Lee crossed his arms in front of his chest as he watched the forest, letting himself soak in that darkness for a while, ignoring the pain he felt in his body.

He was in pain all day, but he stayed strong, he tried to ignore it while he focused on another more important matter.

He didn't understand, but something inside him changed after being shot. If it was him a few days ago he would be worried to death about Ben, about Kenny, but now, he didn't feel much about the two anymore, he only worried about Clementine.

It wasn't like he didn't think about Ben and Kenny, he just didn't see them as priorities, even though Ben was a good kid, he wasn't exactly the best person to handle hard situations, whether it was helping in a confrontation against a huge group of walkers, or shooting back at a group of bandits.

Kenny, well, he had forgiven Kenny, but as he had told Duck, he didn't forget what he had done, but at the same time, he didn't hate him, Lee believed in second chances, he just didn't feel anything toward Kenny.

Just an emptiness.

If he was killed, or left the College alive, to Lee, it doesn't matter.

And this thought, this "lack of empathy", scared Lee, he didn't want to become like most people in that world, he didn't want to become like the bandits he killed, or the people who attacked him.

But he couldn't do anything about it.

"What should I do?"

He asked mentally, looking up at the sky through the treetops, as if trying to talk to God.

He was a religious man, always had been, although he hadn't stepped foot in a church in a long time.

Carley- Hey Lee.

The woman's sweet voice brought him out of his own thoughts, and he turned his face away, looking at Carley who sat next to him.

Lee-can't sleep?

He asked gently, looking away.

Carley- No, I'm surprised Duck and Molly can sleep that well.

She replied, taking a quick glance at Duck, the boy was sleeping with his pistol right beside him, the safety lock was on, it seemed as if he didn't want to let go of the gun.

The girl's mind traveled to the moment when Lee was teaching Duck how to shoot and use a knife, in this case his machete. She was surprised by the level of detail he taught the boy, and at the same time, frightened that he was teaching such dangerous things to a ten year old kid.

Honestly, she didn't even know how to feel anymore.

They were silent for a few seconds, but Lee could feel the girl's agitation beside him.

Carley- You still haven't told me why you're covered in blood.

She mentioned, breaking the silence and looking at Lee.

The man sighed at the look on Carley's face, he knew she would be on his back until he answered, after all, she was a reporter.

Lee-... Car accident.

He said simply, but he knew the woman wasn't satisfied with that short answer.

Lee- I... I was shot, that's when some men showed up and took Clementine away.

He started, there wasn't much point in hiding the truth now, and Carley deserved to know, since she was helping him and all.

The woman looked surprised at first, but didn't say anything, she let him continue.

Lee- I made it to the car, as soon as I felt a little better I came to Savannah, well, in short, I was not as well as I thought I was, I passed out on the wheel. I woke up and it was already night, I don't know if it was the same day, or the day after, luckily I wasn't hurt, but unluckily, I was surrounded by walkers that were attracted by the sound of the car flipping over.

He straightened up, glancing quickly at the fire, and then turning his gaze back to the darkness of the forest.

Lee- I didn't fire a single bullet, I killed and gutted as many walkers as I could, I only stopped when I realized that they weren't trying to bite me anymore, that's when I discovered that when you cover yourself with their guts, you hide your smell, and they can no longer tell you apart from one of them. I walked all the way here on foot, that lasted one day.

He explained everything to her, it was better to tell the whole truth at once, for both of them.

Carley-... I could tell you were hurt, the moment I hugged you, you let out a little moan of pain, I didn't ask because I wanted you to tell me of your own free will.

She explained, hugging her knees in front of her body, making Lee look at her.

Lee- Well, with this whole situation, with Clementine, I kind of didn't want to talk, I was hoping to tell you everything when I get her back.

He rested his arm on one of her bent knees, supporting his body on the free arm, which had his hand against the floor.

Carley- How did this guy know about her anyway? I mean, it doesn't make sense, how does he know her? How did he manage to find you?

she asked, also looking into the darkness of the forest.

Lee- Her radio, all those "fake" conversations she had with her parents, were actually real conversations with this guy. Apparently, he seems to be the "leader" of this Crawford, or whatever, since the men reported everything to him, obeying his orders.

He answered, feeling the woman next to him have a certain change of air.

After that, silence reigned between them once again.

Carley- I thought you were dead, you and Clementine.

She said suddenly, almost like a confession, followed by a relieved, melancholy, and even a little sad sigh.

Lee- ... I don't know how I'm alive either, Carley, to be quite honest.

He sighed lightly, lowering his eyes to the floor.

Carley- And Kenny, I don't know how he had the courage... I don't even know how you could forgive him... What he did, even if indirectly, was attempted murder, to you and an eight year old child.

Lee-... I killed many people after that too, you know.

She looked at her for a while, searching for the right words to say.

Lee- And I'm still going to kill more tomorrow.

Carley- But that doesn't make you a bad man, you killed because it was necessary, to defend yourself, to protect Clementine, Kenny tried to kill you because he wanted to, just because he doesn't like you, and as a consequence he tried to kill Clementine, THAT makes HIM a bad man.

A slight tone of irritation was present in the words of the woman, who still stared into the darkness of the forest.

Lee- ... Maybe it doesn't make me a bad man, but it sure doesn't make me a good man.

He answered, and looked at her.

Lee- I was angry with him, for a while, I wanted to hurt him, hurt him so bad, I even thought about killing him, but, if I did that, if I let those thoughts take over my mind, I would be no different from him. Honestly, I want him to get better, to become a good man again, but if he doesn't, that's fine by me, as long as he doesn't leave Clementine in danger again, I don't give a fuck about him.

He said neutrally, and turned his gaze to the forest again, leaving Carley trapped in her own thoughts.

- A few days earlier.

Kenny felt a throbbing pain spread through his head, a hot liquid trickled down his temple and dripped onto his shoulder, staining his clothes with that crimson red.

Opening his eyes slowly, he observes the state he was in.

His hands were tied behind his back, his mouth was covered with tape, and the people around him were the same way.

Ben had a desperate look on his face, and was worried. He looked like he had been beaten, his eyes were bruised purple, and there were some bruises all over his forehead and cheek.

Omid was still unconscious, and was in the same state as Ben.

Crista was already awake, and despite the situation they were in, she had a pretty calm look on her face, and of all people, she seemed the least beaten.

The truck, or the vehicle they were in, stopped at once. Kenny gave a slight groan as he felt his back collide with the metal behind him.

The back doors of the vehicle were opened, and a bald, dark-skinned man climbed out, and walked towards them.

- Okay girls, we don't have all the time in the world, walk.

He said, grabbing Omid by the shirt and practically dragging him outside, dropping his body to the ground quite roughly.

Kenny closed his eyes because of the brightness of the place, and as soon as he got used to it, he looked at the huge building in front of him.

The place they were in was huge, and several people were walking around inside, all of them armed, and most of them were men, at least as far as Kenny could tell.

- Ah, they're here. Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please?

A somewhat annoying male voice caught Kenny's attention, and he turned to the owner of it.

What really caught his attention, however, was the little girl who was walking right behind the man with a distant look on her face.

"Clementine?!"

- I'm sorry for the rough treatment of my... "friends", but you were pretty son of a bitches yourselves, so don't blame them. Don't worry, you'll be treated well here.

The man continued talking, but Kenny didn't hear a word that came out of his mouth, his eyes still focused on Clementine, mentally asking the girl to lift her head and look at him.

- Well, the reason I brought you here is, well, my family has to eat, you know? And you, so young, energetic, excited, will be making a meal.

Kenny now looked at him wide-eyed, remembering the St. John's farm almost immediately upon hearing those words.

His eyes then focused on the two walkers tied to a chair not far away, the same walkers the man had pointed out.

- Come on, get the damn tapes out of their mouths.

He said half irritated, and some men approached the group, removing the tapes from their mouths.

Kenny- Clementine.

He called out to the girl, almost immediately when his mouth was free again.

The girl looked at him, surprised to see him there, but slowly, her look of surprise faded away, and a neutral, blank look took its place, causing Kenny to be confused by this sudden change in the girl.

"I can't say I blame her."

- Oh no Kenny, my dear Clementine doesn't want to talk to the man who abandoned her in that motel, don't waste your energy trying.

He said, but Kenny just ignored him, mentally wondering how he knew, but still focusing on the girl.

Kenny- Clementine, where is Lee?

he asked, not taking his eyes off the girl.

Clementine looked at him in surprise again, and this time the surprised look gave way to a hurt, broken, sad look.

Kenny felt as if the girl was going to cry right then and there, but she stood her ground.

Clementine- He's... He's dead.

She said simply, making Kenny's eyes widen as the small hope that had been born in his chest broke into a thousand pieces.

Clementine- It wasn't you who killed him.

The girl said again, causing Kenny to be confused by what she said.

- Oh, you know what? You can cover their mouths again, this is very rude, but our guests don't seem very willing to cooperate.

He said in an annoyed tone, turning and walking towards the two walkers ahead.

Kenny didn't fight the man who was leading him somewhere far away, his eyes were still focused on Clementine, seeing how different the girl looked, and mentally killing himself knowing that he was the one who had caused this in her.

At least, that's what he thought.
