(A/N: Okay, so we've made it to Chapter 13! The story hasn't had this many chapters before! Now let's see how this goes!)

It was a fine fall morning in the city of Petropolis. The weather was cool, the leaves changed colors, and all the school-age kids were back in school. But on a day like this, I feel like checking up on Keswick and Claire. Let's go see them!

At Keswick and Claire's house, we find the couple at their dining room table, having breakfast.

"So, you know where we have to go after we finish breakfast, right?" Claire asked.

"I know. To the v-v-vet's office for the ultrasound." Keswick replied. He didn't sound very happy about it, though.

"Are you okay? You seem kind of moody today, and I thought you'd be happy about seeing our baby. We might even learn if we're having a son or daughter." Claire said.

"Sorry. Just n-n-nerves." Keswick said.

Claire didn't believe him, but she said, "Okay. I'll buy that as a suitable explanation."

After breakfast, they quickly washed the dishes, then got in the car and made their way to the doctor's office so they could have the ultrasound done.

Keswick had been dreading this day so much. The reason is because he knew what baby Keswicks looked like, and he didn't know if he could handle seeing that on the ultrasound. But that was when Keswick noticed something about Claire. She had a baby bump. He didn't think his mom had one when she was expecting him. And he wasn't sure if she had one when she was expecting his sister, because his sister was older than him. Why did Claire have a baby bump? Curious, he now started to look forward to the ultrasound so he could get this mystery solved.

When they were having the ultrasound done, the vet said, "Well, would you look at that?! You're expecting twins!"

"Twins! I was always hoping to have more than one child!" Claire exclaimed, sounding really happy.

"Twins?!" Keswick asked. He looked like he was gonna pass out. But the touch of Claire's hand on his kept him conscious. It was a good thing, too, for he noticed something about the babies that surprised him. The babies did not look like baby Keswicks. For some reason, they looked a bit like he and Claire did now.

"That's odd." Keswick said to himself, but Claire heard him.

"What was that?" Claire asked.

"Our babies. They don't l-l-look like baby Keswicks like I thought they w-w-would." Keswick replied.

"What do baby Keswicks look like?" Claire asked.

Keswick showed Claire a picture of himself as a baby. He looked like a mudskipper with heat-sensing feelers on his back. Claire remembered hearing that Keswicks go through a series of metamorphoses as they age, but she never would've guessed that that's how he looked as a baby.

"Odd. That's not what I looked like when I was a baby." Claire said.

"What did you l-l-look like?" Keswick asked.

"Like our babies." Claire replied.

"Maybe we should ask your p-p-parents why this is s-s-so." Keswick said.

"Okay. We should probably stop by their place after work." Claire suggested.

So after the ultrasound, the couple started making their way to work, and Claire called her parents to let them know she and Keswick would be stopping by after work.

"Will you be staying for dinner?" Claire's mom asked.

"I'll check. Keswick, Mom wants to know if we're going to stay for dinner." Claire said to her husband.

"I don't see why n-n-not." Keswick said.

"Sure!" Claire said to her mom.

By then, the couple arrived at T.U.F.F., and they let everyone know that Claire was expecting twins. Everyone was happy for them, even Kitty, who was back at work because her maternity leave was over.

Later, when it was time for everyone to go home, Keswick and Claire made their way to the mansion where Claire's parents lived. When they got there, they noticed that Keswick's parents were also there.

"You invited my p-p-parents?" Keswick said.

"I thought they might wanna see you guys, since you're expecting a baby." Claire's dad said.

"Funny you should mention my pregnancy, Daddy. I had the ultrasound done today." Claire said as she and Keswick sat down.

"How did that go?" Claire's mom asked.

"The babies are f-f-fine and healthy." Keswick replied.

"Wait a minute! What do you mean 'babies'?" Keswick's mom asked.

"You mean there's more than one on the way?" Keswick's father asked, surprised.

"I'm carrying twins!" Claire exclaimed.

"YAAAAAAY!" the grandparents-to-be cheered, delighted that there were twins on the way.

"Hold it! Are they boys, girls, or one of each?" asked Keswick's mom.

"It didn't sh-sh-show. We'll have to wait until the kids are b-b-born." Keswick replied. Then he remembered something else and said, "And please, don't try to talk either one of them into b-b-being a doctor."

"We won't. Right, honey?" Keswick's father asked his wife.

"Right..." Keswick's mom agreed, somewhat reluctantly.

"We did, however, discover something odd." Claire said.

"And that is...?" Claire's mom asked.

"Keswick says that the babies don't look like he did as a baby." Claire said.

"What did he look like?" Claire's dad asked.

"This is what he looked like." Keswick's dad said, handing Claire's parents a picture of Keswick as a baby.

"All babies born on Keswickia l-l-look like that." Keswick explained.

"I didn't. And there's got to be a reason why I didn't look like that." Claire said.

"I know why, and it's not just because you weren't born on Keswickia." Claire's dad said to his daughter.

"Why?" asked Keswick. And everyone else was eager to know, except for Claire's mom, 'cause she already knew.

"Well, although we look like Keswicks, there are some Keswicks missing the metamorphosis gene. No one in my family, or my wife's family, has it. Claire doesn't have it, either, and it seems the kids are taking after her." Claire's dad explained.

"That's good. I'd rather have the kids take after her than m-m-me." Keswick said.

"Keswick, even if our babies did take after you, I'd still love them. After all, I'm pretty sure that even though they're taking after my side of the family, they still have some of you in them." Claire reminded him.

"Like what?" Keswick asked.

"Your cuteness." Claire smiled.

Keswick's face flushed, and he said, "I guess I c-c-can't argue with that."

And he and Claire shared a loving kiss.

But the kids aren't going to be born for a while yet. After this chapter, it's time to worry about Bruce and Katrina. Their baby should be arriving in the next chapter, so stay tuned if you wish to read about that!
