(Author's note: Well, I'd like to start by apologizing for the form of writing, for being very similar to a script, I didn't know it was a kind of nuisance, here in Brazil this format is quite normal, my bad, I'll change it from now on. Thanks for letting me know. Enjoy the chapter! :D )

Clementine walked slowly towards the building near the river. Carlos had asked her to check on Jane and Carley, who were taking a while.

She wasn't in the mood to talk to them, in fact she didn't want to talk to anyone, just fill Kenny with questions, and force him to answer them if necessary.

She decided to take a short walk through the woods next to her, if the place was good enough for Rebecca to have the baby, it was good that she would make a short tour around since Luke was busy consoling Nick.

Her mind was trying to convince her, again and again that Lee had died, but her feelings just wouldn't listen to her words, her heart just ignored her brain, and that flame of hope grew with each time Sarita's words echoed in her mind.

She wished more than anything that Lee was alive, that she could hug him one more time, but she didn't want to let that hope grow so high, only to be destroyed later, only for Kenny to deny it, to say that he had not traveled with Lee, but with another man.

Who, coincidentally, had the same name.

A few steps forward caught her attention, and she instinctively grabbed her machete. The girl walked slowly towards the footsteps, slow enough to be those of a walker, but too heavy.

She heard a groan, something like a voice. Clementine crouched down and reached for the pistol on the back of her waist.

Hiding behind a bush, she sees a boy, a young man, a little older than her. He was wearing glasses with one of the lenses broken, and was wearing a brace for his leg. He was walking with some difficulty, talking softly about something Clementine couldn't hear, or simply didn't understand.

More footsteps were heard, this time behind Clementine. The girl turned quickly, and out of reflex, kicked the leg of the walker walking towards her, killing it.

The sound of his footsteps, along with the sound of his body falling, caught the attention of the boy ahead of her, who looked frightened, even angry, at Clementine.

- No! Get away from me! I don't have anything else!

he shouted, stepping shakily away from Clementine, who looked at him confused, and slightly irritated by the boy's loud tone.

- Shut the fuck up! I'm not going to rob you. - she said, pulling her machete from the skull of the walker at her feet.

- Bullshit! Your friends told you to kill me! They already took everything I had! Leave me alone!

He shouted again, saying some things in a language the girl didn't understand. But her golden eyes sharpened, looking strangely at the boy.

- My friends? Who? - She asked, slowly approaching the boy, who was terrified and tried to back away.

"He has a phobia of little girls? What the fuck is that?!" - She thought, feeling her patience running out more and more because of the way he was behaving.

- Don't pretend you don't know! The women in that building. They took all the medicine for my sick sister!

He shouted again, and Clementine sighed, rolling her eyes internally.

- Look, I didn't steal it from you. I don't even know you. This is the first time we've seen each other. - The girl said, trying not to get angry with this guy anymore, and at least to calm him down a little, because the boy's fearful, restless manner was draining her patience.

- Bullshit! You are not nice people! And when my group finds out, you'll be really sorry!

he shouted once more. Clementine's eyes narrowed, she straightened her posture, and looked seriously at the boy.

- What? - she asked, almost in a whisper, staring intensely at him.

It was risky, two of her group had stolen from a stranger, who was probably lying about his sick sister. And now, this same stranger said he would tell his group.

It was risky to let him go, especially now that they were in a very... delicate situation.

She sighed, shaking her head and ignoring what the boy was saying. Clementine raised the pistol to his head and pulled the trigger.

Without hesitation, without a second thought. If the boy returned to his group, they might want a certain kind of "revenge" against them. They didn't know how many there were, how many guns they had, how or where they were, she couldn't risk it.

It was necessary.

She looked for a few moments at the boy's body on the ground. Her golden eyes watched the surrounding forest, the sound would spread through the trees, hopefully it would be hard for the walkers to find the source.

Clementine turned around, walking in the same direction she came from.

After a while of walking, she noticed the small building up ahead, it was too small for a group of that size, if they decided to stay there, it would be really cramped.

She quickly climbed the stairs, hearing the voices of the two women upstairs.

- Clem? Is something wrong? - Carley asked. Clementine looked up at her; she and Jane were leaning on the railing in front of a cannon.

- I came here to see how the place is doing. - The girl said, looking inside the place.

"It's really quite small... but we can stay on the deck... if it's okay" - she thought, walking towards the two women.

- Is everything okay with Rebecca? - Carley asked again, leaning on the railing and looking at the river ahead.

- No. She's probably going to have the baby the museum isn't good enough, it'll have to be here - she replied, also leaning on the railing.

They were silent for a while, and Clementine sighed.

- I didn't know you were a thief now, Carley. - She said, and the woman turned toward her, looking at her in surprise, even a little incredulous at what she had just heard.

- I found the boy you stole from. If you are going to steal from someone, at least think about it. It was too risky to let him go like knows where we are, and with Rebecca's situation, we can't leave here, not anytime soon.

She explained. She didn't care much about Rebecca's condition, but she recognized that the situation of the group wasn't the best.

They were almost fucked, to put it in a kinder way.

- I was the one who decided to steal from the boy. We have injured people here, and Rebecca is not doing so well. We need this medicine - Jane said, looking at Clementine and stepping away from the handrail.

Clementine looked at her, neutral.

- I'm not here to judge anyone. I'm just saying, if I hadn't found him, he probably would have come back with his group. - She sighed, also turning away from the railing, and watching the women's surprised and doubtful gazes.

- ... What did you do with him? - Carley asked, looking a little afraid of the answer.

- I killed him. - She answered, staring into Carley's eyes, who were staring at her in shock.

Jane was visibly bothered by the girl's speech, but Clementine just ignored her.

She had made the most rational decision at the moment, and she was doing more for others than it seemed.

She killed him because she thought first of the situation they were in, of Rebecca. They were without food, water, only a few weapons, they didn't have a place to sleep.

Nothing, they had nothing.

Clementine turned and walked back to the stairs, leaving Jane and Carley behind, visibly uncomfortable and with dark expressions.

-This isn't normal ... that girl is losing her mind. - Jane said, not in an angry or worried tone, but in a sad, heavy, melancholy one.

Carley sighed beside her, shaking her head in agreement with Jane.

- I mean... she stood there, watching a man being beaten to death with a crowbar... Damn, she didn't even blink. - She continued, sighing and leaning on the railing again, glancing at Carley.

- She's different...but I don't know if we can blame her, Jane...I don't know what's normal anymore...and we're not so different from her, I don't think we can judge her. - Carley answered softly, letting herself be consumed by the dull green of the trees ahead.

-Maybe... but still... when I first saw her I... I don't know, I felt hope... a child, alive in this world... maybe I hoped that this world hadn't corrupted her, at least not too much, but... - She lowered her head, sighing heavily.

Clementine looked away from the river and fixed her eyes on Luke, who was walking slowly towards her.

- Hey. Carlos asked to check on you. It's been a while since he's seen you. - He said, looking strangely at Clementine.

-Yeah, well, the place looks good enough for Rebecca to have the baby. - She said, looking curious at the glow in Luke's eyes.

- Is there something you want to tell me? - she asked, arching an eyebrow and crossing her arms.

Luke continued to stare at her for a moment, and then he sighed heavily.

- ... Maybe later. - He said, walking towards the building behind the girl.

The girl looked at him for a moment, and then walked back toward the rest of the group.

Clementine looked at Mike and Crista, who were talking about something while two gallons of water lay at their feet, then she watched Carlos helping Rebecca walk. The woman was moaning loudly in pain and had one of her hands on her belly.

As she approached, Carlos looked at her, a mixture of relief and concern present in his gaze.

- Clementine! She needs a safe place now! She's going to have the baby! -Despite Charles's worried, almost desperate tone, Clementine just kept her expression neutral.

- The building by the river is safe enough for her to have the baby. The only problem is that it's too small for a group of this size, but we can manage. - She answered, watching Kenny, Duck and Sarita dealing with some walkers that came out of the forest. Maybe it was Rebecca's groans, or the gunshot that echoed earlier.

She picked up her machete and walked toward the trio, ignoring the people walking behind her.

- Hey, we have to go. - She said, getting their attention as she killed one of the approaching walkers.

Sarita was the first to turn around, followed by Duck and finally Kenny.

- We heard a shot earlier, is everyone okay? - the boy asked as they walked at a brisk pace toward the building ahead.

- Yes. Everyone's fine... well, not Rebecca. - she replied, smiling slightly as she saw Duck roll his eyes.

Carley was sitting on one of the benches, just in front of the building. She stood up in some rush as she saw Rebecca approaching.

- The noise will attract more of them. Duck, get Luke to come and help us hold them down here. We can't let them come up these stairs. - Kenny said, turning to a walker coming out of the forest and killing it, hitting the crowbar hard on its head, mutilating part of its rotting skull.

Clementine knocked down a walker and killed it, stabbing her machete into its skull. Then she turned to another one that was approaching from the side. She quickly knocked him down, cutting off half of his skull as he fell to the ground, killing him.

She looked to the side, there were a certain number of walkers approaching. But luckily, there weren't too many to worry about, although Rebecca's screams were loud, they didn't echo that far through those trees.

Luke came down beside Duck, advancing towards a walker and killing it with his machete. He pushed the walker's body back, knocking out two others that were approaching, and stabbed his machete into their skulls.

At one point, Clementine's eyes focused on Sarah, who was on the top floor of the building just staring at them in fright. That seemed to irritate Clementine a little more.

"She's standing around, looking instead of coming to help" - she would remember to tell Carlos to teach her how to use a gun, she needed to learn how to survive, ASAP.

After a while, Rebecca's screams ceased, and a soft, muffled cry was heard.

Kenny and Sarita looked at each other.

- Okay, let's go upstairs. - He said, looking at the few remaining walkers, quickly focusing his eyes on the large number of bodies lying around.

Clementine climbed the stairs, taking a quick glance at Kenny, who was closing the gate below.

The baby's cry became more audible, and she approached the group, curious. Her golden eyes focused on the little thing Carlos held in his arms, wrapped in some cloths.

She looked at Rebecca, the woman looked exhausted, she was paler, but she had a proud smile on her face as she took the baby from Carlos' hands.

Crista was right next to the woman, looking at the child the same way Rebecca was looking.

"Mother's thing...maybe?" - Clementine thought, remembering how Crista used to get every time she looked at her bulging belly, before she lost the baby.

A few hours had passed since then. It was already dark and the place was lit only by the light of the full moon. Clementine was sitting in a corner, looking at a fixed point, glancing at the people around her.

Nick had a downcast expression, he hadn't spoken to anyone, hadn't even looked at the baby, he was just staring at the floor.

Rebecca was sleeping, and Crista was mesmerized by the baby in her arms.

Clementine sighed, and looked away, feeling Luke's strange gaze on her again.

- Luke, if you have something to say, just say it. That look in your eyes is bothering me already. - She said softly, but loud enough for the others to hear. Luke made a strange expression, and then sighed.

-What happened to you, Clem? I mean, I could tell you weren't a normal girl back at the cabin, but... I don't know. I used to think that the horrors of the world hadn't gotten to you yet. But you saw Kenny murder Carver, beat him with a fucking crowbar. - He said, almost in confession, with a heavy tone and dark eyes.

Clementine just listened quietly, watching the man.

- You didn't even blink. You just stood there, staring, almost hypnotized by the scene.

- Carver deserved it. - Duck said, interrupting Luke.

- Carver was a bad man. I know that. I just hope we don't become like him. - Luke said, bowing his head.

- The moment you killed for the first time, you became a bad person. The moment you abandoned, stole, did whatever it took to survive. We are all bad people, Luke, we became that way a long time ago. - Clementine said, not caring much about the strange looks in her direction, she was starting to get used to them.

- I know that. But it's different, okay? There was no need to beat him to death, a bullet to the head was enough. And you didn't have to watch Kenny do it. - Luke insisted, and Clementine began to get slightly irritated.

- I didn't have to, but I did. I didn't have to kill, but I did. I didn't have to steal, but I did. I didn't have to do a lot of things, but I did, Luke, whether you like it or not.- She said, getting more and more annoyed by those looks, as if they were judging her.

- Who are you to judge her? - Kenny asked, slightly annoyed by the looks they were giving Clementine. He himself knew that no one there had the right to judge her, they had all done horrible things.

- ... These things are different ... you're not normal, girl ... you seem to be letting yourself go. - Jane said, crossing her arms as she leaned her back against the wall.

- Define "normal," Jane. Because I haven't seen anything normal in the last two years. - She answered, bowing her head slightly.

- Well, little girls don't watch others being beaten to death. Little girls don't step over dead people's bodies. You killed Troy, and you felt nothing when you did it. - Luke said, changing his voice a little more.

- I didn't want to say anything Clem... but I agree... the things you have done, that you have seen, I understand that they can change you, but you are losing yourself more and more. - Sarita said in a gentle tone, or at least it should be.

Clementine rolled her eyes, becoming even more irritated.

- You seem pretty eager to judge me, to tell me I'm losing it and all that shit, but have any of you ever wondered why I'm like this? - she asked, causing both Luke and Jane to look at her in surprise.

- Apparently not. But I'll tell you why. - She said, straightening her posture, as she braced her back against the wall.

- A man found me alone in my tree house when it all began. His name was Lee, and he decided to take care of me. He saved my life countless times, and took care of me as if I were his own daughter. After a while, I began to see him as a father. - She bowed her head, trying to control herself as she recalled so many difficult memories.

- Because of my stupidity, I was kidnapped by a crazy man who wanted me to be part of his family, and Lee was shot when it happened. The man I loved as a father ended up with three bullets in his body because of me.

She took a deep breath, holding back the tears that wanted to stream down her face.

- Things only got worse in there, this... man took my dead parents and tied them to chairs. I was forced to see my parents dead every day, to see my father's intestines dangling in front of me. Their blank stares when they saw me and didn't recognize me as their daughter.

She said, a mixture of anger and sadness accompanying her voice, and she passed the back of her hands over her eyes, drying the tears that stubbornly ran down her face.

- After that, Lee came to take me out. He survived the shots. But he appeared wounded, without an arm, without an eye, all to save cheated death one more time, only to be left to die in a walker-infested building. Do you understand what that's like? To be forced to see your parents dead every day?! To be forced to lose the person you love, twice?! No, you don't!

She gritted her teeth in anger, looking seriously at the ashamed and sorry faces in front of her, but caring little about it.

- Next time you wonder why I'm like this... well, there's your answer.

She said again, getting up and walking out of the place, leaving the people behind, thoughtful, sad, and most of all, sorry.
