People exclaimed in joy as they received their grimoire, my hands out waiting for my own... and it came.
In a brilliant display of crimson light a Grimoire came down to me, the cover hidden in swirl of red light as my hands closed on it. Before the light exploded out and closed back in revealing the cover, a red leather bound tome with rough corners and subtle edge worw seeming to have worn away with time... but in the center there was no clover, instead there was a different symbol, a barbed half circle at the bottom with a point sticking down with two horizontal lines under a trident head with inward barbs.
"It's beautiful..." I said as I ran my hand over the cover before a blazing golden light filled the room with gasps of surprise right next to me. I put up a arm to block the light as I looked at Yuno. His Grimoire was flawless, no wear or tear, and in the center...
"It can't be... a four leaf Clover." One of the Nobles said in surprise.
Yuno looked at the book before giving a smile. "I will become the Wizard King." He announced.
"Simply wonderful!" The old Wizard called out as people cheered before another familiar voice hit me.
"Um... where's my grimoire?" Asta asked still with his hands outstretched and my heart dropped out of my chest.
"Asta... no." I said softly.
Chapter 3: Theif and True Powers
I held my grimoire close to my chest as I looked at Asta, in his torn clothes, head band still on one knee as he waited.
"Even the freak got a Grimoire." I glared at the nobles. "Oh looks like she heard me." He waved, that smug look on his face.
"Try again next year?" The old wizard suggested as I walked over to Asta, but before I could reach him he jumped up and pointed at Yuno.
"This isn't over Yuno! I will become the Wizard King, even without a Grimoire!" He shouted. "I am your rival!"
'Asta...' I watched on as Yuno walked past him.
"No. You won't." He disregarded him as the building started to empty.
And I had it. My magic leaped from my body as I glared at Yuno the winds picking up as people had to hold onto each other. "Yuno." I said coldly as lightning sparked in my closed fists.
"What... is this power?" A onlooker asked as he clutched his Grimoire.
"Helen..." He said as he stood over.
I took in a breath as I released my power. "What happened to you?" I walked past him to Asta. "Come on Asta, let's go home." I pulled him to his feet. He shoved me away and ran out the building, I knew where he was going. I sighed as I held my grimoire with my tail.
"Let's go home. We have to celebrate Yuno's…" Father started before I walked away from him. "Helen, are you not coming?"
"I have to train for the magic Knight's Exam, and make sure Asta passes as well." I glared back at, "Have your little Yuno party without me." I walked out the building gritting my teeth frustrated as I ran into the woods.
A hand landed on my shoulder, "Sister Lily. I've made up my mind."
"Who's Lily?" a cold voice asked as a chain wrapped around my neck. "It's no use struggling, my chains cut of magic and good thing I did, you have a lot of it. You and your Grimoire would make quite a lot on the black market." More chains wrapped around my body as he gagged me with a cloth before a pair of chins pinched my tail making my whole body freeze up as I was further restrained, the numbing pain freezing me in in the prison. "Now for the four leaf clover."
'Yuno!' I tried to break free from my bonds but the more I fought the more my tail was pinned and pinched between the chains, one of them lifted up to my face, a blade at the end.
"Now, now. I wouldn't want to damage my goods. And you wouldn't want that either?" He taunted as the blade came a hairs breath distance from my eye.
"MMHMM!" I tried to spit out the gag only for the chain to tighten around my neck.
"You know, I've been dealing with Grimoires for a long time, and not once have I seen this symbol. Your something special, a matched set." I was pulled along the ground trying to scream out.
'Damn it! ASTA! YUNO! FATHER! LILY! PLEASE! I'M SORRY!' I screamed for help in my head as the filthy man searched for Yuno. It was sunset when he found him, in one of the old ruins as he stood off against the two Nobles.
"I'll teach you commoner your place!" He yelled as he summoned flames from his grimoire casting them at Yuno who blocked them with out even opening his own. "What?"
"Hehehe... a powerful mage your 'brother' was it? What a shame." That's when he struck the three mages, chains wrapping and slamming the two nobles into opposite walls and pinning Yuno's arms to his side.
As I was suspended in the Air Yuno looked at me with horror in his eyes. "HELEN!" He shouted.
"No yelling boy." The theif sais as the chains tightened around me.
"HMMHHPPH!" I screamed into the gag as I tried to tear through it.
"What do you want?" Yuno glared at him. "Who are you?"
The man laughed, "Just as few short years ago I was a well known magic knight. Revchi Salik. I watched your little declaration Yuno. Shame that your legend ends here." He walked over to Yuno and picked up his grimoire from the ground. "You see rare Grimoires sell for a lot, and I'm sure I can a nice forever home for your pet there. Who knows I might send your church a donation with the money I make from it. Absolve my sins and all that."
I strained against the metal as I violently tried to break free. It wasn't any good, I was stuck.
"I wonder what she might fetch, but I'll only find out once I leave here." He turned to leave when I heard something, someone running through brush and branches. My head snapped up to the banks as Asta leaped down fist clenched as he flew through the air. "Oh if it isn't the one that didn't get a grimoire."
"YOU BASTARD!" Asta fell through the air, his fist nearly impacting Revchi, but he was suspended in the air by the chains.
"How cute." The man said before throwing Asta into the wall where he slumped down. "Your siblings didn't stand a chance against me. And their Magic is over flowing from them. You want to know something? My chains can detect how much Mana a person has, and you have none, a empty well while the two closest to it are over filled." He stood over Asta, "You must have been born that way, how special, unique in your own worthless way." He kicked Asta in the face before stomping on his shoulder. "It's almost priceless."
'ASTA!' I strained against my chains only for them to tighten more, before a loud crack snapped in my chest as a rib broke. I bit through the gag and screamed in pain.
"ASTA! GET UP! YOU ARE MY RIVAL!" He shouted. "YOU NEVER STEPPED DOWN FROM ANY CHALLANGE!"
"Oh, your rival, how precious." He said as Asta grabbed in leg, a look of pure malice on his face.
"No one hurts or takes from my family." Asta brought a fist up between Revchi's legs before he could act. The man stumbled back cursing words I had never heard before. "And you have done both... no, you tried to take my family." Asta stood up, a black and red aura shrouding him as out of the air a book blackened with age and a faded cover of a... five leave clover.
"A-a grimoire?" I asked through the pain.
Asta reached out to the book as reality seemed to shift around him making him appear as a devil for split seconds, from within the pages of the book he pulled a massive sword.
"I knew he would be chosen." Yuno said as Asta stabbed the tip of the massive balde into the ground, the weapon covered in a black rust.
"I'll break you." Asta said to Revchi, his kind green eyes filled with anger.
And there we go.
