Let's Run Away
and find our destiny together
A small girl at the age of seven, sat on her bed and stared at a bag at 4am. It was an ordinary bag, black with red stitches and zips. It looked quite bulky. In the bag, there was a first aid kit, some non-perishable food, a couple bottles of water and a few sets of clothes.
"It can't really get worse, can it?" she asked no one in particular.
Giving herself an answer, she walked towards the bag, remembering how she was always ignored. How she was always the biggest mistake her father ever made. How her stepmother would scrunch her face up everytime she saw her. How her brothers would get all the attention and treats and gifts, while she was lucky if they remembered her birthday. How the spiders would come for her again tonight, and no one will believe her in the morning. She shuddered at the thought of the last one. All those legs crawling around her and biting into her skin. No. She was doing this right now.
She slung the two straps over her shoulders and opened the window. Carefully placing the first foot through, and then the second, she slipped out.
"Probably won't even know I'm gone for three days." she muttered angrily as she walked down the vacant road, "Even after that, they might just throw a party."
Her family never loved her. Her father had tried to look after her when she was younger, but he didn't know much about raising a child, nor had he wanted to. Later, he married and she met her stepmom. It was hate at first sight. He introduced them to each other at a restaurant. The lady had ignored her for most of the night and when she wasn't ignoring her, she was glaring. She also met her step brothers, though they didn't seem too bad. A bit silly, but still fun. She never knew much about her real mom. She tried springing random questions on her dad and sometimes it worked, others, she'd be locked in her room and told to shut up. So far, she'd gathered that her mom had tutored her dad when he was still in a college or university or something like that. Then one day her mother left her on her father's doorstep and he never saw her again. She thought her mom was a real idiot for not even giving her father a warning, or even asking if he wanted her. If she had at least given her to someone who wanted a child, then maybe she wouldn't be in this situation.
But she was determined to make the most of her time on the road. At least she could be free. She'd never been able to do that. She used to try being that obedient little girl in hopes that her family would accept her, but recently she just stopped. It was tiring and stupid and they still didn't change, so what was the point? At least here, she could be herself. She might even make some friends. She'd never had those before.

Percy had been traveling for about three months now, and he'd made it to this place called Cronocd or something like that. He still couldn't read properly. It was dark, so he was currently looking for an empty trash can or a nice ally with boxes, when he saw something he couldn't look away from. There was girl sleeping against the trash can. She had dirty brown or blonde hair and wore a red shirt with blue pants. She was okay, but what bothered him was the massive dog, or hellhound as his mom called them, creeping up on her. He hated it when the monsters went after the mortals, the ones who weren't demigods, because they couldn't defend themselves. And it always made him look like the bad guy for killing a puppy.
He took out riptide, the blade that had saved his life countless times during his journey, and ran towards the monster, slashing. The hell hound moved away and he missed. He kept slashing until the hell hound had moved into a corner and he threw his sword into the dog's mouth, turning it to dust. He breathed deeply, glad he hadn't gotten hurt this time. Last time he tried this, the hellhound's claws scratched his arm badly before he could kill it. Luckily there was a gas station nearby, so he just used the water from the bathroom to heal it.
"That was really dumb."
Oh, the girl. He turned around slowly, picking up his sword and turning it back into a pen as he spun. He quickly pocketed it, hoping the mist would work fast.
"You shouldn't throw your weapon like that. If you missed then you'd be weaponless and we'd both be dead."
Now that she was standing, he could see the backpack on her shoulders and the hammer in her hand. She looked about his age.
Then what she said caught up with him.
"Wait, you saw the hellhound?" he asked. No one else he'd met had been able to see it. Maybe she was a demigod too.
"If you mean the big dog with glowing red eyes, then yes, I saw the hellhound," she rolled her eyes, "Guess we have the same type of sight."
Sight?
"Are you a demigod?"
"... You mean like the half god, half human, right?"
"Yeah... Do you know both your birth parents?"
"... What?" she started backing away.
She was the only other demigod he'd met, he couldn't have her running away. Then he'd be alone again.
"Look, I don't know all the details but the Greek gods are real," way to tell her gently, "I'm a son of Poseidon. My mom died when I was four and my step-dad is an ass. So I ran away. Guessing you did too."
"Well, yeah. I guess... I never knew my real mom. My dad said I was left on the front step. He did always say I would bring monsters to the house..."
"That's your scent. It's a smell the monsters track us by. Other mortals don't have it-"
"Mortals?"
"People without magic and stuff."
She looked at me for a minute, then snorted, "And stuff?"
I let out a small laugh too, as the tension dissolved.
"Considering I've had spiders attack me on a schedule, I just saw you make a pen a sword and back and the fact that you killed an over grown dog with glowing eyes, I believe you."
Cool. At least now he has someone to talk too.
Hope it's okay. I redid the dialogue about ten times and it still doesn't sound right, but I don't know what else to do *shrug*
Please review ;D
PS: The actual place is Concord, just dyslexia and all... 3
