Chapter 15:
Plasma in the City
Location: Castelia City
Today I thought I was going to take in the sights of Castelia City. But with Bianca meeting me right as I came out of the Center doors, yeah. I knew something was up, especially when I saw her face was red from sobbing.
"Sniff. Something happened. Come to Prime Pier, it's the furthest pier to the west. Burgh will explain."
I didn't hesitate; I followed her.
We both walked down Castelia City's dock, not saying a single word until we got to Prime Pier. I reunited with Burgh, but also met a girl. She had thick, long black hair and a cream shirt with pink ends at the sleeves.
"Why are we waiting?!" Bianca yelled. "Are we any closer to getting it?"
I asked Bianca what she was talking about.
"Her Munna was stolen" the girl said.
"I can only guess who did it," I said. "Team Plasma failed to get the Dream Mist once, they must be trying again. "
Bianca wiped her eyes. "Sorry, I forgot to mention my new friend. This is Iris, she's from Opelucid City and she's was a witness to what happened."
"COMPLETELY UNFORGIVABLE!" Iris shouted. "WE WILL FIND THEM, I PROMISE AND GIVE THEM WHAT FOR!"
Whilst Iris's ambition to find Team Plasma was certainly there, her anger almost gave us a heart attack. But I was willing to help in anyway that I could.
"Pidove, go!" I shouted, as my Flying Type was sent out. "Pidove, go find Team Plasma."
Pidove flew into the air, then into the city.
After five minutes, Pidove came back. It pointed down the first street.
"They might be at Central Plaza" Burgh informed us. "Let's head down Gym Street."
We all ran down to the Central Plaza with the big fountain in the middle. Team Plasma wasn't there.
"Pidove, that wasn't-"
Pidove was eating bread on the floor being thrown by some children.
"PIDOVE!" Iris shouted. "We're looking for Team Plasma, not lunch!"
I recalled Pidove and apologised to everyone. Pidove is usually reliable, but sometimes instincts can get the better of you.
"It's fine" Bianca said. "Face it, we're never getting Munna back! Dad was right, I'm not a good Trainer! I should call it quits."
Iris grabbed Bianca's arm before she could call him on her Xtransciever, tugged her shirt and brought her face close to Iris's eyes. "Now listen Bianca. You have two Badges! That's impressive, and you're really going to let those Plasma poop heads get away? I know you won't allow it, and I won't either." She let go. "Hey, I know what will cheer you up. Let's go down Mode Street!"
Mode Street wasn't as busy as Gym Street, but it did have quite a few trees down the side giving the feeling of nature in front of the business buildings. Next to the trees was an ice cream stand. It had a cardboard cutout of a small white Pokémon on it called Vanillite. I knew what Pokémon it was because I knew where we were.
"It's Tuesday!" Iris said. "That means it's Casteliacone day!"
Casteliacones are the most popular type of ice cream in the Unova region, though it's somewhat unknown in other places. Now I consider myself some kind of ice cream connoisseur; I've tried and ranked every common flavour, and Casteliacone is always at the top. (My least favourite is lemon, and whoever thought lemon would be a good idea should just never, anything every again honestly). However, the downside of Casteliacone's popularity is that they are notoriously hard to get. EXCEPT on Tuesday for some reason.
"Have a cone each on me!" Iris said, paying money and giving us all the ice cream.
We all licked our cones delightfully (well, Bianca tried to) as we talked about our plan.
"Don't worry, we can always contact the police and they can try and retrieve it" Burgh said.
"Or we could take down Team Plasma since they're right over there" I said pointing.
We all saw an M Grunt, minding his own business.
No time for ice cream; we all threw our cones of the floor, ran down the street to the Grunt and jumped him. Iris got the legs, Bianca got the left arm and Burgh got the right. I did the talking.
"Where is it?!" I shouted. "You took Bianca's Munna! Where is it?"
"What Munna?" he replied promptly. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Playing dumb are we?" I said. "Well, that doesn't work on us!"
Bianca let go of his arm and told Burgh to grab it as well, to keep him in place. "Hey Hilbert, how about we have a battle in front of this Grunt? I'm sure he would love to see our friends get harmed."
"Alright fine, I'll take you!" the Grunt yelled. "It's just down Narrow Street! It's down there I promise!"
I had Dewott's scalchops behind the Grunt's back so that he could have a good slice if he was lying. He walked us down Mode Street and back to the Central Plaza.
"I have a bad feeling about this" Burgh said. "I don't like going down Narrow Street, there are a lot of thugs and generally some bad people. This could be a trap."
By the first look of it, I could see where Burgh was coming from. Narrow Street was dark, unlike the lit up streets we had already been down. The only lights were some wall lights that were flickering intensely; the bulbs probably hadn't been replaced in months.
"Wait" I told everyone. "What if the Grunt isn't down there?"
"Nope!" Grunt M said. "He's down there."
In the dark, I could see some thugs with some army knives out.
"We'll go" Bianca said. "Iris?"
"I will!" Burgh said. "Iris is new to Castelia City. I don't like Narrow Street, but I at least know what to do in this situation. Hilbert, Iris, you keep scouting. There is an abandoned building opposite the Gym, check there."
The Plasma Grunt was sweating; a potential indication that we should go.
"Come on Berty!" Iris said. (Not you to!)
We went back down to Gym street and saw the building opposite the Gym. All the lights were off, except the ground floor.
"That should be the place" I said. "I hope Burgh and Bianca are okay."
Iris was confirmed to be right when we saw two Grunts walking out.
"Say, where did Freddy go?" the female one said. "He just went to get Casteliacones for us."
The other shrugged.
"Hey!" I said. "What's going on?"
Both Grunts looked at each other in somewhat fright, but this is Team Plasma we are talking about. They're serious about everything. These two seemed slightly wussier, the Jessie and James per say.
"You can't come in!" the male said. "Ghetsis won't allow you!"
"So he's in there?" I asked. "If you won't let us in, then we'll battle our way in. Right Iris? Are you fine with that?"
Iris took out a Pokéball. "Fine? I'm raring to go! Let's get Munna back!"
Hilbert and Iris Vs. Team Plasma Grunts
"I choose Sandile!" both Grunts shouted as they sent out the small orange snappy Pokémon
"I choose Audino!" I said.
"Go Axew!" said Iris. She sent out a small grey Pokémon with two small white tusks.
Axew (キバゴ)
116
Dragon Type
Tusk Pokémon
2'00" (0.6 m)
39.7 lbs (18 kg)
They mark their territory by leaving gashes in trees with their tusks. If a tusk breaks, a new one grows in quickly.
"Use Sand Tomb!" both Grunts shouted as they trapped both Pokémon in sand, preventing switching out.
Just then, Audino jumped started creating a pink area around the battlefield. "Now what?" I said, as Audino jumped onto the Sandile to the right, paralyzing it. "Body Slam?!"
"Secret Power actually!" Iris said. "It's effect changes depending on terrain. We're on a pavement so it paralyzed Sandile. Now for my move. Axew, Dual Chop!" Axew chopped the left Sandile twice.
"Sandile!" Grunt F shouted. "Use Torment on Audino!" Sandile started aggravating Audino.
"Secret Power!" However, Audino couldn't use it. Torment is a move that prevents a Pokémon from using the same move twice.
"Dual Chop!" Axew chopped the right Sandile twice, fainting it.
"Sandile!" Grunt F said. "Use Assurance!" Sandile attacked Axew by jumping into it.
"Secret Power!" Audino once again took in the surroundings, then jumped on Sandile. It didn't paralyze this time.
"Axew, Dragon Rage!" Axew shot blue flame like energy at Sandile, finishing it.
"PLLLLLAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSMAAAAAAAAAAA!" both yelled.
"You're a strong Trainer!" I told Iris. "And Axew is a strong Pokémon!"
Both Grunts looked at each other.
"This is bad for Plasma" Grunt M said. "Plasbad for short. We should tell the big guy. You two are coming to."
We both gulped. We wanted to receive Munna, but Ghetsis is not to be messed with.
We were taken into the building and there he was, Ghetsis. As scary as last time. With him, were two other people in similar clothing. Their clothes weren't as grand though. One of them had a slightly long white beard and the other had a big blond moustache.
"Lord Ghetsis, Lord Gorm and Lord Bronius of the Seven Sages. These two Trainers." Grunt M looked at us with gritted teeth. Their personalities had taken a complete 180, though their fear was still intact. I could see why.
"They beat us!" Grunt F shouted. "They're trying to retrieve the Munna from that girl."
Ghetsis simply glanced at us. "What is it you want? I told you back in Accumula Town to stay out of our business!"
"Never!" I shouted. "I disagree with you. Pokémon are friends. Me and Dewott, Iris and Axew, Bianca and Munna, we look out for each other. Liberation is an awful thought."
Ghetsis slammed down his cane. "Silence! Fine. We will give you back Munna, but only if you promise to stay out our way. One response and that's it."
I was shaking. This was an important decision.
"I made a promise to Bianca" I said.
Ghetsis grinned evilly. "You don't have long to think."
"Fine" I sighed.
"WHAT?!" Iris shouted. "But… you're strong enough to take them down."
"That's a good boy." He handed me a Pokeball with a flower sticker on it, the exact type of flower on Munna's body. "That's one threat out the way. Our time in Castelia City is done. Team Plasma, let's leave. Plasma will prevail."
Ghetsis walked past me, both Sages walking past to.
"You are interesting" Gorm said. "Do you… really want to do this?"
"No" I said. "I want to take you down… but I can't break a promise"
"Don't worry" Bronius said. "Try and take us down if you will. I admire your spirit. However, we won't go easy on you."
Would I really do that?
"Munna!" Bianca said, hugging it upon return. "I am so sorry!"
Iris looked at me with sadness. "But… you promised to stay out of Team Plasma's way. That's the way you could get it back."
"Oh, right" Bianca said. "I guess it'll be up to me and Cheren. Are you alright with that?"
I didn't know what to do other than that, aside from continue on my journey. Plus, what about the other sages? Would I be allowed to take them down? I didn't like to think about it.
"If it makes you feel any better" Burgh said. "Tomorrow, would you like to take on my Gym first?"
Now that is what we call some good news! Third Badge here we come!
"You're on Burgh!"
So I had made a promise to Team Plasma about staying out their way, sort of. But all's well that end's well. Bianca got her Munna back and tomorrow, Burgh is going down!
