Author's Note: So I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment. I haven't exactly started to study for my exams yet which is a potential issue, but I guess you guys will benefit for my lack of studying. I think that's all for now. Per usual…

**Recap**
Lara's POV
Shit. I could see it on his face from the moment I spoke. Scorpius had never been too open with his past, but that doesn't mean he needed to be snarky about it. He needs to lighten up and take it with a stride.
We all had a rough childhood, being the grandchildren (and children in some cases) of death eaters we have all seen the vile behavior and horrible punishment.
"Lara Jeanette Goyal, how dare you befriend that blood traitor scum. It appears you don't understand our place in society."
He took the cigar he had lit up just a few minutes before, "We are Purebloods." He grabbed my arm using the cigar to make a crisp circle on her arm. "We do not associate with muggles," he pressed the cigar to my arm again, "mudbloods," and again, "or blood traitors," as he branded my arm a fourth time.
Looking at my arm, I could still see the crisp clean outline of four circles. My grandfather had been just as cruel as Lucius. Scorpius and I had that in common. We were both covered in scars from the past both physical and emotional. I know I shouldn't have bombarded Scorpius with bad memories. I'd have reacted to just the same had be brought up my past.

Slughorn's POV
Ahhh. The first morning of a new term, nothing better than seeing their bright young faces, first years filled with a mixture of excitement and fear, seventh years lazily strolling into the Great Hall for their final first day, fifth years already contemplating OWLS.
It must have been fifty years or so since I first graced the halls of Hogwarts, the threat of war never looming over us, the burdens of our families' pasts nonexistent. Times were much simpler then.
"Hi, I'm Horace and I'm a wizard." He looked at me as if I had grown a second head before giving me a sly smile.
"Mate, we are all wizards and witches her, well except Filch, he's a squib, but he's only here because his mum, she teaches herbology here. I'm Orion. What house do you expect you'll be in? Me, I'll be a Slytherin. All of the Black's are Slytherin's. It's tradition."
Reminiscing about friends long gone had always been a favorite past time for Horace. It saddened him thinking about how many of them had been lost to the war or had passed too soon. He often thought about what it would be like if they were still around.

Lily's POV
Slughorn gave me me a slight smile as he handed me my timetable. Scor peeped over my shoulder to look at my schedule for the day. "I start with Transfiguration so I can walk you to Charms if you'd like."
"That would be really great Scor. I never imagined Hogwarts would be quite so… large."
With a slight chuckle Scor spoke again, "If you'd like I can give you the grand tour after Dinner tonight. Show you all the nooks and crannies the teachers don't show you."
"That would be wonderful, I honestly don't know how I'm going to manage finding my way around."
Lily shoved the last bite of pancakes into her mouth with about as much class as a hungry Hypogryff before giving Scor a pleading look.
"You're done already! I haven't even managed to finish my tea!"
With a shy smile and a giggle Lily boisterously replied, "I'm half Weasley you know." Shaking his head, slurping down his tea, and shoving a blueberry muffin into the pocket of his robes Scorpius carefully took her hand and lead her away from the Slytherin table and into the corridor to Charms.
"Okay, Lily, I'll meet you in the Great Hall for Dinner. There shouldn't be too much homework tonight so we should have plenty of time before curfew. Anything else before I go?"
"Nope! See ya later Scorp."
Taking the seat closest to the door Lily found herself engrossed in Charms it was fascinating and it seemed she understood it too. The period seemed to fly by and soon she found it was time for transfiguration with Gryffindor.
—Hugo's POV
Walking into Transfiguration, I saw a glimmer of red hair from across the room. Lily. I moved to sit next to her but before she noticed I quickly sat down with Frank Longbottom. Hugo Weasley, you are such a goddamn coward.
"Come on Hugo, just a little higher. You can see all of Godric's Hollow from here!" The fiery redhead said from far above him in the tree.
"It's okay. I can see the kitchen from here, that's enough for me. Aunt Ginny is making pumpkin tarts!"
"You are such a spoil sport Hughy. It's not scary I promise." She held the last word. Promise.
She had promised we'd be in Gryffindor together too.

Scorpius's POV
Sitting in Defense all I could think about was Lily. Her eyes, her hair, her. She consumed my every waking thought. As I spaced off thinking about Lily, I looked down at my parchment at all the little notes I had written throughout the morning. They had all been written with Lily on the brain wondering what Lily was doing or if she had been thinking about him too.
Silently pulling his want out of his robe he grabbed a small piece of spare parchment and whispered a few incantations. Taking his quill he hoped it would work as he frantically scribbled his message onto the parchment and tapped it once with his wand.
Lily, The first day is always so boring so I thought I ought to see how you were getting along. If you wish to reply simply write back and tap the parchment once with your wand. It's a little like a Muggle 'text message'. S
The parchment disappeared and he hoped it ended in the right hands.

Lily's POV
Looking down at my gargling stomach, I saw a slip of parchment on the corner of my desk with the same messy writing that had been on the letter I saw in the common room this morning. Hiding the note on my lap I smiled realizing he had been thinking about how I was doing. Looking through my bag for a quill, my stomach grumbled again with hope of lunch.
Scor, you HAVE to teach me this spell! I really like Charms (it seems rather easy), Transfiguration is rather bland though. The only exciting thing Auntie Minnie has shown us so far was her animagus form. (It was wicked but nothing I hadn't seen before). What classes have you had?
Auntie Minnie gave me a suspicious look as I tapped the parchment once with my wand but she didn't do much about it. Transfiguration dragged on for another fifteen minutes or so before a short break. Looking a few rows ahead I saw the unruly tuff of red hair belonging to Hugo and longed for my best friend.
"Come on Hughy we want to get back before Dinner. Grandma Weasley is making dinner and you know it's going to be good."
"Slowdown, Lil! You are going to fall off your broom!"
"You just don't think you could beat me back to the Burrow. Just try to catch me Hughy!" As Hugo sped up, his hands started shaking and he lost control of his broom falling about seven feet to the garden below.
Without thinking, Lily had landed next to Hugo who had passed out on impact trying to put him onto her broom to get him back to Auntie Hermione, she would know what to do, she always knew what to do. Unable to get Hugo on her broom, she sat with him waiting until their family came looking for the duo.

Author's Note: Okay so I'm really proud of myself right now because I wrote a pretty long chapter and I did it within a reasonable time frame (what a concept). Anyways! Thanks for reading.
