Spending some time with Uncle Al (1)

Alastor didn't know what to say or really do.

Ever since his curse had been mostly lifted and now his capacity to use his demonic powers had increased without feeling the strain imposed by Furfur's passive control over him, things have been quite simple for him. He felt happier, he felt he had more energies to use and... he felt bored. A bored man was as dreadfully-minded as a tired one. That much he had already grown to know, but his current plight was in how he was thinking of solving this.

"Uncle Al, buying an artillery piece to bomb Vox and Valentino will not do you good."

"Trust me, child," Alastor hummed giddily as he browsed over the multiple howitzers that the shop they were in had. Alan had been such a dear to lend himself to help him picking the right one but he was also being a nag in trying to dissuade him from having some good ol' fun. "It will sure warm up my little heart to see the fools screaming at the fire and the explosive death!"

"I was referring to the fact Lucifer would take offense since it's in the middle of Pentagram City. While that would normally be fine, with what happened with Furfur he is still a bit wary to close an eye on what we do."

"Hmm, that would be..." Alastor paused and then sighed. "Troublesome, I believe. Still, I need a way to kill off some boredom and I have already exploited all possibilities in Hell- Well, the Pride Ring."

Alan nodded at this, understanding how limited the list of things to do could be but... then realizing something which could help Alastor with his current plight.

"What about the living world?"

"The living world? I mean, I am now a freer demon, but not to the point of being able to visit it without a member of nobility- Oh," The Radio Demon paused, turning to look at his nephew. "And what do you want to show me then? I doubt there's much for me to find there that could appeal to me."

"How about a haircut?"

Alastor frowned a bit at that suggestion, but then he realized Alan had noticed that a few changes were indeed happening. Back when his form was more 'consistent' and unchanging, his hair would never get too long unless he wished for it. Alastor just found it a benefit that he never thought he would start missing as now his hair was growing without leaving him much of a chance to prevent this process. Still, getting a haircut?

Despite what Alastor may have to say about modern times, the notion of getting a haircut and seeing how some barbers and hair stylists were working now never passed by his thoughts. Curiosity took hold, a smile appeared on his face and he allowed this interest to drive him to accept the proposal. It didn't take them too long to get through the 'border' and finally arrive at 'home'.

His hometown had changed a lot. He had seen some of the few differences already when he checked it around the time Nestor was alive, but it's been many decades now and the town was close to becoming a city. Not with skyscrapers, not with the population not seeing the need of an aggressive house expansion compared in other corners of the US. Wandering these familiar streets felt refreshing and nostalgic, his smile wavered out of personal delight and sadness. It's been so long since he had been there and... it was home. It was his home.

And it took so long to be back. Then again, it could have taken him longer but... it was great. Truly great.

The stroll to reach the local barber shop filled Alastor with old memories he had forgotten. Some were about his family, of the times he would be given the chance to be a normal child where their parents were not around. The times he would go to school. The times when he would be going to the local candy store... which was still there!

After such a trip down memory lane, Alastor was pleasantly calm when he sat down the free seat at the barber shop and allowed the barber to take over for the process. Humming silently, Alastor appreciated the old-styled music that was played through his haircut, closing his eyes and moving his head whenever the barber asked him to shift to allow a better view of the spots to cut to be reachable.

It was a speedy business too despite how noisy some of the tools used were. It was annoying due to the buzzing noise it made which reminded him of a few insect-like monstrosities back in hell. It was fastidious, but Alastor held through this little torture and the result was... quite good. He couldn't exactly get a perfect haircut considering the fact he was asking for a style that had long been phased out, but he was nonetheless pleased by the

"This is... different, I suppose. I was aware things have changed and always thought that the changes were mostly... Well, bad," Alastor admitted as he took a glance at the perfect haircut he got. "But I suppose this is one of the perks of modernity."

"Glad to hear that," Alan hummed in relief. "So, where now?"

"Where?" Alastor tilted his head to the side and then an idea came to him, a silly one but- "Candy."

The younger demon frowned. "Candy?"

"I noticed the old candy store Nestor and I used to go by as kids is still open. I wonder if some of the things they would sell are still trendy enough to be around."

The young man merely nodded at this decision, slightly confused by the unexpected move from his great-great-uncle, but still amused by the overall situation he was dealing with. Alastor had gone out of his shell and outright turned into an outgoing individual that wanted to be around other people. That was progress for Alan as it meant that there was a chance to fix some of the mess Furfur made to him.

But that would have to wait. After all, two adults were after some good ol' candies. And Alan was down for some chocolate cookies.

AN

One of the (hopefully) many chapters bringing up Alastor's relationship with Alan. 'Uncle' and Nephew on the move to have some wholesome fun... when possible. If not, it will be a messy carnage.

REVIEW Q&A!

Raging Drake: I am taking notes of these ideas.

Coldblue2015:
1) Something like that, yeah;
2) Yes, between wholesome and lewd, or a bit of both;
3) It's a bit of a big question, I'll let the chapters speak for that;
4) They are working for Alan. I think I already mentioned that in It's in the Blood;
5)
They tend to avoid the sexy times in general, so they wouldn't know much about it;
