A/N: lol remember when I said this story would be ten chapters. LOL.
Toph's eyelids fluttered as she was drawn from sleep, the feeling of her hair being messed with had woken her.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." Aang tucked her hair behind her ear.
She hummed in acknowledgment at him and closed her eyes again. She was still tired and intended to go right back to sleep.
The light feeling of his lips against hers made her feel a little more awake though.
His lips trailed over her cheeks, to her nose and finally her forehead. His kisses were gentle and so soft she almost didn't feel them.
Toph groaned and buried her face in his neck, winding her arms around his waist. "Stop moving. Wanna sleep."
Aang chuckled against her hair. "Yes ma'am."
The next time she woke, it was due to the feeling of warm sun rays on her face. She grumbled and stretched out, the bed long since empty of Aang's presence. She must have slept in very late after he had initially woken her up with his affectionate touches.
Her sweet husband… her heart swelled with affection for him.
She idly wondered if she had any time to work on Aang's gift or if he would be back in soon.
There was a balcony in their bedroom that went right out to the back of the inn, where he always sat for his morning meditation. She got up and quietly opened the door, stepping out onto stairs. Toph put down one foot on the earth. She could sense Aang sitting quietly by the creek, unmoving.
She quickly went back inside. Maybe she had time to carve out the ring... Just in case, she pulled her suitcase into the bathroom and shut the door. If he asked she could pretend she was packing.
The earth bender sat on the wooden floor and pulled out the large jade rock. She just needed a small portion for the ring. With quick, precise movements, she had a vague ring shape. She fit it around her thumb, it was a little big but she knew it would fit his finger well. She had held his hand often enough to know the size of his fingers.
She ran the rock through her fingers, pushing away the extra material to get a smooth shape. There was not one crack or chip in the perfectly polished ring. She was happy with it- it had to be perfect craftsmanship for Aang. She just knew he would wear it constantly and show it off to people.
Toph quickly hid the ring in a small bag and threw the rock shavings at the bottom of her suitcase. She opened the bathroom door and ran out to see Aang was still beside the creek. Perfect, he would be none the wiser.
She was pleased to have made progress on the gift- even if it was the easiest part. Making the jade beads would be a little more difficult..
Once she was in some loose robes she went out the balcony and joined Aang outside. She piled her hair up into a bun- it was time for bending.
She didn't disturb her meditating husband, instead wandering past the creek to be a little further away from him. She started her bending warm up routine.
Toph got lost in the movement, in the feeling of the earth bending to her will. She was in her zone.
That is until the earth suddenly stopped listening to her.
She snapped her eyes open in surprise before they narrowed in annoyance. A small rock was held in limbo as Aang bent it the opposite way of her movement. She smirked and let it go, the rock crashing into Aang's stomach as he flew backwards.
"I should have seen that coming…" He groaned.
"Yeah, you should have." She smiled down at where he laid.
She wasn't prepared for Aang's quick movement- the gust of wind was so strong she fell on her butt.
"Do you want to fight, Fancy Dancer?" She challenged.
He jumped up. "I thought you'd never ask, babe."
Toph growled and rolled to her feet, quickly bending two rock boulders towards him.
Aang bent them to the side and ran straight at her. Toph bent a wall in front of her, Aang fluidly jumped up and used it as a springboard to flip over Toph's head. Toph expected this and bent a sharp rock up exactly where he would land.
But Aang barely landed on the pointy top and flipped off again. He sent a wave of wind towards her, pushing her back onto the wall she created. She growled in annoyance and chipped off pieces of it to send towards him.
He landed on the ground, having to continue flipping and spinning as Toph kept trying to catch him. "Stay still you little acrobat!"
Aang would only laugh, occasionally sending a wave of air or water towards her to slow her down. Never fire though, he didn't want to burn her.
Toph had to admit that when he used his other elements, she really was no match for him. She wasn't gonna tell him that though.
It was really annoying when Aang started to predict her movements, using the seismic sense she had taught him.
"I regret teaching you my tricks." She grumbled at him as he foiled her yet again.
She was also getting better at avoiding his other elemental attacks though, by sensing the way he moved his body and struck, she knew if it would be earth, air, or water and when to block it with a wall of earth.
Aang noticed and commented, "Looks like you're learning some new tricks though."
"I guess practice makes perfect." Toph smirked at him flirtatiously.
The next rock she sent flying towards him hit its mark.
Toph shrieked in concern and bent the large boulder off of her husband's body as she ran towards him. "Aang?!"
She'd never actually hit him with a full force attack before!
Aang groaned as she knelt down next to him. "That hurt, T."
"Well why'd you let it hit you, you idiot?!" She frantically patted her hands along him, not really sure how to know if he was seriously injured or not. His vitals seemed fine but what if he had a broken bone poking out?
"You know…" He whispered painfully. Toph leaned down to hear him better. "I think…"
"What, Aang? Are you hurt? Do I need to get help?"
"No I think… a kiss will make me feel better."
Toph groaned as she released the anxious breath she had been holding. She rested her head on his chest as he giggled at her. What a prankster.
Aang groaned as he sat up on his elbows before he gave up and laid back down. He did feel a little dazed and bruised. "You are so strong. And amazing. Please never hit me with a boulder again."
Toph laughed shakily, "Trust me, I won't."
It had been far too scary to think she had actually hurt him. Well, she needed to apologize...
Toph placed one hand on his cheek and leaned down to brush her lips against his.
He responded immediately, humming as their lips slotted together. He smiled against her lips, and she pulled away just enough so he could say, "I was right. This is making me feel better."
Toph laughed against his lips, kissing him again. She kept her hand pressed over his heart. His arm wound around her waist to pull her closer. And then it slid down…
She giggled as he cupped her ass and squeezed. She pulled away and raised an eyebrow. "That's not a kiss, Twinkles."
"But it's making me feel better!" He grinned at her.
"Oh I'm sure." She snorted. (She didn't push his arm off of her though.)
In fact, she leaned down and pressed her lips more firmly against his mouth. She boldly threw her leg over his hips to get closer to him.
His hands gripped her butt harder as her tongue slipped into his mouth. She pressed her chest into his and felt him wince, yelping slightly against her lips.
Toph pulled away and frowned at him. He sheepishly rubbed at his ribs. "I am… hurting."
She giggled and shook her head. She needed to let him rest. "I guess I'm gonna have to start going easy on you Twinkletoes."
Toph used flirtatious attack! It's super effective!
