Emily and the team were on their way back to DC from their latest case in South Beach Florida. Emily's mood drastically changed when JJ ran out of the bulletin after will. During the plane ride home Emily was quiet and Spencer and Derek were throwing her a few concerned glances. It didn't take a team of profiles to see that Emily had been heart broken even if it was her choice to tell JJ she should go after him. What Emily was trying to do was see if JJ was going to choose her or Will and she made her choice. She chose him. The New Orleans detective with a southern accent. Emily wanted to roll her eyes. When the plane landed and everyone went up to their desks no one really wanted to stay late to do paperwork. Hotch let them leave their paperwork for the next day and told them they could leave. No one needed to be told twice. Morgan walked up to Emily as she was getting her stuff together.

"Hey princess, wanna grab a drink?" He asked her.

Emily sighed.

"You know, I'm just not really in the mood." Emily tried turning it down.

He looked around to see they were the last one's there.

"Oh come on prentiss, everyone knows the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else" Morgan says suggestively raising his eyebrows.

"No offence but you're not really my type" Emily says chuckling at his antics

"I know or else how could you resist all of this?" Morgan says pointing at himself laughing

Emily heartily laughed out.

"Alright fine, one drink" Emily tells him, holding up one finger to show she's serious.

They head out to one of the dive bars that's not too far from their office. Emily found them a table while Derek went to grab them drinks. He came back with two beers. Emily raised her eyebrow at him.

"What?" Derek asked.

Emily shook her head.

"Nothing, just thought you'd go for something a little stronger" Emily tells him while taking a drink.

"Nah, I don't need to get you drunk to get you to confess to whatever is going on with you and JJ." Derek confidently states.

Emily rolled her eyes at him.

"Apparently nothing, didn't you see the show of her running into detective southern accents arms" Emily grumbles while taking another drink.

Derek lightly laughs at her.

"What I saw was a green eyed monster desperately trying not to come out of you. It's been a year since they got together? Did you know about him or was he a side piece?" Derek asked.

"It started after the Tobis Hankle case, I just wanted to comfort her, you know, be a friend" Emily starts to explain.

"Okay, then what happened?" Derek asks

"It started out small, we would get dinner, drinks after a long day or a hard case." Emily took a breath. " Then after the case with my mom we started to burn off excess tension with the hard cases. I guess I just assumed if it ever got serious between us she would choose him or me. I got my answer today. She chose him and not me. It's not like we were in a relationship but I think I talked myself into thinking it was okay that she had both of us because it wasn't serious we were just scratching an itch but" Emily let out a deep sigh

"But you fell in love with her" Derek finished for her.

Emily nodded looking at the beer bottle in her hands she was tentatively playing with. Derek saw her crestfallen look.

"Hey, I'm sorry she didn't choose you but it's her that's missing out. I'm sure we can find you one of these fine ladies to come home with, huh" Derek says trying to cheer her up flashing his pearly whites at her.

Derek looks around the dimly lit bar and sees a tall blonde looking there way. He flashed her a smile and waved.

"Em, there's a pretty blonde looking our way she's on her way over" Derek says enthusiastically smiling.

"Oh Morgan, I think I'm just going to stay away from blonde's from now on" Emily mussed back at his excited look.

"Oh, that's too bad Prentiss because I came over here for you not your friend" The cool voice coming up from behind her states.

Emily's eyes widened and Derek looked mildly confused on how this woman knew Emily. Emily turned her head around at the voice.

"Alex!?" Emily says surprise evident in her voice.

Alex Cabot gave her old friend a wide grin.

"Hey, Em long time" Alex softly jokes.

"I'll say it's been five years? I'm sorry I didn't come see you when you got back to the city." Emily tells her, getting up to hug her.

"It's fine really, that first year I wasn't really doing so great." Alex flippingly says brushing off Emily's apology.

"Oh that's a story I have to hear" Emily tells her teasing.

Alex rolled her eyes playfully.

"Um excuse me, Hi remember me your best friend" Derek says to the women getting their attention.

Emily's smile slightly falls when she remembers Derek's with her. She clears her throat.

"Right, Alex this is Derek Morgan he's one of the profilers I work with, Derek this is Alex Cabot we met in college, she went to Harvard while I was at Yale" Emily introduces them.

"Well how does that work, one's in Boston and the other is in Connecticut" Derek musses confused.

"Our parents know each other, same social circles" Alex tells him.

Derek just nods, not fully understanding but going with it.

"Nice to meet you miss Alex" Derek tells her flirty like smiling her way extending his hand.

"You too Derek" Alex politely smiles back shaking his hand.

Emily holds back a smirk.

"You look like you need another drink" Alex tells them.

This time Derek smiles widely, taking an opportunity to get Emily to drink more.

"We sure do" Derek says back, answering for both of them.

Emily sends Derek a glare but not one that does anything but make Derek grin in triumph.

"Fine, but only if you tell me more about the first year back you had" Emily says pointing at Alex.

"Absolutely, what do you guys want?" Alex asked.

"Would you look at the time, princess I have to go but you stay have a drink" Derek says standing not being very subtle.

"Derek" Emily says but he cuts her off.

"See ya tomorrow " Derek says walking out the bar leaving her and Alex alone.

Alex lifts her eyebrow in amusement.

"Princess?" She asks Emily.

"He has nicknames for everyone" Emily tells her, smiling shyly back.

"Hmm, okay princess, what do you want?" Alex questioned seductively

Emily's throat clicked suddenly dry.

"Well, I know I have better alcohol back at my apartment if you'd like to go back there instead of this bar?" Emily hastily asks her back.

"Oh, absolutely. For the alcohol of course" Alex purrs back.

"Of course" Emily grins back playing along.

They left without a second thought of what the morning would bring.
