Mary Schmidt, who turned 18, found the only job in Utah that didn't require a diploma when she dropped out of high school at 16. It was Fredbearina's Cabaret, a place that exploded in popularity for young adults like her way before its first year ended. Despite its overwhelmingly successful public image, Mary Schmidt couldn't help but have a bad feeling about the Cabernet, mainly because of the Vanishings of '83 and '87.
Mary Schmidt sighed, knowing this was the only job in Utah with decent pay for new employees. She steps into the building and takes in the spacious and aesthetically pleasing environment. With waiters and waitresses serving the customers, the hostesses kept the customers busy during the day, and Mary smiled a little at how surprisingly pleasant the building was.
When she was walking over to a table, Charles Afton himself approached her with a confident expression on his face.
"Ah, hello there! You must be the new employee I've heard about. Mary Schmidt, is it?" Charles Afton gives his hand for a handshake.
"That's right, Mr. Afton. I'm here to be a nightguard, mainly because this is the only job in Utah with decent pay, to be honest." Mary Schmidt scratches her head.
"Well, you've undoubtfully come to the right place! I'm sure you saw the newspaper, how you get $10 an hour and $1,680 a week. That payment alone will certainly get you places if you're dedicated enough to the company Eric Emily and I have made. And hey, dropping out of high school ain't stopping you from getting the money you need!" Charles Afton shows his confident and charming personality to Mary Schmidt.
"Hehe, you got that right." Mary Schmidt smirked a little, liking Charles' personality.
"Now, here's the thing if you aren't aware. I've purposefully given this job offer to anyone because the vanishing of my family and friend, Eric Emily, has haunted people in the U.S., especially Utah, for quite some time. I was willing to help ease the citizens' wariness by making this job offer, not just at Fredbearina's Cabaret but also at Fredbearina's Family Diner." Charles Afton explained his business's history.
"I'm sorry to hear what happened to your family and Eric Emily, Mr. Afton." Mary Schmidt would frown a little.
"It's okay. Those disappearances were beyond anyone's control. That is why I'm determined to keep something like that from happening to anyone else, and that's where you come in, Mary Schmidt." Charles Afton replied calmly.
"Come with me. I'll show you where the Office is." Charles Afton winked, leading Mary to The Office.
Once there, the Office was rather large, with a desk, fan, computer, and a small TV. A poster of Fredbearina, Springbonney, Freddrina, Bonney, Chyka, and Foxy is stuck to the wall. But what got her attention was the two buttons on each side of the Office, a red button and a white button.
"So yeah, as you can see, the Office here has gotten renovated recently, so it's all sparkly for you on your first day." Charles Afton spoke to Mary Schmidt about the Office.
"The two buttons you see from the two sides are essential to your job and Fredbearina's. The white buttons are for turning on the lights to see potential predators and what have you. And the red buttons are to close metal doors that will keep you inside on the off chance a predator does find you." Charles Afton explained how her job works.
"Sounds like you've spent a small fortune on this." Mary Schmidt remarked.
"No doubt about that. Here, see this tablet?" Charles Afton shows her an electronic tablet.
"Is that for the cameras?" Mary Schmidt asked.
"Exactly. This tablet is the only electronic that allows you to see through the cameras, as it's also essential to your job. You must check to see if there will be any predators trying to find you at your Office. But considering how peaceful everything is these days, I doubt you'll have to do much to get the money you deserve." Charles Afton shows his confident and charismatic personality.
"Well, I'll certainly check to see if everything's in order, even if I can't leave the Office." Mary Schmidt brushes some of her hair out of her face.
"That's a good employee. Your job will begin at midnight on Monday. Seeing how determined you are, I expect great things from you, Mary Schmidt." Charles Afton gives her a handshake.
"Thank you, Mr. Afton," Mary replied with a smile.
"Alrighty, sport. I got more new employees I have to see since they're getting the nightguard job themselves. Take care!" Charles Afton waved goodbye.
Mary Schmidt chuckled pleasantly at Charles Afton's personality before looking at the outfit he left her.
Unbeknownst to her, her job may give high pay, but being a nightguard won't be so ordinary...
