Chapter 59:
She is the Champion
Location: Undella Town
I decided to spend the day in Undella Town just to get my head together. I was really concerned that a Sage had got away. Not just any Sage, I'm talking about the fridgid weirdo Zinzolin. Aside from Rood, I liked none of the Sages. Of course, Ghetsis was the one I hated the most, but something about Zinzolin REALLY rubbed me the wrong way.
I sat on one of the sunbeds and watched the clouds walk slowly across the sky. Quite frankly, this was the most relaxed I had been on my journey since I set out again.
Just then, I heard something squidgy walk from behind me. I got up and saw a young boy in a wetsuit with what looked like a smaller Floatzel with an orange collar around its neck.
Buizel (ブイゼル)
418 (National)
Water Type
Sea Weasel Pokémon
2'04" (0.7 m)
65 lbs (29.5 kg)
It spins its two tails like a screw to propel itself through the water. The tails also slice clinging seaweed.
"Hey," I said. "I thought I was the only one here. Get you, having a vacation not in the Summer."
The boy shook his head. "Oh no, I live here. My name is Draco, Draco Rich. I live in that house over there." He pointed to the giant mansion. "Well, for now at least. It's our final day living here. My parents let me go down for one more Dive to the Abyssal Ruins to find treasure. I didn't find any this time."
I decided to walk and talk with him. Why would they move? The house seemed like anyone's dream.
"The Mansion is quite old and it's being torn down for a new construction project. We weren't hesitant to move at all; we've already found somewhere new."
Draco took me to the house, where an old man in a brown suit opened the door.
"No luck?" he asked.
"No Grampa Zillion. Not the Swanna's song I was hoping for." He petted Buizel on the head. "I'm gonna miss this place, but I understand why we're moving."
I went in to see the place pretty much empty. No pictures on the walls, no TVs, just a bunch of boxes.
"Now say," Zillion said. "You wouldn't happen to be Hilbert would you?"
"That's me," I said. "Weird times huh?"
Zillion tilted his hat. "I was the only one against this. My Grandfather built this Mansion, and his work seems to have gone to waste."
"Not particularly," I said. "Clearly this place has housed this family for generations, but it's time is drawing to a close as is. It's time to start anew."
"I'll… think about it," Zillion said. "I'm sorry, but could you leave please? I have a few more things to do. That means you to Draco."
Draco nodded. "Sorry you couldn't stay for longer Hilbert, but Grampa Zillion is the only one who isn't too keen about moving."
I understood completely, so I decided to go for a walk.
So, I walked down the path next to the beach to the place with a bunch of villas. They looked far more modern than the rusting Mansion. I decided that I wanted to have a peek inside.
Well, I wasn't quite expecting what I saw. Inside, was a blonde woman in a black dress. My mouth dropped.
"My goodness," I said. "Are you?"
She smiled. "Yes, it is. Nice to meet you. My name is Cynthia, former Champion of the Sinnoh region. I've come to Unova to find out more about its origins, and I like to stay here whilst doing so. I've been waiting for you, Hilbert Whittaker."
I knew what Cynthia was going to offer, and I wasn't going to turn it down.
"Shall we do this?" I asked.
Cynthia grabbed a Pokéball. "Of course! Sinnoh and Unova will collide in this epic battle!"
Hilbert Vs. Cynthia
"I choose Spiritomb first!" shouted Cynthia. She sent out a purple Pokémon with green spots all over it. It was coming from a small stone.
Spiritomb (ミカルゲ)
442 (National)
Ghost/Dark Type
Forbidden Pokémon
3'03" (1 m)
238.1 lbs (108 kg)
Its constant mischief and misdeeds resulted in it being bound to an Odd Keystone by a mysterious spell.
Spiritomb has no known evolutions.
I needed to think; Spiritomb had no weaknesses. "Excadrill, go!" I shouted. "Start with Sandstorm!" Excadrill made a large sandstorm in the tiny villa.
"Shadow Ball Spiritomb!" Spiritomb fired a Shadow Ball at Excadrill; it didn't do much.
"Use Earthquake!" Excadrill made the whole villa shake, doing lots of damage to Spiritomb in the process.
"Will-O-Wisp!" Spiritomb fired a small-blue flame at Excadrill. When it landed, Excadrill was burned.
"Another Earthquake!" Excadrill once again made the villa shake, knocking out Spiritomb.
"You did well Spiritomb. 108 congratulations are in order. Go Eelektross!" Cynthia shouted. Like Spiritomb, Eelektross had no weaknesses. Electric's only weakness, Ground, is non-existent due to its Levitate Ability.
"Rock Slide Excadrill!" Excadrill made rocks suddenly appear from above Eelektross; it came crashing down onto it.
"Use Flamethrower!" Eelektross fired a pillar of flames at Excadrill, dealing the final blow.
I had always heard Cynthia was strong, but those stories didn't do her justice. "Scrafty, go!" I yelled. "High Jump Kick!" Scrafty kicked Eelektross in the face.
"Wild Charge!" Eelektross covered itself in yellow electricity, then charged into Scrafty. Scrafty was almost down.
"Brick Break!" I shouted. Scrafty chopped Eelektross, knocking it out.
"Congratulations, but let's see how you deal with Milotic!" Cynthia sent out a tender-cream Pokémon with a red and blue tail.
Milotic (ミロカロス)

Its lovely scaled are described as rainbow colored. They change color depending on the viewing angle.
Feebas -Trade with Dragon Scale- Milotic
Scrafty started charging headfirst into Milotic. Then, it headbutted Milotic in the face with all its force. "What was that?!" I shouted.
"Head Smash," Cynthia told me. "A very powerful Rock Type move that does recoil damage to Scrafty." She was right; Scrafty was rubbing its head in pain.
"Great job Scrafty! That could be a game changer in the future!"
"Milotic, Bulldoze!" Milotic made a small tremor that finished off the already exhausted Scrafty. The Head Smash didn't help, but it had brought down Milotic's HP by a lot.
"Gothitelle, go!" I shouted. "Use Thunderbolt!" Gothitelle fired a lightning bolt at Milotic. Milotic's Sp. Defense was very high though so it took it.
"Hydro Pump!" Milotic shot a deluge of water at Gothitelle for tons of damage.
"Enough Gothitelle. Zekrom, go!" My Legendary was sent out.
"Bulldoze!" I forgot about that. Milotic made a small tremor that also lowered Zekrom's speed. "Now Blizzard!"
"Oh no," I thought. Milotic breathed in, then shot lots of snow in Zekrom's direction. Thankfully, Zekrom dodged!
"Now Fusion Bolt!" Zekrom charged into Milotic covered in blue electricity. Not quite a knockout, but still, lots of damage.
"Blizzard one more time!" Unfortunately, this Blizzard hit. Zekrom was frozen solid, and fainted.
"Unbelievable," I said. "She took down Zekrom. But it did a lot to Milotic. Gothitelle, go!" I shouted. "Thunderbolt!" Gothitelle shocked Milotic into Kingdom Come.
"Good strategy. Okay Lucario, go!" Cynthia sent out a blue and yellow fury Pokémon with spikes on its hands and black ears.
Lucario (ルカリオ)
448 (National)
Fighting/Steel Type
Aura Pokémon
3'11" (1.2 m)
119 lbs (54 kg)
A well-trained one can sense auras to identify and take in the feelings of creatures over half a mile away.
Riolu (B) -Happiness- Lucario
"Telekinesis!" Gothitelle lifted Lucario up into the air.
"Dragon Pulse!" Lucario fired blue energy at Gothitelle. This one missed to.
"Okay Gothitelle, come back. Come out Chandelure!" I yelled. Lucario's next move was Extremespeed, which didn't even touch Chandelure due to the Type.
"Dragon Pulse!" This blue energy was a hit which Chandelure more than took.
"Inferno!" Chandelure created a pillar of flames around Lucario. It was a Critical Hit! Lucario was down.
"Well, they don't call you the hero of Unova for nothing. Braviary, go!" Cynthia sent out the red and blue Flying Type. "Shadow Claw!" Braviary's talons turned black and it swiped Chandelure. It almost went down.
"Flame Burst!" Chandelure fired a flame at Braviary which exploded upon impact.
"One more Shadow Claw!" Braviary swiped Chandelure one more time, taking it out.
"Gothitelle, I choose you!" I shouted. Deep down, I wasn't sure if I even stood a chance. But the fact I was doing as well as I was amazed me.
"Shadow Claw!" Braviary swiped at Gothitelle, and left it hanging by a thread.
"Thunderbolt attack Gothitelle!" Gothitelle fired a bolt of lightning at Braviary. Not only was it Super Effective, but Braviary was also paralyzed! Now Gothitelle could go first! "One more!" Gothitelle fired one more bolt at Braviary, finishing it off.
"Not many make it to my final Pokémon. You should call that an achievement in and of itself. Go Garchomp!" Cynthia sent out a navy Dragon Type with a red stomach and yellow abdomen.
Garchomp (ガブリアス)
445 (National)
Dragon/Ground Type
Mach Pokémon
6'03" (1.9 m)
209.4 lbs (95 kg)
It is said that when one runs at high speed, its wings create blades of wind that can fell nearby trees.
Gible -Lv 24- Gabite -Lv 48- Garchomp
"A Pseudo Legendary," I said. "This Cynthia means business."
"Use Crunch!" Garchomp flew over to Gothitelle and bit down on it for the final blow.
I was sweating. I could see why Cynthia was a Champion at one point. "Samurott, you're my only hope!" Out came my strongest Pokémon against Cynthia's strongest Pokémon.
"Dragon Rush!" Garchomp got covered in blue energy. It flew headfirst into Samurott for a lot of damage.
"Samurott, counter it with Hydro Pump!" Samurott fired a mega-geyser at Garchomp, but compared to Dragon Rush, it didn't do much. This match was over.
"Finish with Earthquake!" Garchomp roared, making everywhere around us shake. It shook away the rest of Samurott's HP, giving Cynthia the victory.
"Thanks," I said, shaking Cynthia's hand. "Regardless of who won, it was an honour battling you in the first place."
Cynthia smiled. "That's nice of you. You know, if you battle like that, I have a feeling that you will put up an even better battle with Alder! Not that anything could top your battle with N of course."
"You're right," I said. "I knew this before, but in all the excitement with Team Plasma, I almost forgot about Alder! Once the rest of those Sages are down, I'm going to beat the Elite Four again, and then beat Alder! Thank you!"
I walked out the door and decided I would say one final goodbye to the Riches. A moving van outside had just hit the road, ready for the family to leave tomorrow.
Cynthia has inspired me. I do need to become Champion. That was the original plan before N, and it will be my plan as soon as possible!
