Joint JSDF, U.S Japan training grounds

3 miles south of Takami Lake

May 11th, 2003

I quickly ran up the hill. I was pretty sure I'd been running for almost 2 hours. I was lucky this wasn't a desert or I would've died from heat stroke by now. With a still unconscious Sora in my arms.

Then I saw the joint JSDF and U.S Japan Training Grounds. I made sure to hide behind some large shrubbery hoping that I would not be shot by the panicked security team because of the current events. I was pretty sure they would rather shoot a child than take risk of the enemy detonating a nuclear bomb. I then put Sora back against a tree to help hide and protect her.

The gunfire had already died down by this time, most likely our forces were annihilated by this point.

I then noticed Sora waking up, she then asked "Where are we?"

"We're near the good guys' base. The people I work for." I answered her question, she then tried to get up but I told her to get down.

"Stay down I don't know if they'll mistake me for the enemy, currently they're probably panicked and may end up misidentifying us to where they'll might hurt us." I whispered quietly, all Sora did was nod. "I'm going to get close to the gate, let's hope they don't fire." I was about to leave the shrubbery, but Sora stopped me.

"Let me go with you, I'm scared!" She asked with tearful eyes.

I didn't want to get a child killed, but there's a chance they may hesitate and think twice about pulling the trigger but considering they might consider the possibility of the enemy being capable of detonating a nuclear bombs . But there's also the fact that if I die she may never be found. I sighed.

"Alight fine, hold up your hands like this." I showed her what to do, both of my hands were in the air and she copied them. "Just that nothing funny. Alright?" I said.

"Yes," was her response.

We then started to move slowly, with our hands in the air walking in a straight line hoping the machine guns that are trained on the spot lights won't fire at us.

After walking for another 25 meters, we were in the distance where the spotlights were scanning the area, then one covered our field of view "Stop!" Someone yelled over the intercom, so we stopped, hands still raised. Multiple armed men came out, then they noticed I was a

member of JSDF.

I was later dragged to the Colonels office.

The soldiers then brought us two into the military base.

"What's your rank as a soldier?" The Colonel asked.

I was on the floor drinking water. "I am First Lt Takanashi Youji, commander of the second tank battalion." I responded.

"The second battalion we haven't heard from you in hours! Where's the rest of your men?" Asked the Colonel.

I paused at the question but responded, the memory was very recent but I was already suffering from PTSD then my eyes started to cry. 'The men I spent years training with, laughing, drinking with were completely killed within hours.'

"We… we were massacred sir I am the only surviving member of the second battalion." I responded.

The colonel's face paled at the response, then a runner came by.

"Colonel!" Said the aide over his panting.

"What is it soldier?" He asked.

"We've lost contact with the third tank battalion, and the 30th infantry battalion!" The aide reported.

"The third tank battalion and the 30th infantry battalion were massacred?!"" The colonel asked.

"Yes, there is only one survivor in the entire 30th infantry battalion. Not only that, we've already lost around a quarter of our forces!"

"We've Lost a quarter of our forces, and just one survivor? What is going on here!" Wondered the colonel.

"A massacre." I said.

"Where are the Americans we were training with right now?" The colonel asked.

"Sir we've lost contact with their forces just a few minutes ago."

That was all the colonel needed, it was clear that they were dead. Slaughtered like pigs in a slaughterhouse.

"Order our self propelled artillery to suppress the enemy for now, we need to regroup and fast!" The colonel ordered.

"Yes sir." The aide said, running out back to his post.

"As for you, tell me what the enemy looks like?" He asked, I then went through explaining what the enemy I fought looked like and what happened.

"I see when all of our forces regroup and the Americans arrive we will begin discussing our plan of action." The colonel said.

"Yes sir."

"Yeah! This was easy like the brass said." Beamed a person over the radio. He wore a red uniform similar to that of a red coat from the British empire before the late 19th century, he had red hair with green eyes, he was one of the elite mages a part of the Elven Empire.

Elite mages are the most powerful mages the world has ever seen, they are capable of manipulating gravity to a certain extent when given the right equipment.

"I expected more of a resistance from the barbarians. But it seems like the brass is correct for once." Said another person, this one had Black hair, with Hazel eyes, he too wore a red uniform.

"Hey, what do you think women look like in this world? Considering all the men are warriors who didn't falter at our golems they must be brave and beautiful!" Said another, he also wore the red uniform, he had brown hair, with blue eyes.

Then one of the men reported something "I see something on my madar. I hadn't detected a single mana powered vehicle or mage when we arrived. So what's with the mages now?" Asked the one with red hair.

"Let me check." When the blonde hair elf turned on his Madar his systems immediately began to malfunction

"What the?!" He said in confusion.

"What?" Asked one of the other elves.

"My equipment is malfunctioning! Wait…" the blonde said, he realized something was off.

"Remember when we were having problems getting our golems activated to where we had to use our mana reserves?" He asked.

"Yea," responded one of them.

"Well what if all the mana of this world was concentrated in certain people, what if this was the prophecy from the Bible that god will send his emissaries to punish the eleven empire!" The blonde said.

"Yeah I remember that but it's nothing more than a children's story that is used to get kids to bed and make sure they don't misbehave." said the red head.

"Yes, do you know the flag the forces flew when you were fighting yours?" The blonde asked.

"Um… I believe it was the sun."

"I had one with red and white stripes with stars at one of the corners." Said the black hair.

Then their manacoms were intercepted.

"I would like to ask what you elves are doing in this world?" Asked a female voice.

"Impossible no one can intercept our manacoms!" One of them said, but the girl still responded.

"I am an ancient one tasked with keeping the balance of power balanced between worlds. In actuality I am here to make sure no power interferes with this world! Honestly I'm surprised modifying this radio even worked." The ancient one said.

"These people are magicless barbarians! Why are you protecting them?" One of the Elves said, the ancient one then performed a spell.

"What are you going to do? Kill us! You know full well you can't beat Elven Magic! Add on Dwayne metallurgy and we're unstoppable!" One of the elves cockily said.

"Oh really what would happen if I took your most powerful, and vulnerable power?" The Ancient one said.

"Really? Even then nobody can beat Dwarven metallurgy. Not even the Atlantians!" One of the elves cockily said, then the Elven gravity manipulator started to malfunction.

"You greatly overestimate your powers and abilities." The ancient one said.

"Now you're really getting on my nerves!" The elf that had said that quickly ran towards the ancient one and tried to smash her with his hand. But what he ended up smashing was the ground.

"It went through her!" He yelled over the radio.

"Have a fun time with the Japanese and Americans. Who you've greatly pissed off!" She then disappeared in a magic circle.

"What does she mean they're pissed off. They're barbarians even if they're pissed off they can't beat us."

"No, don't go, I don't want to be alone!" Sora begged, hugging my leg. It was clear Sora quickly became attached to me but I sadly couldn't do that.

"Sorry it's just that I don't want more people to get hurt. I'll be back, I promise." I said.

"Pinky promise?" She asked, holding out her pinky, and I took it.

"Pinky promise." I responded, then a private came up to me.

"It's time to go Lieutenant." The private said.

"Right. You'll keep her safe?" I asked the medic.

"Even if it's not in the job description I will gladly protect any child." The medic responded.

"Good." I responded, then turned around and entered the Humvee.

The plan was to use armoured vehicles to quickly maneuver and take out enemy infantry, while snipers with anti-material rifles moved through the mountains to get into optimal positions to take out the enemies biggests threat.

The intercom went off "Attention all personnel. Artillery and aerial bombardment is about to commence." Announcer warned. Then the sound of artillery started to rattle the air.

Meanwhile 9000 meters above the ground a squadron of F-15Js carrying 10000 Kilograms of bombs per plane, quickly flew over the battlefield of Takami Lake.

"This is Phoenix 01, Phoenix Squadron over the targeted area. Commencing bombardment." Reported Phoenix 1, over 240000 Kilograms of bombs were dropped over Takami Lake, taking out hundreds of Elven infantry in the process.

After the bombs exploded the 7th division proceeded with their counter attack.

"Enemy counter attack, the enemy are sending out their cavalry!" Reported one of the army commanders over the manacoms "use anti-cavalry magic!" The elven commander ordered over the manacom.

A large line of fireballs filled my vision, luckily we had sunglasses on us in case the enemy used heavy spotlights. "Fire!" I ordered over the radio.

As soon as I said the gunners began firing their 50 cal. Machine guns, going through the balls of fire, becoming heated in the process. The Humvees attempted to dodge the wall of flames most were successful at dodging it, only one was taken out.

"Raptor 04 is down!" Reported Raptor 05.

"Don't give me a casualty report just keep firing!" I ordered the rhythmic thumping of the 50 cal machine gun, only stopping to reload which is being covered by the soldiers inside the humvee. All the while the car was swiping to avoid the enemy's arrows, it was clear they exploded when they hit something.

"Commander, our mages are becoming exhausted!" Reported the elven runner.

"Send in the reserves to replace them." The elven commander ordered.

"Can't sir."

"Why's that?"

"We have no more reserves they were all killed during the bombings and the artillery bombardment have completely destroyed our rear lines!"

"Why wasn't I informed of this earlier?"

"It's because the artillery bombardment prevented us from sending runners here."

The commander's face then paled at the report "who are we fighting?" The elven commander said to himself.
