Mary Schmidt would arrive at the Caberet to see herself in an unusual sight. Most of the time in the Cabaret, there is always loud chatter while everyone enjoys their meals and drinks and waits for the animatronic girls to perform on stage in the evenings. However, everyone was quiet and murmured as the animatronic girls stood on stage, active but not performing. Even for Mary, this was quite an unusual sight.
"Hey, Mary. You okay?" Charles Afton spoke to her.
"Yeah, everything's gone quiet all of a sudden. What's going on?" Mary asked.
"Weird stuff's been going on. Ever since I had that meeting with the board, the building's power had been acting up an hour ago. The light's been flickering, the furnace in the basement is heating up for unknown reasons, and the animatronic girls are too scared to perform in the conditions the building got itself into. I can't blame them, though. Seeing something like this would scare anybody sentient to know what's happening." Charles Afton explains the situation with the cabaret.
"Is the backup generator still good?" Mary asked.
"Yeah, the backup generator shouldn't be affected by the main generator acting up. I figured this would happen one way or another, but I didn't think it would happen during your first week or with any of my new employees. We'll have to close down the cabaret for the time being once this week is over. In the meantime, it's best to continue your first week here so you can get your first paycheck." Charles smiled optimistically, despite the circumstances.
"Yeah, good idea." Mary nodded in agreement.
Charles Afton gives a thumbs up before walking away. Mary would walk around the cabaret to see if everything was in perfect condition. The stages are clean, the kitchen oven, sinks, and washers seem to have no complications, and the Office she works at doesn't have the same light problem as with the lobby. One of her employees walked into the Office to check on the desk.
"Anything suspicious?" Mary asked her co-worker.
"Nope. Clear." Her co-worker replied before walking away.
Sighing with frustration over being unable to help with the cabaret's power problem, she would lean back on her chair and ponder what could be causing the power to ct up. She'd believe the animatronic girls would be the cause since they consume much of the building's power when they recharge for the day. But then again, the main generator, though outdated, is still reliable in supplying electricity to the building. She could only hope that the main generator didn't suddenly give out.
"Attention. Due to the circumstances of the power of the building, in addition to potential safety hazards, we would like to instruct you to leave the building early for today. We are sorry for this inconvenience to your visit, and we will immediately see the problem through. We hope you enjoy that your visit lasted as long as it did, and we hope to see you again." An automated voice spoke to the customers and employees in the building.
"That probably should include me, but I'm a nightguard, so..." Mary scoffed before going to sleep to get ready for her 3rd night.
The lights go off completely as the last customer and employee leave the building, and all but the Office light remains shining in the darkness. With Mary fast asleep, more than willing to go through her 3rd night, the animatronic girls that watched the whole thing go down had their eyes go black with their white pupils shining. They all looked at each other with disapproving looks as if they couldn't believe they had to cancel a stage performance for the first time in their careers.
Foxy was especially unhappy with her performance canceled as her hook shined in the darkness, waiting to pounce on Mary Schmidt...
