Mary Schmidt walks into Fredbearina's Caberet to find the place having a show featuring the animatronics, Fredbearina, and Company. Remembering how her encounter with Bonney played out, she tried her best not to notice the animatronic bunny grinning at her seductively and smugly before winking at her. Mary Schmidt makes a scowl as she clocked in on schedule.
"Hey, Mary. I assume your first night went well?" Charles Afton greeted her enthusiastically.
"Everything went A-OK, Mr. Afton." Mary Schmidt shook his hand with a fake smile.
"Things are looking on the uppity, thanks to you taking the job. If anything, I might plan on giving the nightguard job to all the other locations in America." Charles Afton chuckled.
"Really? That might spice things up more!" Mary Schmidt replied.
"No doubt about that!" Charles replied.
"You know, Mary. I'm not the type of person that expresses myself to my employees, but sometimes I think if I had established a job like a nightguard post way back in 1983, maybe my family and Eric Emily's disappearances would've been avoided. I may sound like I'm blaming myself for all that had happened, but I'm not. With you and other nightguards in every location in America, things are about to reach their peak again in a couple of years." Charles Afton expresses himself to Mary.
"I'm sure your family and Eric would be proud of you doing all of this for the people..." Mary Schmidt gives a genuine smile, touched by Charles' speech.
"I bet they would, Mary. And hey, we gotta get on with our lives at some point." Charles replied, being cheerful as always.
"Well, I best be going. I have a meeting with the board of directors tomorrow to discuss how the stocks have soared. See ya, Mary!" Charles walked away, waving goodbye to him before heading out of the building.
Mary Schmidt was surprised to see how cheerful Charles was; even some of her employees noticed this.
"Man sounds like he's having a pleasant day. Even more pleasant than usual." One of Mary's co-workers spoke to her.
"Yeah, if anything, it doesn't sound like the disappearances of his family and Eric Emily had affected him. Usually, people would be more down to earth after something like that." Mary Schmidt expressed her curiosity.
"His pride in the company he created might drive him forward, which is good!" Mary's co-worker replied, walking away.
Mary Schmidt, unsure of what to think of Charles' talk with her, decided not to think of anything as she went to the Office while Fredbearina's Cabaret. As the Cabret closed down, she remembered the old time she saw the news of the Vanishings of '83 and '87 when she was a child. Even as an 8-year-old girl, she understood perfectly what transpired at Fredbearina's Caberet and Family Diner.
Sighing at herself for remembering those events, Mary would fall asleep as her second night nears...
