Summary: In the world of InFamous, Cole MacGrath gave his life to save 90% of life on earth. This doesn't go unnoticed by one of the Lords of his elemental gift who needs a champion. What will happen when Cole McGrath meets Virgil Hawkins? Let's see…

Disclaimer: I don't own InFamous or Static Shock, neither do I have their gifts, sadly.

A/N: This story will have moderate to heavy religious elements. To those who don't like that this story might not be for you. The bridge I chose for this crossover is the Yoruba Mythology. Though admittedly I am not a follower, just an interested observer also the Orisha I chose seemed logical. Hope you all enjoy!

As Cole MacGrath charged the RFI, (Ray Field Inhibitor), one last time, he looked back over his life. From his time learning parkour with Zeke in New Marais, going to college and dating Trish. The events of Empire City that changed the world, and ending up back here in New Marias. It had been a long road, with bumps the size of mountains and pitfalls the size of the Grand Canyon, but it had been a good life over all. As Cole felt the RFI surge again, feasting on his energy, he couldn't help but think dying wouldn't be so bad. He would get to see Trish again. He could only hope that his last action was judged worthy and forgiven for the lives it would cost.

When he had triggered the Ray Sphere, he didn't know what was going to happen or even intend to trigger it. The deaths that explosion caused could be laid at the feet of Kessler, an alternate version of what he could have been. Cole knew though, he had made an impossible decision. Charge the RFI and in so doing kill the Beast and most active and potential Conduits or let the plague spread, the Beast live, and doom all non-Conduits on the planet. The lives of thousands verses the lives of billions; in theory its an easy decision, in action the weight of choice is crushing and there is no real right answer.

As the RFI finished charging, a bolt of lightning struck Cole. The device triggered and the surge of energy it produced surged outwards then upwards through the atmosphere. Affecting the entire planet, killing most Conduits and potential Conduits on different countries and continents. Though thousands died, the rest of the populace were saved, as the RFI was able to eliminate the plague, saving those critically affected by the plague.

Cole sensed all of this happening from outside his body before all that he knew shifted. In the blink of an eye, Cole went from New Marais to a place made up entirely of energy and lightning. He could see thunderclouds on the horizon flashing with every color of lightning known. As Cole took in his surroundings an imposing figure approached him. The man appeared to be of African descent, dark skin and black hair; his eyes, clothes and the way he carried himself though told Cole he shouldn't let his guard down. His eyes shined with energy, his clothes a mix of red and gold with his chest and stomach bare to show his muscles. He carried himself as a king in his throne room.

Cole felt threatened and took his usual stance for fighting before attempting to charge up. To his surprise and concern he couldn't. The figure raised an eye at this. Then he smirked before letting out a thunderous, booming, laugh that shook the air around them. "Hahaha, welcome Cole MacGrath. I see death couldn't steal your fire and spark. Welcome, to the realm of Lightning!"

Cole didn't know what to think. After his ears stopped ringing, he changed his stance to a loose ready; he may not have been able to charge, but he wouldn't let his guard down. He had been through too much to forget that lesson. With as much calm and tact as Cole could manage, though some would have claimed Hell had frozen had they heard him, asked "Who are you, how did I get here and why are my powers not working? Last thing I remember is passing out after charging the RFI to stop a monster."

Chuckling, the figure answered. "I am called many names, though originally I was known as Shango, I was once the third Alaafin of the Oyo empire. I am the Orisha of Lightning and Fire for the Yoruba Pantheon. You are here because you were born with my gift sleeping within you. It was awoken in Empire City and you gave your life to save many, I also have need of you. As to why 'your powers' not working, we are in the Realm from which it comes, where the very air is supercharged with electrical power; do you really think you would be able to command the realm you are a visitor of?"

Whatever Cole had d been expecting, it hadn't been that. He was basically in the presence of a God, in their Realm, and he had taken an offensive stance against them. He could just see Zeke laughing at him and Trish shaking her head. Thinking of Trish frustrated him that he wasn't with her. "What do you need of me? The last thing I thought of before dying was finally being reunited with Trish."

"The son of one of my daughters will soon awaken his gift and she has asked he be helped. His name is Virgil Hawkins of Dakota City, attending High school and trying hard to avoid the gang violence ensnaring the youths of the City. His mother was killed in the crossfire of a gang war when he was 9. He is being targeted by two factions and will be forced to choose between joining one or making both his enemies. Much like you, his powers will be awoken in an explosion, though he will not be the only one to awaken. Members among both gangs have the potential to survive and awaken gifts. I will send you to him to aid in him; do this and you shall be rewarded." When he finished speaking, he held up his left hand to reveal the image of Trish, his girlfriend before everything had gone crazy and she had been killed by Kessler.

"Do as I asked Cole MacGrath and I shall work with my brother Orisha to return her to you in Dakota City. Teach him what it is to be my descendent and aid him as he uses his powers to protect his home and those that call his city home. You shall have access to all that you knew before coming here, teach him what you can and you shall have my blessings and what you desire most. Do we have a deal?"

Cole found it hard to not say yes right off the bat; he would have his powers in a new world, he would be able to save more lives, and he would get Trish back. The only thing that held him back was that it all sounded too good to be true. To say yes would mean going back to the endless fighting he had had to endure for the last year. He had just given his life to save the world, wasn't that enough? While he debated, he witnessed two bolts of lightning he knew well clash and come together to make a bolt of purple lightning. Cole sighed before nodding.

Seeing Cole's acceptance of his offer, Shango grinned and brought out his O'shea, a double-headed battle axe, and willed the conjoined bolt that had made Cole accept into it, making it glow. He then passed the axe to Cole, who immediately began to spark in the three colors of the bolt. When the sparks subsided, he looked down at the axe in reverence, then bowed to Shango.

"Thank you for accepting, Cole MacGrath. I can't tell you how grateful I am that you'll help my son." A new voice spoke from behind Shango. The speaker was a woman that was flickering between two outfits; one was an emergency service workers blue medic uniform, the other was what Cole could only assume was a dress of her native people. "My name is Jane Hawkins, and Virgil is my son. With your help, I'm sure he will grow into a fine young man, one who Father would be proud to call his grandson." She looked to Shango for a moment before, after he had nodded, she passed Cole the necklace that was around her neck.

"When you make contact with my son, he will most likely have trouble believing you; he can be quite stubborn some times. Give him this necklace and tell him I said 'If you want proof, wear this to bed', it will allow me to visit him in his dreams. Good luck, Cole, I'm sure you will not fail." Jane said before returning behind her Father and disappearing.

"Two questions if I may. How am I getting to Dakota City from here and how am I going to hide this axe, I doubt the cops are just going to let me walk around with it?" Cole asked.

Shango seemed to think on that for a moment before he shot a spark of electricity from his hand to the axe, causing it to shrink and change form. When it was done changing it was the size and shape of a pocket knife; on one side of the pocket knife there was a design matching the axe it had been, on the other was the twin bolts combining into a single bolt. "There we are, that should help you carry it around without anyone saying anything; when you need it simply send your power into it, to return it to its hidden form drain the power from the axe. If it ever gets taken from you against your will, it will give the thief a strong shock before returning to your pocket in knife form. When you think he is ready, or has great need, you may pass the axe to Virgil, it will boost his powers and control, but leave him drained afterwards. The Dakota City museum currently has an exhibit featuring Yoruba mythology, I will be able to send you there. Most deities can affect things around their shrines to some degree, why do you think you mortals always prey at them." Shango said, before clapping his hands and shot Cole with lightning. When he stopped, Cole MacGrath was gone, leaving only the smell of ozone behind. "Good luck, Cole MacGrath, you will need it." Then he faded once more into his Realm.

In Dakota City, late at night, a lightning storm raged. Lightning struck the museum multiple times, causing all the cameras to malfunction and the lights to flicker. In the exhibit featuring African history, some of the models began to glow and spark with energy. When the next bolt of lightning hit the museum, the exhibit flashed a blinding white and a man appeared, smoldering and smelling of ozone. He glared at the small wooden model holding an O'shea replica, then sighed.

"Well, better start by finding a way out of here and someplace to crash. I've got a lot of work to do and it seems I have to start with nothing but what I have on me." Cole MacGrath said to himself, before heading towards the exit of the exhibit.

As he left the museum, the storm moved away from it, heading to several areas of the city. As he watched, he saw lightning strike several buildings before a flash of purple lightning flashed over one of the neighborhoods. Cole saw this and smirked…

A/N

And there we are, Cole MacGrath is in Dakota City, nobody has any idea what just got sent their way!

This story starts roughly a month before the first episode of the Series, I figured I'd give Cole a bit of time to set up. I'll try to split my time between this story and my Harry Potter story, Fawkes' Gift, so it might be a bit till the next chapter. Thank you all for taking this adventure with me. Hope you all enjoy, follow, and review.

See you next time…
