, I would've been able to handle that a little easier." said Dudley.
"Eric?" Kitty guessed, remembering the dream she had where Dudley had died from a broken heart because she married Eric.
"No." Dudley said.
"Dr. Rabies?" Kitty guessed, knowing that the guy was her husband's doppelganger.
"No, the kids wouldn't have looked that bad if they looked like him. They would've looked a bit like me, and in my dream, the kids looked nothing like me." Dudley said.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot that Dr. Rabies looks like you. But I give up. Who did they look like?" Kitty asked, wondering who else the kids could've looked like.
"They looked like... Jerkbait." Dudley said, frowning as he remembered.
"Oh no! Don't think for one minute that I would sleep with him, 'cause the night I do that is a freezing night in Heck! And you know that I'm as loyal to you as you are to me." Kitty said.
"I know, but I can't help what I dream." Dudley said.
"I'm not blaming you, Dudley. This is pretty much something all expectant parents go through when they've got a baby on the way." Kitty said, giving Dudley a hug, which he happily returned.
"I hope our kids won't turn out like him." Dudley said a few minutes later, when he and Kitty ended their hug.
"You're not the only one worrying about how the kids are going to turn out, Dudley." Kitty said.
"You're worried that they'll turn out like him, too?" Dudley asked.
"No. I'm worried that they'll be as bad as the little chipmunk girl. Remember her?" Kitty asked.
"I wish I didn't. She was annoying and always causing trouble for us. The worst part is that she hated you more than anything. Thankfully, she's where she belongs now, in Juvenile Hall. Maybe some time over there will straighten her out." Dudley said.
"I just hope our kids don't hate us like she did. Well, okay, they won't hate you, because even though you have matured, you're still a big kid on the inside, and I know our kids will appreciate that." Kitty said.
"I don't think they could hate you, Kitty. You've learned how to have some fun. But I know that I don't want our kids to end up like the little chipmunk brat or Jerkbait, ending up in Juvenile Hall, or worse, in jail." Dudley said.
"Maybe they won't, given that we're both secret agents and catch bad guys every day. That should help them learn good and bad and right from wrong." Kitty said.
"You have a point. It'll also help if the Chief allows 'Bring Your Child to Work Day' at T.U.F.F. Then the kids will have a good idea of what will happen to them if they cause trouble." Dudley said.
"So that's one less thing to worry about." Kitty said, smiling now.
"Yeah. I still can't wait for the kids." Dudley said.
"Now that you know that they're not gonna look like someone we hate." Kitty said.
"And that they're not gonna hate us or act like bad guys." Dudley said.
Dudley and Kitty gave each other a kiss, then Dudley held Kitty close as they went back to sleep.
Well, Dudley and Kitty help each other over their worries in one night! That's pretty good! But we're still not done yet. Nope, we've still got a ways to go before we can call this story done. In the meantime, stay tuned!
