Hope this is worth the wait! Anyway Javi is love, Sky and Z are ultimate love! Peace! ✌

Chapter 8: For Someone to Say

To say Sky felt jealous, would be an understatement, when he saw Z sitting right there, with that new boy, Javi, talking, laughing, having a good time. He was 'into' music, and that had brought the two of them so much closer in just… two days. Z was a very outgoing person, she enjoyed talking with almost anyone, could strike up a conversation, keep it going without letting the other person get bored, and was in general… enjoyable to be with. And this Javi boy seemed to be made of the same material!

In barely two days, he had made Z well acquainted with everyone in the entire C-Squad, and Z had a ton of new people to hang out with. She was their senior, and on the training grounds, she behaved accordingly too, letting no one take advantage of the fact that she behaved nicely with them when they were all chilling in the common room. And Sky realised he couldn't even complain. Z was just so… perfect.

He didn't want to admit that he was jealous, of course. That would imply he was admitting he cared for Z. Ok he did care for Z, but it didn't mean he'd go around admitting it! Sky Tate had always been, and probably would always be, very closed about his feelings.

Javi on the other hand, however, Sky realised, was not.

"You're AWESOME" Sky heard Javi telling Z, as the two of them carried a box full of something into their room. The room HE shared with Z, and then they slammed and locked the door from inside.

Sky pressed his ear against the door, to listen. The door was thick, and metallic, so only some sound perpetrated, and he struggled. He heard sounds of laughter, which set him on fire, but he still eavesdropped, pausing to wonder if he should borrow some sort of listening device from Kat.

"Well, Ranger Black, are you ready for the GREATEST jamming session of the century?" Sky heard Z ask, her voice tinged with mischief, and Javi's voice, in the exact same tone, responded, "Let the Beat… DROP!"

Following that, Sky could hear nothing of the conversation the two were having over the extremely loud, and irritating music that was now blasting from the room. Covering up his ears to avoid the Green Day, the My Chemical Romance, the Panic! At the Disco and the Linkin Park, he turned around, and walked back all the way to the command centre.

"Hey!" Z's chirpy voice distracted him from the handbook, just the way it always did, and Sky felt he had travelled a month back in time.

"Hey" he replied, without much emotion.

"Someone sounds depressed" she plopped down on the common room couch next to him.

"Why don't you go play with your new friends?" he asked, distastefully, and Z chuckled, "Because my best friend is sitting here, being grumpy"

"Since when am I your best friend?" her grumpy best friend replied, "isn't that Javi?"

"I'll admit, I thought things won't be the same between us anymore but…" Z paused, hanging out with Javi, being around his jovial nature had reminded her of a lot of nice things in life, that she had almost forgotten about herself. With their wedding, and complications in their life, the two of them had grown up, almost too fast, and Javi being the adorable person he was, had reminded her that all things were not as complicated as people made them.

"I don't know what you're going through, Z, but just… smile, and make Sky smile" Javi had told her, "AND maybe get him some marshmallows" Javi's love for marshmallows (without hot cocoa on most occasions) was ALSO starting to rub off on Z.

"How'll that help?" she had asked, and Javi had replied, "whatever it is, as long as you're not leaving each other to fight it alone, you'll be okay"

And that's when Z had realised that in hanging out with Javi, and trying to make herself feel better, she had inadvertently pushed Sky away. He needed it just as much as she did, and she wanted to make amends.

The first thing she could do, was to reclaim her best friend.

"… but that doesn't mean we can't be friends" she said, finally, after a long, long pause, and with a small smile. Sky turned her head at her and she saw hurt in his eyes, and then saw it give way to a wry smile.

"You really think so?"

"As long as you got the annulment papers done"

"The what—?" in his entire… jealousy over Javi, he had completely forgotten about the damn annulment!

"The annulment?! Of our so called WEDDING?" Z said, almost freaking out for a second, and then recovering, closing her eyes, "you know what? I'll get it. You're an idiot"

She watched Sky's face drop at that, and he looked like an angry puffball with the air all in his cheeks, Z quickly dropped her annoyance, "but you're my idiot" she smiled. That was the only way she could make him feel better.

She looked into Sky's eyes, those same, intense, passionate blue eyes, deeper than the deepest oceans, and as if by a jolt of electricity, found herself knocked back into a flashback… The last she had been this close to him, staring in his eyes, feeling like she'd drown in them… she had leaned ahead and kissed him.

Right now, she felt the exact same urge.

But with no alcohol to suppress her conscious nervous system, she quickly pulled away, the man may be her husband, but she knew he did not love her the way she loved him, and she didn't want to cross any limits.

Thankfully, Javi was there the next second, plopping down on the couch right next to Sky, to save her the embarrassment of saying anything, and handed a bowl of marshmallows to Sky, "Hey Reddo!" he smirked, "care for some marshmallows?"

"What?" Sky turned to look at the bowl, and found himself so utterly confused by it.

"Marshmallows!"

"Don't you want some… hot cocoa, or chocolate, or… anything with them?" Sky asked, and Javi grinned his alluring smile.

"I'm good!"

"Oooookkaaaayyyyy"

"Hey Z" basically leaning over Sky, he turned to Z, who was sitting on Sky's other side, and asked, "You free tomorrow?"

"Hmm? Depends on what you're asking." she smirked, "if you want me to do your files, I am a busy, busy bee, do your work yourself! and if you're up for something fun, my sched's clear"

Javi grinned, "Okay, so hear this, my sister (and her girlfriend) got four tickets to a… Kygo concert! Wanna go?"

"OH MY GOSH!" Z almost yelled in Sky's ear, "I DO!"

Javi also mirrored Z's expression almost completely, "AWESOME!" he said, "I'll tell Izzy we're coming!"
"AND i'll finally get to meet your sister!"

"AND YOU'LL FINALLY GET TO MEET MY SISTER!" Javi repeated, excitedly.

Sky groaned, again, making the other two realise that in talking, and coming closer to each other, they had both literally sandwiched Sky in between, "excuse me" he said, pushing them away, and got up, and was just about to leave, when Z grabbed his hand, "if you want we can get you another ticket too, Sky!" Z smiled at him good naturedly, and Sky shook his head, "No need. I'm babysitting my nephew tomorrow"

"You have a nephew?" Z felt shocked, realising that she hadn't heard of sky's nephew in the god knows how many years she had known him, and basically knew everything of Javi, his sister, and their (prison) warden father… She felt afraid for almost a second, that Sky was closing up to her again. And that was something she didn't want to let happen.
