Chapter 2- What's going on?

It was dark. Gloomy even. As the woman looked round, all she could see was darkness. She leant over and switched on the lamp, wincing as the strong, artificial light came flooding on, hurting her eyes.

Cass was in turmoil. Four months ago, she had to stage her death to the world because of death threats from one of the suspects in the Matthew Walsh case, Ram Sidhu. He threatened that if he was ever accused or implicated as a suspect, she will be killed before she even knew what hit her or if she wasn't killed, Sunny would be and she would have been made to watch. No, that wouldn't happen. She wouldn't let it happen, not to him, the man she loves.

Yes, what Cass wrote in that letter to Sunny was true. Cass loves Sunny, she will admit that. Hell, it had taken her long enough to even admit it to herself, let alone to write in a letter! Cass knew she had to do what she did, even if it did destroy the people she loves.

But all of that nearly came to a screeching halt two months ago when her Dad discovered that Cassie was indeed still alive.

Her Dad stood slack-jawed at his daughter who was standing, alive, in front of him.

"HOW?!…" he gasped in shock. "You died! I saw you!" Martin was in shock. What the hell is going on?!

"Dad, for what it's worth, I'm sorry but you weren't meant to know." Cass started to say. "I only did this…"

"WEREN'T MEANT TO KNOW?! I'M YOUR FUCKING FATHER CASSIE! I HAD THE DAMN RIGHT TO KNOW!" Martin screamed at Cass. Martin sank into an armchair and dragged a hand down his weathered face in agony. He looked back up at Cass and sighed. "Why?"

Cass sat down next to Martin. "I had to Dad. When I was working on the Walsh case, I was threatened by a suspect named Ram Sidhu. Long story short, if he was ever accused…" Cass had to stop. If she carried on, she would start to bawl and she hadn't cried in front of her dad since she was a litle girl! But she knew she had to carry on. "If he was ever accused, then either I would die or Sunny would die and I would be forced to watch. Now, it seems like he's won because he's free and I'm a prisoner to protect the man I love."

Tears were slowly pouring down Cassie's cheeks. Sniffling quietly, she brushed them away as the doorbell rang. She got up to answer it thinking it was just another door-to-door salesman, looking to annoy her. As she answered the door, there stood her old boss and John.

"What's going on?"

"It's time to come home Cass. Ram Sidhu is dead."
