Chapter 7:
Blitzle Bop
Location: Striaton City
My time in Striaton City had come to an end. So many fond memories were built up here. Some pleasant and some not so pleasant, but this was also the sight of the first big step on my journey.
Bianca would be staying behind to take on the Gym. She had recently caught the Munna she wanted so she was pretty much set. Plus, with Pansage, she could take down the Water Type that I presume Cress will use.
The last part of Striaton than I went to was the park with the fountain in the middle. There were also the wooden archways with lavender climbing all over it. This would lead me down my next road.
Location: Route 3
The first part of Route 3 was a concrete path that led in a straight line. Trees were on either side as I walked to the end, which had a place that holds many memories for me; Striaton Daycare.
Yeah, this is where I went to Preschool. It's where I met Cheren and Bianca actually. I remember playing with the toys indoors and on the equipment outdoors. Since the decade I was there, the slide had been replaced with a newer (and honestly much less dangerous) one and they had also added a sandpit. I saw the children going down the slide and playing in the sand, probably pretending to be Sandile or something.
The Day Care is also a Day Care for Pokémon. This is where people go to have Pokémon raised and bred for Eggs.
There was one thing that hadn't changed, however. It was the Daycare Worker, Margaret. One of the nicest people you will ever meet. She takes her job seriously, but that means you have to love having fun with a bunch of snotty horrible rugrats.
I hadn't seen her in years aside from maybe running into her once or twice when doing grocery runs with Mum, so this was quite exciting.
There she was. Brown hair (though slightly graying now), pink shirt, yellow apron and still the lovely smile that I had always known her to have.
"Hilbert?" she asked.
"Hi Margeret"" I replied.
She gasped, stood up and hugged me. "Look how big you've got! I'm telling you when you went here, you were at least a third of your current size. So nice to meet you! What are you up to now?"
"I'm a Trainer now!" I shouted, sending out Oshawott and Pansear. It was here where the kids took notice.
"Oh wow, a Trainer!" one of the young boys said.
"So this is what you're doing now! You've dreamed of this day for a long time haven't you. Say, how would you like to be part of a lesson?"
I'd be down for that. Cheren had his go back at Striaton School. He taught children, I'm about to go the extra mile; teach toddlers.
Margaret clapped her hands. "Okay class, today Hilbert here is going to teach you how to catch a Pokémon!"
"Pick me! Pick me!" said a Girl, putting her hand up.
"Let Hilbert show you first. Would you please demonstrate?"
Just outside the Day Care was a small patch of grass.
"So, you want to watch?" I asked.
The whole group cheered.
I walked in and encountered my next friend. It was a Pidove!
Pidove (マメパト)
025
Normal/Flying Type
Tiny Pigeon Pokémon
1'00" (0.3 m)
4.6 lbs (2.1 kg)
These Pokémon live in cities. They are accustomed to people. Flocks often gather in parks and plazas.
"Pansear, go!" Pansear was still out so it jumped into battle. "Use Incinerate!" Pansear shot a flame at Pidove. It got singed in the face. Pidove then flapped its wings to create a gust of wind. Pansear stood its ground.
"That's Gust!" Margaret taught the kids. "It's a Flying Type move. Okay Hilbert, you know what to do!"
I got out a Pokéball and threw it. Pidove went inside and we watched it shake.
"Will he do it?" a Girl asked.
Sure enough, I would! Pidove stayed inside!
"That's how it's done!" I said.
"I want a go!" A young boy came forward. "Can I catch a Pokémon? I don't have one yet."
I needed to break it to him.
"Well, if you don't have a Pokémon with you, then you can't. It's too dangerous if you haven't got one with you. You'd be out in the open for attacks and I don't want your Mummy or Daddy to have a go at me because I allowed you to get hurt."
He didn't seem that upset. Lots of children didn't have Pokémon of their own so feeling jealous seemed pointless.
"May I though?" a young girl asked with blonde hair asked.
"Of course!" Margaret said. "This young one's name is Dorothy, she uses a Pansage and her ambition to become a Trainer is through the roof."
Dorothy sent out the green small Pokémon. "I'd like a go!"
I let her though to the grass. We watched carefully to see her first encounter. It was a black Pokémon with white stripes, 4 legs and a white spiky mane.
Blitzle (シママ)
028
Electric Type
Electrified Pokémon
2'07" (0.8 m)
65.7 lbs (29.8 kg)
When thunderclouds cover the sky, it will appear. It can catch lightning with its mane and store the electricity.
"Pansage, use Vine Whip!" Pansage summoned some vines, then hit Blitzle with them. Blitzle then started storing energy. Its electric power rose.
"That move is Charge" Margaret said. "It raises Sp. Defense and doubles the power of the next move if it's an Electric Type attack. It won't matter too much with Pansage though; it's a Grass Type."
"Now use Lick!" Pansage licked Blitzle. Vine Whip would have knocked it out, so it was a good call.
Blitzle shot an electric bolt at Pansage. It did quite a bit.
"Shock Wave" Margeret brought up. "An Electric Type move that never misses. Now's your chance Dorothy!"
Dorothy got out a Pokéball and threw it. Blitzle went inside.
"I'm scared Pansage" she said.
She didn't need to be; Blitzle was caught!
"You did it!" I shouted as everyone else cheered.
"Well class" Margaret said. "That should be it today. Your parents should come and pick you up. You have a lot to tell them I'd imagine."
The Pokémon Day Care has an extra room so they're letting me stay the night. What can I say aside from the fact that today was great? I caught my first Pokémon and showed some infants how it was done to! In terms of distance, I didn't get far today. But in terms of strength, this might be one of my biggest leaps yet. But I've only been on my journey a week so we'll see what happens.
