Chapter 63:

Bianca's Final Battle

Location: Nuvema Town

Looker got out his laptop and showed me the drone footage. Above Route 18, we could see him; Rood. The final Sage.

"That's our target, I think," Looker told me. "As I said, I know what's going on with you two. But we do have to bring him in for questioning."

I was conflicted because this man was doing something which few dare to do; go against the word of Ghetsis. Especially if you're part of Team Plasma and, on top of that, a Sage.

"We'll head out immediately," I said. "Well, you do the arresting stuff."

"Which reminds me," Looker said. He took out a TM, which contained the move Hone Claws. "Zinzolin apparently told me to give this to you. Curious. Well, I shouldn't delay you anymore."

As I got ready to go, Bianca ran over to me.

"Erm, Hilbert? There's something I want to tell you…" she said.

"Bianca, I just see you as a friend," I quickly responded.

"No no it's not that! It's something else…"

I asked her politely if it could wait till later, as I needed to get to Route 18 to deal with Rood. She understood, but I also understood that she was desperate to tell me whatever it was.

Location: Route 18

I surfed along the ocean and saw the island come into view. "There it is Samurott, our next stop." Samurott continued to swim along, and we landed on the small island. "Okay, let's find Rood."

"Hey!" Lorcan yelled, as he and Throh came down the cliff stairs to greet me. "I heard that you returned Larvesta. Thanks for doing it."

"It's fine," I said. "Say, have you seen one of those Team Plasma Sages around here?"

Lorcan took me up the cliff stairs. It was the amazing view of Castelia City in the distance that I saw the last time I was here. However, I wasn't eyeing the skyline this time; I saw Rood looking out to sea from below.

"I need to get down there," I said.

"Allow me to be of assistance. Throh, Seismic Toss!"

"Seismic wha-!" Throh grabbed me. It then jumped high into the sky, and through me to the ground. "Gothitelle, Psychic!" Like before, Gothitelle came out and lifted me to the ground. Rood had noticed me.

"Hilbert?" he said. "What are you doing here?"

"I can explain," I said. "Listen. Looker needs to take you in. You're not in as much trouble as the other Sages."

"Is that so?" he asked. "Well, I can see he's just doing his job."

I was confused at this point. If Rood was against Team Plasma, then why was he a Sage?

"Ghetsis wandered the land looking for likeminded people. He saw what I desired; the ability to understand minds and the needs of others. Little did he know that he didn't understand mine. I don't think his ability to understand the hearts and feelings of Pokémon were enough. That is why his plan was put into motion, and why you and N won."

Just then, there was a thud sound from behind us. It was Looker, having just had the Seismic Throw shortcut from Throh.

"Rood," he said. He was a bit dizzy from the impact. Humans aren't Purrloin; they can't land on two feet. "I'd say you're under arrest, but I don't know yet. But come to the precinct and we'll find out what's the deal with you."

"Gladly," Rood said. He wasn't even put cuffs. "Will Plasma prevail? Only time will tell. I hope to meet you again, Hilbert." Through the cuffs, he lifted up his coat pocket and had a TM fall out. "This contains Double Team. Take it." I did just that.

"Thank you, Hilbert," Looker said. "You have done your duty and we have apprehended what we can. I also hope to see you again soon."

As Looker took Rood away, I needed to find out what was going on with Bianca…

Location: Nuvema Town

I headed back to my hometown. Bianca did seem very eager to tell me what was going on; part of me wished that there was no delaying her. She didn't mind though; she's not someone to rush about. If anything, that's what makes her late all the time.

She was waiting for me outside of the Juniper Lab.

"Hilbert," she said. "Thank you so much for accompanying me on this journey. Without you, I don't think daddy would have let me go. But I'm afraid my journey has come to an end."

"What?" I asked. "In what way?"

Bianca's face lit up to show her usual jolly persona. "Because Professor Juniper has asked me to be her assistant!"

"Bianca that's amazing!" We both hugged. Bianca clearly enjoyed Professor Juniper's company, and Professor Juniper liked having her around. This seemed like her dream. "Aren't you going to miss the feeling of adventure?"

"Of course! But I'm looking forward to finding out more about the world with my role model! And I'll have my Pokémon with me to keep me company!"

"So," I said. "If your final days of a Trainer are coming up, what do you say to one last battle? It's been some time."

Bianca got out a Pokéball. "You're on Hilbert! Let's do this!"

Hilbert Vs. Bianca

"First up, I choose Stoutland!" Bianca shouted.

"Excadrill, go!" I replied. "Let's start with Sandstorm!" Excadrill made a sandstorm that swarmed the whole town. (Wasn't sure that was the best idea, people's rooms potentially filled with sand).

"Now Stoutland, Fire Fang!" Stoutland's fangs caught fire, and it bit down on Excadrill for Super Effective damage.

"Now use Earthquake!" Excadrill made the entire ground shake. Stoutland barely hung on, but I knew that the Sandstorm would finish it off.

"Use one more Fire Fang!" Stoutland bit down on Excadrill with its flaming jaws one more time. Excadrill was also burned. Finally, Stoutland went down from the Sandstorm.

"You've become strong, I must say. Come on out Jellicent!" she shouted.

"Earthquake!" Excadrill used another Earthquake, which did about half damage on Jellicent.

"Use Surf!" Jellicent made a wave that swamped Excadrill. It fainted.

"Zekrom, go!" I shouted. "Fusion Bolt!" Zekrom charged forward covered in electricity, but it missed.

"Now use Ice Beam!" Jellicent fired a cold beam at Zekrom for Super Effective damage.

"Fusion Bolt!" Zekrom used the move successfully this time, knocking out Jellicent. However, Jellicent had Cursed Body and disabled Fusion Bolt. Typical.

"Simisage, go!" shouted Bianca. I wasn't quite sure what she was going to do, seeing as Simisage's Grass Type moves wouldn't do that much on Dragon Type Zekrom. "Use Dig!" That was why. As Simisage dug underground, I sent out Scrafty to take the hit.

"Now Scrafty, use High Jump Kick!" Scrafty kicked Simisage in the face. It did a lot.

"Come back with Seed Bomb!" Simisage fired some seeds at Scrafty, which exploded upon impact. It was a Critical Hit.

"Now Brick Break!" Scrafty chopped Simisage for just enough to knock it out.

"Oh no, Simisage. Mienshao, come out!"

I was not willing to put up with a Fighting Type, so I switched to Chandelure. "Ready?" I asked.

"U-Turn!" I forgot she had that. Mienshao leapt into Chandelure, then went back to Bianca. She then sent out Musharna.

"Chandelure, Shadow Ball!" Chandelure fired a Shadow Ball at Musharna, who's high HP took it.

"Come back with your own Shadow Ball!" Musharna fired a black ball back at Chandelure. This was also a Critical Hit.

"Get just one more in!" I shouted, as Chandelure used one final Shadow Ball. It didn't know it out, but Musharna's did.

"Good job. Okay Scrafty, go!" Scrafty came out again. "Use Crunch!" Scrafty chomped down on Musharna, dealing the final blow.

"Mienshao, come out!" Bianca shouted. "Use Drain Punch!" Mienshao punched Scrafty, which let it recover a bit of health. Scrafty fell down, defeated.

"Urgh. Okay then. Gothitelle, come out!" I shouted.

"U-Turn!" Mienshao used the Bug Type move, but it missed!

"Psychic!" Gothitelle lifted up Mienshao with its mind, then slammed it on the ground. It was a one hit knockout.

"My final Pokémon, Emboar!" Bianca sent out the Pokémon that started it all.

"Gothitelle, Telekinesis!" Gothitelle lifted Emboar up into the air.

"Use Flare Blitz!" Emboar covered itself in flames. Then, it charged into Gothitelle. Flames came off upon impact and Gothitelle was down. Emboar took recoil though. Thankfully, the floating was still in effect.

"Samurott, go!" I shouted. "Use Hydro Pump!" Samurott fired a blast of water at Emboar, and it took lots of damage.

"Emboar, Wild Charge!" Emboar suddenly covered itself in sparks. Then, it charged into Samurott who also took a lot of damage. But I had this.

"Surf attack, go!" Samurott created a large wave that took down Emboar. I had won.

"Well," Bianca said. "If Tepig and Oshawott can mess up your room, imagine what that would have done."

Honestly, I don't think we would have had a house. "I must thank you know," I said. "Through the battles we had, I've got stronger. Strong enough to take down the Gyms, Team Plasma, the Elite Four and hopefully Alder. I plan on taking the Elite Four again in, two days."

Bianca was confused. "Why not tomorrow?"

"I want to battle Cheren one last time," I said. "It's only fair. Do you know where he would be?"

Bianca told me that Cheren had gone up to Victory Road, near the top though. He was doing some training of his own.

"That's convenient! Okay, I'll do that. Then a day afterwards, it's League time!"

Bianca has decided to go down a different path, and I'm not angry. Not that the path of a Pokémon Trainer was the wrong one for her, but rather it sparked a new passion in her. And with the Sages out the way, I can now focus on what I set out to do; take on the Pokémon League once and for all!
