CHAPTER 2: FOUND!

Sam had managed to stay out of sight pretty well. With the protection of the feds behind him, he and Gertie were able to avoid being spotted by the Scorpion's men. They were being held at a motel on the outskirts of Sparkyville. So when Sam decided to let his guard down for one day, that's when the feds plans went sideways.

Sam decided to go out to eat and relax for a bit. Gertie stayed at the hotel. Sam had went to a restaurant to get a steak and baked potato. As Sam enjoyed his meal, little did he know that some of the Scorpion's men were watching him from across the room. One of them called their boss.

"He's here at Ronnie's, boss," said the goon.

"Don't do anything in the restaurant," said the Scorpion over the phone. "Wait until he leaves before you do anything. Keep a close watch to him, though. And make sure you pay for your meal before he does."

"You got it, boss." And he hung up the phone. The men waited for their server to come back with the bill. They went outside to their car to wait for Sam to leave. After a while Sam exited Ronnie's and was walking back towards the hotel. The henchmen decided to follow him to where he was staying at. When they got to the motel Sam and Gertie was staying at, they got back on the phone with the Scorpion.

"We know where he's staying, boss," said the henchman. "It's at the Golden Kangaroo."

"Why does that place sound familiar?" wondered the Scorpion.

"That's where that kid who was abducted by his uncle was last year."

"That's right! It was all over the news. Sparkyville police and Hennepin County police got involved."

"Well it looks like Sam and his little girl is staying here." They spotted FBI agents making a beeline towards Sam's room.

"Hold on, boss," said the hood. "I think the feds just walked up and entered his room."

"Okay, stay back, but stay close!" ordered the Scorpion. "When they leave, make your move!"

"We got it, boss."

Inside Sam's room, Agent Hanks was laying into Sam for going out alone. He yelled, "What the hell were you thinking, Sam?! You're just asking to be captured by the Scorpion and his gang!"

"I jus' got bored stayin' in heh, Hanks," said Sam. "I needed some fresh air. Y' see Goitie is still heh."

"Well you may have just lead the Scorpion's men to your hideout, Sam," said Agent Boyd. "We may have to move you and Gertie to another location after this."

"Your carelessness may have killed you AND your daughter!" fumed Hanks. "You better PRAY the Scorpion's goons didn't follow you back here!" And the agents looked from behind the curtain. They didn't see anyone. The Scorpion's men had just exited their vehicle and went to the motel desk to get a room.

"So, how many nights are you staying?" said the perky clerk behind the desk.

"For at least a couple of nights, miss," said henchman 1.

"Okay, here are your key cards," said the clerk. "Have a good evening." And the men went to their rooms. They were a few doors down from Sam's room, which worked out perfect for them. When the agents left, then they would make their move.
