Chapter Fourteen

Johnny landed in an isolated area near to the house that Jack shared with his mother. He'd seen flashing blue lights while he was flying, but he didn't once think it could have anything to do with Jack.

As he rounded the corner to the house, he saw Tony, the Head of the Fire Department. This struck him as odd, as there were no signs of fire anywhere, 'What the hell is going on?' Johnny thought to himself as Tony approached him.

"Wow, that was fast!" he said to Johnny as he approached him.

The Human Torch squinted, "What?" he asked.

"I just called you guys," Tony explained, gesturing for Johnny to follow him. Tony lead him to a group of smartly dressed men, "These are the agents involved in the bomb enquiry," he explained. "This is Johnny Storm, the representative Reed Richards sent on behalf of the Fantastic Five," he said introducing the Human Torch to the agents. "Funny though, I could have sworn Reed said he would be coming himself…"

The agents stared at Johnny, "Hold up man," he said. "What's going on?"

Tony stared at him, "Reed didn't explain to you?" As if on cue, a yellow bus cab pulled up and out came Reed and Ben. "Reed, Ben," he greeted them.

Both men nodded, and then looked at Johnny, "What are you doing here?" they asked him simultaneously.

"I was going to ask you guys the same thing," the young make replied. "What the hell is going on?" he asked. "And don't say 'nothing', 'cos this does soooo not look like 'nothing,'" Johnny paused looking around. Then his eyes settled on another group of people, "Why are there coroners here?" he asked.

Reed looked at Ben, who returned his gaze, "Excuse us," Reed said to Tony, and pulled Johnny aside. "Why are you here?" he asked.

Johnny swallowed, "I heard you guys talking about Jack's dad, I wanted to come and see if he knew anything about what his dad was up to," he confessed. "Not to cause trouble, just talk…" he said in case they thought something else. "What's happened, and why is Tony here? There's no fire!" he pointed out.

Reed cleared his throat, "Tony is an undercover FBI agent," he explained in a hushed voice. "A few months ago something went down, and threats were made to the world. People were drilling into the Earth's crust and planting explosives, trying to bring on the Armageddon," he paused giving Johnny some time to let the first half of the story sink in. "These people, they have been meeting up, and agreeing on a date to bring on the end. They believe the world is too corrupted, and that it is time to rid the world of all evil… the only way to do that is to…"

Johnny cut him off, "Extinctionise everyone." Reed and Ben nodded, had the circumstances been different, they both would have laughed at his made up word-but the circumstances hadn't been, no laughter came. "So what's happened just now?" Johnny asked,

Reed swallowed, "Jack's killed himself," he said.

"What!"Johnny's eyes widened, the same time his face went pale, the same time his stomach crunched.

Ben nodded, "He's left a letter addressed to the Fantastic Five," he explained. "Normally the FBI would have read it, but they want us to read it first," he said.

Johnny nodded - he had a knot forming in his large intestine - it was his turn to clear his throat, "What about Maria?" he asked, feeling tears sting his eyes at the thought of what she must be going through right now. He should be with her.

Reed looked at Ben, "We haven't told her, or Sue. They're still playing make up at the Baxter building," he said. "We want to know what the note says first."

Johnny nodded, "Ok," he said. "Shall we?" he gestured to the waiting men. The other two heroes nodded, and the three proceeded to the group of waiting men.

A/n My milk plan backfired, because some idiot took the blame, when he had nothing to do with it. I got pissed, so I killed Jack... or rather he killed himself...
