Lee stabs his knife into the skull of the nearest walker, making his way to the restaurant ahead. Turning slowly, he looks at Molly and Kenny, who follow him further back, covered in walker guts.

The place was infested, the terminals were almost impossible to walk through due to the huge amount of dead people there. Lee was hoping they would find something, although he was used to walking among the dead, it was still a danger without equal, and he preferred not to have to do it often, at least not in a place as infested as this one.

And more walkers would arrive due to the noise of the helicopter's crash, Lee just hoped it didn't explode, otherwise it would draw even more attention and destroy any chance they had of finding someone alive.

Walking at a slow pace, they enter the abandoned restaurant, making as little noise as possible when opening and closing the door. The interior didn't have many walkers, not like the hallway outside.

Slowly, the three of them separated and began to silently eliminate each walker inside. Molly was skillfully killing them with "Hilda" in hand, among them, she was by far the most agile, due to her short stature.

Lee stabbed his knife into the head of the last walker, and looked around as soon as his body hit the ground, making sure there were no others.

- Jesus, I'm even dirtier than before.

Kenny complained, running his hands over his bloody clothes; he had black blood dripping from his body from the large amount that had spread.

- Good, that makes it harder for them to find you.

Lee said, jumping over the counter and going to the back of the restaurant, rummaging through drawers, cupboards, everything he could and could hide possible supplies.

- I have to say, there's a lot of stuff that people haven't been able to get.

Molly said after a while of searching, just after opening a cupboard further down the kitchen, Lee and Kenny approached her, looking with wide eyes and small smiles at a certain amount of canned food.

- Hopefully the whole airport will be like this.

Lee said, picking up a can of tuna and looking at the expiration date, smiling slightly when he saw that it was still edible, and that it still had a long way to go before it could rot.

- Damn, let's hope so. What about the helicopter?

Kenny asked, placing his backpack on the ground and opening it, grabbing all the cans of food he could in it.

Lee crouched down beside him and helped him, putting the rest of the food into his backpack as soon as Kenny's backpack was full.

- We can go there now, it's still morning, we can come back later and check out the rest of the airport.

Molly said, closing the now empty cabinet and walking back to the front of the restaurant.

- Well, if the other places are like this, we won't be able to carry much in our backpacks anyway. Fine by me.

Kenny said, looking down the corridor through the restaurant window, noticing the large number of zombies that walked there, but, little by little, seemed to separate in different directions.

- Okay, let's go.

Lee said, opening the door of the restaurant slowly, and starting to walk down the infested corridor.

They walked for a while through the infested terminal, looking for some accessible stairs, at least enough. All the stairs they had seen so far were littered with bodies, and it was rather dangerous to stay in a place like that for too long, so they decided to walk further, looking for some way that was a little "less infested".

But as soon as Lee's eyes hit the fire escape, a noise, very loud, echoed through the place.

It seemed that the entire airport shook with the huge explosion that took place, loud enough to shatter the windows and Lee could see some debris flying off the roof and falling onto the runways.

Lee looked back almost immediately, watching his two friends who were further ahead.

Kenny was helping Molly to stand up, she had fallen due to the fright and shaking from the explosion.

Another noise caught the trio's attention. Lee looked up quickly, and it seemed that everything had gone into slow motion.

The roof of the airport had collapsed, he could see perfectly the debris and burning debris falling towards them.

He ran backwards quickly, and managed to duck his head quickly enough to watch Kenny do the same, and try to pull Molly with him.

What was left of the helicopter fell right in front of them, separating them. The flames spread quickly, but Lee could still see things unfolding.

A piece of the helicopter's propeller had pierced Molly in her chest. The girl was staring wide-eyed at the metal structure that was impaling her, blood was pouring from her chest and mouth, and she was lying in the arms of Kenny, who was trying to say something to her that neither she nor Lee could hear.

Molly was desperate for a moment, but she didn't feel anything.

After a few milliseconds, the pain came, the sharp, piercing, excruciating pain. She tried to scream, but her voice didn't come out.

After the pain came only the overwhelming desire to sleep, the pain disappeared, and her body went numb. Her eyes became heavy, and she just surrendered to that sudden, almost peaceful weakness.

The girl's eyes slowly closed, and Lee felt his chest hurt as they closed completely.

"No..." - He thought ruefully, still looking at the girl's body, motionless in Kenny's arms.

Sometimes, just sometimes, he forgot how easy it was for them to die, it only took a bullet to the head, a knife, or in this case, a propeller to the chest, that the life that once inhabited a body slowly faded away.

He had been through a lot with the girl, and she had proved to be a valuable friend. And now, she was dying in that unfair way.

But at the same time, deep down, though he didn't realize it at the time, he was grateful that she had had the opportunity to leave quickly, without suffering.

Kenny raised his head and looked almost desperately at Lee. He tried to say something, but a wave of fire forced the two of them apart.

- Kenny!

Lee shouted, calling out to his friend just after losing sight of him.

-... Kenny! I'll meet you outside!

He shouted again, hoping that Kenny had heard him. He turned to the side, stabbing a zombie that had gotten too close due to his yelling.

Taking a few steps back, Lee stabbed another walker and threw it forward, knocking over a small group of the dead, and opening a passage.

He looked back one last time, sighing with relief as he caught a glimpse of Kenny running back the way they came.

Following his friend's example, Lee ran, pushing and "running over" any zombie that was in front of him.

However, the place was literally infested, no matter where he went, there were always dozens, if not hundreds of walkers in the hallways he chose or the stairs he saw.

His mind then went back to the fire escape.

He ran again, putting his arm just under the chin of one of the zombies and using it as a shield, pushing the rest back.

As soon as he spotted the door, he pushed the walker aside, knocking the surrounding zombies off balance.

He ran as fast as he could and opened the door, closing it tightly soon after.

Lee was panting. His eye went all the way up the stairs. There weren't many zombies around, and those that there were, were few, easy enough for him to deal with.

His mind went back to thinking about Molly, and he sighed heavily, feeling his chest ache. He had lost yet another valuable friend.

He shook his head and started down the steps, it wasn't time to grieve, he had to get out of that airport first.

In one swift movement, he killed the first walker he saw. Turning his body to the side, he kicks the leg of the corpse next to him, removes his knife from the skull of the zombie he killed, and stabs the walker in front of him, stomping hard on the one he had knocked out.

Looking down, he makes sure there were no other walkers around, and crouches down next to the three corpses, opening the stomach of one of them.

Gasping for breath, Lee turns and looks back. His eyes looked ruefully at the airport, now meters away from there. Once down the fire escape, he just walked down the runway to one of the broken fences and got out of there.

He came out with a backpack full of food, but alone.

He turned around again, making a mental route to where they had parked their car. With luck, Kenny would be waiting for him there.

Lee looked at the airport once more, lowering his head.

"Rest in peace, Molly" - He mentally wished, still with the image of her chest being pierced in mind.

He shook his head and started walking again, heading towards where, supposedly, the car would be.

- I don't know, but whoever it was, he lost!

Lee heard a male voice further ahead, instinctively, he bent down and grabbed the pistol at his waist, walking crouched through the trees towards the voice.

He could hear other voices nearby, but they were all drowned out by the sound of the car engine starting.

Lee's eyes widened and he stood up, running towards the car, which seemed to be moving further and further away.

Upon reaching the spot, Lee closed his eyes tightly and raised his head, cursing loudly as he saw the car already far away.

He put his pistol away again and put his hand on his waist, pacing back and forth thoughtfully.

Some time passed and the bushes ahead moved. Lee was attentive, and put his hand on the pistol at his waist, but he was hopeful that it was only Kenny, who had managed to get out of the airport.

But his eyes widened when he saw an absurd amount of walkers coming out of the trees, walking towards him.

It was quite a herd, the guts in his clothes were already out, and some of the zombies were looking directly at him.

- Fuck!

He cursed loudly, turning around and running back toward the forest.

He didn't know how much time had passed, he just kept focused on walking. The hot sun burning his skin didn't bother him, his mind just ignored the heat he felt, he just focused on walking.

He had ignored all the zombies he had seen so far, he had walked for at least a few hours, but he didn't really feel tired.

At least, not physically.

He knew that Kenny was alive, he had to be. Kenny was smart enough to take an opportunity as soon as he sees one. And he knew that Kenny was smart enough not to stick around that airport for too long, so, like him, he was probably walking down a road aimlessly, hoping that they could meet again.

There were a lot of walkers, and all that helicopter noise had certainly attracted a lot more zombies, for miles around.

And there was Molly, the girl had died so quickly that the reality even scared him. He was forced to remind himself that life was fragile, and that practically anything in those days had a chance to kill him.

Be it a zombie, be it a person, be it a fucking helicopter that fell off the roof of an airport.

He sighed, looking at the empty road ahead of him.

The sound of gunshots echoed through the trees and penetrated Lee's ears, and he turned around. It had been relatively close, but behind him.

A cry of desperation echoed shortly after, a man, and Lee ducked his head.

He sighed and turned around again, walking back down the road, trying to ignore what he had heard.

"Just ignore it, it's not your problem" - He thought, his mind was too heavy and preoccupied to deal with other people's problem.

Another scream echoed, this time a woman, who was screaming for the man.

"Ignore it, it's not your problem" - He thought again, feeling his legs hesitate to continue and his speed slow down.

He doubted himself that he could just ignore it, he knew himself well enough to know that.

- NO!

Another scream echoed, this time from a little girl.

Lee rolled his eyes and reached for his pistol.

" Goddammit" - He thought, turning around and running as fast as he could towards the screaming.
