The Path of the Ancient Guard.
Of the Account of Iren, the Prince of the Ancient Guard.
Dictated by himself and his Love, Kera.
The path of the Ancient Guard is not easily found. Those who would die to protect those whom they guard tread it. When a Guard and a Guarded meet, a bond is made between them, which is greater than love. The Guard has made a vow, that if the need arises, he would give his life in order to protect the Guarded. If the Guard does not guard the Guarded well, and the Guarded dies, then a part of the Guard dies with her. Many of the Ancient Guard would fall in love with their Guarded, which is forbidden by the Code of the Elders. The punishment of it is that the Guard losses his place as an Ancient Guard, and he is banned from the Realm of Ulandia, on pain of death.
The Ancient Guard is an assembly that was created in the year Fifteen-one hundred. The reason that The Guard was created, was that during the Great Orc Rebellion, many key leaders of the Elf throne and Council were captured and put to death. The first member of the Council that was captured and put to death was my younger sister, Keria. Well known in the Elven government, all rules in the Council are female, all but the Prince Iren, who had talked the Elders into letting him join it. Since female Elfs play a great rule in the Elven government, the Queen ordained a group of elite soldiers to become the Ancient Guard.
The Code of the Elders is an assemblage of rules laid down by the Elders of Ulandia after the creation of the Ancient Guard. Each Elder met in the Council meeting area, and came up with a set of guidelines for the Ancient Guard to follow. The Code of the Elders is as written: 1. I, as an Ancient Guard, shall not fall in love with my Guarded or I shall acknowledge that through the violation of this rule, I shall be banished from the Realm of Ulandia, on pain of death. 2. I, as an Ancient Guard, shall uphold to the law of the Realm of Ulandia, and will always follow the way of the Leader of the Woods, unless it abides against the Law of the Lord set down after the finding of the Realm of Ulandia. If I do not abide by this rule, then I acknowledge that I shall be banished from the Realm of Ulandia, on pain of death. 3. I, as an Ancient Guard, shall not use my authority for self-gain. In doing said offense, I acknowledge that, I shall be banished from the Realm of Ulandia, on pain of death. 4. I, as an Ancient Guard, shall protect my Guarded until death takes her or I. If my Guarded shall die before me, then I acknowledge that the least payment of this offense would be banishment on pain of death, and the greatest payment of this offense is of death. 5. I, as an Ancient Guard, acknowledge that if I do not abide by any of these rules, then I shall be banished from the Realm of Ulandia on pain of death, or I shall be put to death. Of which the Council would decide the sentence.
The Ancient Guard is made up of ten of the Elven Army's best soldiers. The Ancient Guard was mainly a group of veteran generals from the army. The youngest of the Ancient Guard is the Prince Iren. When he came forward to the Queen, for her to anoint him, he was much frowned on by the Council. After the ceremony, as Iren arose, the Queen smote him across the face, and banished him from ever returning to the Realm of Ulandia. Leaving the land he grew so accustomed to, Iren began a quest to search for any outcasts from Ulandia. Secretly becoming an Ambassador of the Queen, Iren traveled Aer in search of allies for Her Majesty. During the every full moon, Iren would sneak back into Ulandia and tell me of his many adventures.
