At the H.I.V.E Tower, Gizmo was on his computer, finding ways to destroy the Teen Titans. Ever since Jinx left the H.I.V.E., Gizmo had taken charge of the team. It was hard for him to take control of things, and the noise his teammates were making from outside his workshop wasn't making things easier. They were playing video games in the common room.

"Woo-Hoo!" shouted a See-More. "Third win in a row!"

"No fair!" shouted Mammoth. "You play this game more than I do!"

"When are we gonna play?" shouted a Billy Numerous clone.

"Yeah, we've been waiting for an hour now!" shouted another clone.

"It hasn't been an hour!" shouted Mammoth. "It's only been fifteen minutes!"

That was enough for a brawl to break out. Kyd Wykkyd just sat on the couch watching the others fight, quietly as always. Gizmo had enough. He opened the door from his workshop to let the rest of the Five know.

"WILL YOU BIG LOUD MOUTHS SHUT UP ALREADY!?" he shouted angrily. "I'm trying to-"

Before he could finish, he heard his computer make a beeping sound. Gizmo quickly flew back to his computer in anticipation. His screen showed him an unknown network. Gizmo clicked on it to see its contents. He looked and saw the files. Among them were named 'T-Car Blueprints, Tower Defenses, Criminal Files, and Cyborg's Blueprints. Gizmo raised his eyebrows in excitement.

"Woah! I just hacked into the Teen Twats' security system!" he exclaimed.

He scrolled down looking at what else was in the system until he found an option that took his interest: 'Contingency Plans.'

"What's this little thing?" he asked himself as he clicked on it.

Gizmo looked at what popped up on his screen and saw something he thought he would never see: a way that could destroy the Teen Titans from the inside out. Unbeknownst to his teammates, Robin had set up plans to neutralize them in case they went evil, and Gizmo could now activate them from outside Titans Tower. Gizmo ran outside his workshop to tell the rest of the Five.

"Hey guys! I found a way to beat the Titans!" he shouted.

But, he quickly realized they couldn't hear him as they were too busy fighting over the video game controllers. Gizmo groaned in annoyance. He was going to have to wait until they got tired out of arguing, and he knew it would be a long wait.

(CUE THEME SONG)

INSURANCE

At Titans Tower, Starfire was training in the gym, but only she was doing more exercises than just her starbolt target practice. She was lifting weights, practicing hand-to-hand combat, and something that the other Titans had never seen her do before: swordsmanship. Starfire had asked Galfore to send her a sword from Okaara, like the ones she had used from her training days. Her starbolts were her primary way of fighting these days, but she wanted to be at her very best for when Blackfire pulled off her next big bad plan. There was no telling what that would be, so she wanted to be ready for anything her sister might have in store. Starfire held her sword in front of a robotic practice dummy, which was holding a quarterstaff. Starfire ran at the robot in an attempt to slice him apart, but the robot blocked her strike with its staff. The robot ducked as she tried another swing before her sword clashed with the staff. The robot was able to push Starfire back with a push from the staff to the sword. Starfire had noticed that her swordsmanship skills had been rusty ever since she had acquired her starbolts, but that didn't stop her from trying. As she ran to the robot again, the other Titans talked as they watched.

"Wow," said Beast Boy. "I've never seen Starfire use a sword before."

"Yeah, I didn't know she knew how to slice and dice," added Cyborg.

"I'm not sure if she even knows how to use that thing," thought Robin. "Maybe I should shut that robot down."

Just as he was about to reach for the controller of the robot, Raven put a hand on his arm before he could push any buttons.

"Give her a chance, Robin," she told him. "That sword doesn't look like it's from around here. Maybe she has experience with it."

Robin looked at Raven and glanced back at Starfire. It was true. He had seen a lot of swords in his life, but nothing like that. Maybe she did know how to use it. Robin put his hand down and let Starfire finish off the robot. Starfire was deadlocked with the robot, struggling to knock him off. But when she saw the staff swing at her, she ducked her head, and struck its head. The robot's body fell to the ground as its head flew to the other side of the gym. The other Titans stared at Starfire with amazement over what they had just seen. Starfire had turned to notice her friends staring at her.

"What is troubling you, friends?" she asked in confusion. "Do I have something in my hair?"

The other Titans snapped out their thoughts when they heard Starfire question them.

"Umm, no Star," responded Robin. "We just haven't seen you use a sword before, that's all."

"Where did you get that thing?" asked Beast Boy. "That's got to be one of the sharpest swords I've ever seen!"

"Too bad you're not that sharp," Raven snarked.

As Beast Boy tried to hold onto his anger, Starfire flew towards her friends with her sword in tow.

"This is a sword of Okaara," she explained to the others. "I used many of these when I was training there."

"You mean they taught you how to fight with swords, too?" asked Cyborg. "I thought they just taught you how to fight with your hands."

"The Warlords of Okaara offer many fighting techniques, Cyborg," responded Starfire. "I learned so much from them."

"But, why use it now?" asked Robin. "You seem to do just fine with your starbolts."

"I am training for our next encounter with my sister," responded Starfire. "I do not know what her next plan will be. I must be prepared for whatever that may be."

"Don't worry about Blackfire, Star," assured Cyborg. "We'll be ready for anything that she'll throw at us."

"Yeah!" seconded Beast Boy. "She always loses against us. Next time won't be any different as long as you have us."

Starfire smiled, but wasn't entirely convinced.

"Thank you, friends," she told them. "But, nothing is certain. We must not become too confident, like my sister is."

"You're right," seconded Robin. "But that doesn't mean you have to obsess over it. Take it from someone who can get a little too obsessive. It can drive you a little crazy, if you know what I mean."

Starfire looked at Robin. It was true. She knew Robin's obsession with Slade corrupted his mind. There was no reason for her to do the same.

Back at the H.I.V.E. base, Gizmo was getting ready to put his plan into action. The rest of the Five were scattered across Jump City. Billy Numerous and his clones were at a dealership. See-More was at the video game store, Kyd Wykkyd was at the bank, while Mammoth was at a Pizzeria. Mammoth was getting impatient, so he dialed up Gizmo through his H.I.V.E. communicator.

"Are you almost ready?" Mammoth asked. "My legs are getting tired."

"Hang on, fatso," retorted Gizmo. "I'm waiting so they're not all in the same place at once."

Gizmo was looking through the security cameras of Titans Tower. He wanted to make sure that wouldn't have a chance the moment his contingency plans were activated. Cyborg was in the garage working on the T-Car. Beast Boy was in his room reading a comic book. Raven was meditating in her room. Starfire was feeding Silkie in her room. Robin was in the evidence room working. Gizmo was ready. He clicked on the contingency plan titled 'CYBORG.' He wanted the Titan he hated the most to suffer first. Cyborg was making the finishing touches to the new upgraded T-Car when suddenly, a wall opened from inside the garage that shot out a metal collar of some sort and clamped around his neck. He suddenly felt a huge zap around his entire body.

"AAHH!" he exclaimed. "What in the-"

But, when he tried to pull the collar off his neck, he couldn't do anything. He checked to see that all his systems were offline, as well as his communicator.

"Guys!" he shouted. "I need help!"

But, it was no use. Robin was confined to the soundproof evidence room, and the other three Titans had been hit with the mysterious collars as well, and none of them could use their powers, or move at all.

"Dude, is this supposed to be some sort of shock collar?" Beast Boy asked frantically.

"What is the meaning of this?" cried Starfire.

"Robin!" yelled Raven.

Back at the Five's base, Gizmo laughed evilly. It was working.

"Alright guys, you're on!" he shouted over his H.I.V.E. communicator.

And with that, the Five began their citywide crimes, knowing Robin would be helpless against them.

Back at Titans Tower, Robin heard the alarm go off. As he rushed to the common room, he saw what the Five were doing on the screen. He noticed that the rest of the Titans weren't next to him as usual.

"Guys, come on! The Five's causing trouble in the City!" he called, but there was no response.

He then heard a cry for help coming from Starfire's room. He quickly ran to see what was wrong, and to his horror, it was one of the inhibitor collars he had in case one of his friends turned evil.

"Robin, help me.." murmured a weakened Star.

Every time she tried to move, the collar responded with an electric shock to her body.

"Oh, no," said a nervous Robin.

He ran all over the Tower and noticed that the rest of the Titans were in inhibitor collars, begging for help. As he made his way back to Starfire's room, he was finding out what could have caused this. Something was very wrong, and he was about to find out who was the cause.

"What the matter, Birdbrain?" said a familiar bratty voice over the Tower speakers. "Did someone spill your biggest secret?"

Robin glared when he heard the voice. He realized that Gizmo had hacked into the Tower's security system.

"What do you want, Gizmo?!" Robin shouted angrily.

"I just wanted to make sure you Teen Twerps won't get in our way anymore," he responded. "And I learned that I could do it from your own tower, and with your own help."

The other Titans listened to Gizmo from the speakers. Was Robin really the reason all of this was going on?

"Robin.." asked Starfire weakly. "Is Gizmo speaking the truth?'

Robin looked at her with a load of guilt spreading over his face. Starfire took that as a confirmation. Why would he do such a thing? They were boyfriend and girlfriend. How could he? Robin glared hard at the speakers. He knew that this was his fault, and now he was going to have to pay the price when the day was over. But, that was the least of his problems now. The Five were robbing stores everywhere, and all of his friends were down. He wouldn't be able to stop them by himself.

"I guess I should thank you, though," added Gizmo. "I couldn't have done this without you. And don't bother looking for the key to those things. Kyd Wykkyd already went through your Tower and gave them to me. Have fun by yourself Birdbrain!"

Gizmo laughed as the speakers turned off, leaving Robin to deal with his mess. Robin was going to need help if he wanted to get out of this, so he decided to call the Titans East.

The Titans East arrived at Titans Tower as quickly as they could, and Robin told them everything that was going on.

"You mean to tell me you had plans to take your friends out, even if they would never go to the other side?!" shouted Bumblebee angrily.

"¡Eso no está bien!" agreed Mas y Menos.

"It's not like I thought they would!" defended Robin as he raised his hands. "But I really need help, and my friends can't right now."

"Well, I guess we still owe you guys for saving us from Brother Blood," noted Speedy. "So, what's the plan?"

"Gizmo's got the key to the collars, and that's the only way we can free the others," Robin explained. "I'll go after him. Think you guys can take care of the rest of the Five?"

"Shouldn't be a problem," replied Aqualad. "We deal with much harder criminals in Steel City than those guys."

"Alright," said Robin. "Let's move!"

The Titans East quickly ran across the city to take on the H.I.V.E. Five, while Robin went to look for Gizmo.

The H.I.V.E. Five were enjoying their Titanfree day of crime. They were taking all the money they could and anything else they wanted, and nobody was stopping them. All of them besides Gizmo regrouped at the Jump City Bank

"Could this be the best day ever?" asked a Billy Numerous clone.

"You bet, Billy!" said another clone. "It can't get any better than this."

"Then maybe you'd like to share some of the fun with us!" said a voice from behind them.

It was the Titans East, all lined up and ready for battle.

"Hey, guys," greeted Bumblebee. "I figured I'd see you guys again at the H.I.V.E. Academy class reunion, but I guess this will have to do."

"Good thing this will be the only time we have to see you again, Bee," retorted Mammoth bitterly.

"Titans, GO!" shouted Bumblebee.

The Five charged for another fight with the Titans, only this time, they were up against the Titans East. Meanwhile, at the Five's base, Gizmo was still laughing at his deeds with the key to the inhibitor collar in his hands.

"Wow!" he chuckled. "That Robin's stupider than he looks! I can't believe I made him look like an idiot!"

Unknown to him however, Robin had traced the location of the hacker from his communicator, and he was able to hack into Gizmo's tower's systems, rendering any weapons within the Tower useless. Robin approached Gizmo from behind as he kept laughing.

"I wouldn't be laughing if I were you," snarled Robin. "You just made your biggest mistake of the year, and now you're going to pay for it."

Gizmo quickly stopped laughing, and turned away from his computer to face the Boy Wonder.

"Ha!" laughed Gizmo. "That was your mistake, slug-face! And you managed to make an even bigger mistake just now."

Gizmo pushed a key on his computer, but nothing happened. He kept pushing it, but still nothing happened.

"I hate to be the breaker of bad news, but your system's been hacked," said Robin.

Gizmo just blinked at the Boy Wonder in shock. He kept pressing a key to fire his Tower's blasters at Robin, but it finally sank into him that his system had been compromised.

"Looks like you just got a taste of your own medicine," Robin told him.

"Too bad you don't have anyone here to help you, Birdbrain," smirked the brat. "It's just you against me."

"Hand over the key, and you won't get hurt!" ordered Robin.

"Ha!" laughed Gizmo. "Like that's going to scare me."

Gizmo turned on his jetpack, and aimed a pair of missiles at Robin, which Robin quickly dodged. Robin threw a pair of birdarangs at the midget, but Gizmo easily avoided them through the air.

Back at downtown Jump City, the rest of the Five were giving the Titans East all that they could handle. Speedy shot his arrows at the many Billy Numerous clones, but he just kept multiplying. Aqualad could barely keep up with Mammoth's strength. See-More was too high from the ground for Mas y Menos to reach. Bumblebee couldn't even touch Kyd Wykkyd.

"This isn't working, Bumblebee!" shouted Aqualad. "We won't beat them one on one!"

"Way ahead of you!" she shouted. "Mas, Menos, bring him over here!"

"Más y Menos, si podemos!" shouted the twins as they ran towards Bumblebee.

See-More kept shooting energy blasts through his eye at the twins, not knowing that Bumblebee had shrunk and snuck behind him. Bumblebee quickly flew to See-More's eye, grew, and zapped it at point blank range. Bumblebee carried a knocked out See-More to the ground. Aqualad still had his hands full with Mammoth, and he was losing strength.

"Speedy, tie him up!" shouted Bumblebee.

Speedy aimed an arrow at Mammoth that released a net that tied Mammoths feet together, causing him to fall on his face. Aqualad quickly delivered a blow to Mammoth's face, leaving him beaten. Bumblebee still couldn't lay a stinger on Kyd Wykkyd, but she suddenly remembered something from her time as a H.I.V.E. spy: Kyd Wykkyd couldn't swim.

"Aqualad!" she shouted. "Spray him with some water!"

Aqualad saw that he was standing right next to the river nearby. That was plenty to bring down Kyd Wykkyd. He summoned a trail of water, and lured it right towards Kyd Wykkyd. Kyd Wykkyd laid on the ground soaked and scared. All that was left was Billy Numerous.

"Billy can't clone himself if he's too tired," shouted Bumblebee. "We have to wear him out!"

"That's all I needed to hear!" shouted Speedy as he aimed an arrow of sleeping gas at the clones.

"Aw man.." murmured a clone. "Billy sleepy."

"Me too, Billy," added another as the clones began to disappear.

The Titans East stood tall and victorious.

"Good job, guys!" said Bumblebee. "All that's left is Gizmo."

"Excellente!" shouted the twins.

"Man, I sure wish Cyborg was here to do his 'Boo-yah'," Speedy said.

"Maybe one of us should come up with a catchphrase," suggested Aqualad.

"Let's move!" shouted Bumblebee. "I've got the coordinates for Gizmo's location."

The Titans East quickly headed for the location, leaving the four criminals tied up for the police.

Back at the Five's headquarters, Robin and Gizmo were still going at it. Robin was trying to land a solid hit on Gizmo, but the snob was so small, it was easy for Robin to miss.

"What's the matter?" mocked Gizmo. "Is the big bad bird scared of a wimpy little kid like me?"

"No," replied Robin. "I was just aiming for the right spot."

Robin quickly threw a smoke bomb so Gizmo couldn't see. As Gizmo coughed with blindness in his eyes, Robin quickly flew into him with a kick to his head, throwing him all the way to the other side of the main room. Robin rushed to Gizmo, removed his weapons from his back, and blew them up with his electric discs. Robin then grabbed the key to the inhibitor collars from Gizmo's pocket.

"It's over, Gizmo!" yelled Robin.

"For me, maybe," grumbled a dazed Gizmo, "But you're the one who's still in trouble."

It was true. He knew his friends wouldn't be happy with him, not even Starfire. All Robin could do was get ready for what was coming to him. Robin carried Gizmo out of the H.I.V.E. Tower and handed Gizmo over to the police. He saw the Titans East running up to him.

"Is the city safe?" Robin asked.

"Clean as a whistle, Rob." responded Speedy.

"Are the rest of the Five down?" Robin asked again.

"All down, and headed for jail," replied Bumblebee proudly as she saw Gizmo being pushed into a police car. "And it looks like you took care of Snotball over there, too."

"Did you get the key to the inhibitor collars?" asked Aqualad.

"Yeah, now let's go! My friends must be really losing it right now!"

The Titans East followed Robin back to Titans Tower where the rest of the Titans were still stuck in the inhibitor collars, powerless, and confined to the ground. Robin grew more nervous as they got closer to the tower. He could only imagine what his friends would say.

As soon as he and the Titans East ran back to Titans Tower, Robin rushed to each of his friends and freed them from their inhibitor collars with the key. Robin quickly got them caught up on everything that had happened in the past few hours and how Gizmo was responsible for all of it. The Titans East were about to board their ship back to Steel City when Robin thanked them for their help. The rest of the Titans joined Robin in seeing the Titans East take off.

"Listen," he told them. "I want to thank you guys for the help today. I wouldn't have been able to save my friends or stop the Five without you. And I'm sorry if I wasted your time today."

"It's no problem, Robin," replied Bumblebee. "But we're not the ones you have to apologize to in case you don't know."

"Yeah, I don't think even Starfire's happy with you," added Speedy.

"Good luck on trying to win back their trust, Robin," Aqualad said as they boarded their ship.

"Hasta la vista, amigos!" shouted Mas y Menos as the blue Titans East ship took off from the roof of Titans Tower on its way back to Steel City.

Once the ship was out of sight, Robin turned to see angry glares from his teammates. Starfire almost had tears pouring from her eyes.

"Why?" she asked Robin softly.

"Star, you know I didn't mean for this to happen," Robin started.

"That's not what she asked, Robin." Raven said sternly.

Robin struggled to find the right words for an answer. He knew there was no dodging this talk.

"Dude," said Beast Boy. "Do you really think we would turn evil after everything we've been through?! After all we've done for you?!"

"I didn't think you guys would turn evil!" Robin raised his arms, defending himself. "I just wanted to be ready for the slim chance that it did happen."

"I'm pretty sure if there was a chance one of us was going to turn evil, we would've known by now," reasoned Cyborg.

"Well, the plans weren't just for you guys turning evil," responded Robin. "They were for in case a Titan falls under mind control. You've seen what guys like Brother Blood, Mad Mod, and Mother Mae-Eye can do to people's minds. My contingency plan would've been useful in that situation."

"Maybe," said Raven. "But that doesn't explain why you couldn't tell us."

"If you guys knew about my contingency plans, you would've found a way around them," answered Robin.

"You don't know how our minds would work under mind control, Robin," said Cyborg. "Each villain has a different way of manipulating minds. People can't think straight under mind control, and they even forget things. That's no excuse."

Robin wanted to argue, but he sensed Cyborg had a point. People could be forgetful under mind control, even if they had a good memory.

"I'm sorry, guys," said Robin solemnly. "I really really am."

"Sorry you did it, or sorry you got caught?" Raven asked him.

"Yeah," said Beast Boy. "Would you be saying sorry if this didn't happen?"

Robin was speechless. He didn't know what to say. He didn't have any way to defend himself. All he could do was look to the ground as the Titans made their way to their rooms. Starfire waited until the others were gone to speak to him again. Robin looked at Star in dread. He knew that it was only going to get worse for him.

"You want to say something to me, Star?" asked Robin nervously.

Starfire stared at Robin in disbelief. Her mind just couldn't process the fact that the one she trusted the most on Earth had a plan to take her down if she went evil and kept her in the dark about it. She took a few seconds to find the right words to use. She didn't want him to take her as a fool, not after today.

"Robin?" she started. "Were you ever going to tell us?"

Robin didn't say a word. He was instantly brought back to the day they all fought the Psions in space and how he found out about Starfire's actions against them. Starfire just had used his own words against him. He realized that he hadn't acted any better than her.

"Do you truly trust me?" she asked him again.

Robin was stunned at that question. Of course he trusted her. Why wouldn't he? They were boyfriend and girlfriend after all.

"Of course I trust you, Starfire," he said. "I don't think we'd be friends if I didn't trust you."

Starfire thought for a second to think. She wasn't satisfied with that response.

"I believe that if you truly trusted me, or our friends, you would not have needed contingency plans," she said.

"The contingency plans don't mean I don't trust you guys," argued Robin.

"Then why did you not have a contingency plan for yourself?" she asked him.

Robin was floored by that response. He had plans in place in case any of them went to the other side, but he didn't have anything planned for him. Robin began to see it in a whole different way. He wasn't being fair to his friends, and he put his own safety before theirs.

"Star-I-I," stuttered Robin.

"Perhaps it is us who must develop a contingency plan for you, in case you were to become evil," she suggested. "If you cannot trust us, then perhaps we cannot trust you."

Tears dropped from Starfire's eyes as she spoke.

"I do not trust you."

That last sentence struck Robin's heart like a sharp knife. Never in a million years could he imagine Starfire saying those words to him.

"Starfire," said Robin in shock. "You don't really mean that, do you?"

"I am being truthful, Robin," she replied. "And I believe it is best if we remain merely friends for now."

"Are you sure?" asked Robin, desperately hoping that she wasn't joking.

"I am afraid so," she responded. "I cannot be more than friends with someone who I cannot trust."

Robin felt like he was on the verge of tears all of sudden. His girlfriend was breaking up with him, and there was no way he could stop her after what happened today.

"I understand, Starfire," he said meekly.

Starfire then turned away from Robin and floated towards her room, with tears still falling from her eyes. She didn't want to break up with him, but she felt as if Robin didn't give her a choice. Friends are supposed to trust each other, and she felt as if Robin didn't trust her like she had hoped. She wondered what else he was hiding from her. She hadn't seen his real eyes before, for one. She didn't even know what his real name was, or any of his family for that matter. Starfire was starting to see Robin in a much different way, and it was not a good way to say the least. She could only hope that this wouldn't last long, and things would be good between them again soon.

As for Robin, he felt as if he may have made the biggest mistake of his life. The price for his contingency plans might've been all too high. Just when he thought he could never do worse to lose his friends' trust than the Red X incident, he ended up doing something that could've killed his friends' trust in him entirely. He was going to have to work to earn their trust back, as well his relationship with Starfire. He may have been the leader of the Titans, but only now did he learn that it didn't mean he was above his friends in terms of trustworthiness. Starting today, he was going to be more open to them, and that was a promise.
