Asta yelled in pain for barely a second, I kicked the man in the stomach the force of the kick making him skid back feet tearing up the stones as Asta fell to the ground. "Killing a man in broad daylight. Gutsy I'll admit that." I put up my fists ready for a fight as the crowd made a circle around us.

"You just forced me back?" He looked at the ground, "And yet there wasn't any magic in that attack... yet I can sense your reserves." He stood to his full height the raging purple aura cracking the stones around him.

"Captain there you are." A light brown haired, with a few tips of his hair dyed green stepped up to the man. "We were looking for you." He wore a shoulder cape with the same symbol as the large man, and a green tunic.

Following the brown haired man was one with a pale white face with black lipstick, and eyeshadow, a hat covered his hair and he wore the same shoulder cape as the other man. He whispered something I couldn't make out.

"Tsk, I went to the bath room and got lost." The... captain said.

"Holy shit... I just attacked on of the Magic knight captains." I felt my heart drop, there was no way I was going to be accepted into a squadron now.

Chapter 7: The Exam: The Captains

"Hey Captain Yami, did that girl do that?" The brown haired magic knight asked as I tried to not freak out.

"Didn't use her magic as well, but... there is something about her." He stood at his full height. "Something... interesting."

I swallowed hard, as the brown haired night walked over to me. "I am Finral Roulacase. One would not expect a beauty like you to posses such power." He took my hand and kissed it.

I looked at it and yanked it away from him, a blush on my face. "I-uh-um." Things were getting weirder, I had just attacked his captain and he was flirting with... 'ME!?' I felt like I had to clean my hand as soon as possible.

"How cute, she's shy." I heard from the crowd.

"Leave her be Finral." I looked back at Captain Yami. "Let's go you two." The strange whispering man followed his captain.

"Of course Captain." Finral said before turning to me, "Meet me after the exam, I would believe that a young woman like your self needs a guide in the big city?" He said with a wink before leaving.

I just shivered. 'That felt weird.' I didn't like it at all. 'There is no way I'm meeting him after this.'

"Oh, by the way, I didn't..." He turned back to me.

"JUST GO!" I turned and left.

I got to a corner when Asta caught up with me. "Hey, you alright?"

"No!" I grabbed onto his shoulders shaking him violently with tears in my eyes. "I messed this all up! I attacked a squad captain! There is no way they will let me into a magic knight squad!"

"Whoa! Calm down!" He grabbed my shoulders. "It'll be alright. We have each others back Helen." He wiped a tear from my cheek. "And I'll find that guy later for you. Alright?" He asked

"I'm screwed." I wiped the tears away.

"No you aren't. Now cheer up you crybaby." he ruffled my hair. "Do your best alright. You have always been amazing."

We stepped out of the corner as a man with sand blonde hair and a purplish jacket walked over to us. "I can't say I envy you two, confronting Captain Yami, the God of Destruction, captain of the Black Bulls like that."

"G-god of Destruction? What on Earth did he do to gain that title?" I asked with more then a little fear in my voice.

"Well, the Black bulls are known for doing more harm then good, a whole squad of nutjobs from what I've heard." The man said, "Oh, I'm Sekke by the way. Sekke Bronzazza."

"Hi, I'm Asta, from Hage village. And this is my sister Helen." Asta introduced us to him.

"Also from Hage." I added.

"Hage? That's way out there right?" he asked.

"Yes, it took a couple weeks to get here." Asta said as Sekke walked up to me, he stood a fair bit taller then me and Asta.

"Must have been a dreadful journey. May I suggest a drink at the tavern later?" he asked as he did the same thing as Finral, kissing the back of my hand. This time my reaction was alot more... physical.

Slap!

"Oh sorry! I didn't mean to!" I covered my mouth as Sekke was laid out on the ground, my hand print on the side of his face.

"Right... no touching... got it." He said as he sat up rubbing his cheek. "Got a hell of hand on your sister." He said to Asta.

"Yeah... I've gotten it a few times." He rubbed his face in solidarity with Sekke.

"I'm sorry, I just don't like others touching me." I tried to hide my face behind my grimoire.

At that moment I was saved by the sound of trumpets filling the air and turning our heads to the balcony.

"That's Nozel Silva, Captain of the Silver Eagles." Sekke said looking as a man dressed in mostly white clothes, a blue cape with a feather collar, well done silver white hair that had a elaborate braid in front of of the bridge of his nose. His face unmarred, perfect as a royal should be.

"How dose he see with that hair in his face?" I asked.

Sekke continued, "Fuegoleon Vermillion, Captain of Crimson Lions." He wore fine clothes under a solid red cape that spilled around his body, fine orange hair with his bands to one side, his face defined like the namesake of his squad. "Like his name suggests, he is a master of Fire creation magic."

"Wow." Asta said in awe.

Next to sit down was a thin man, simple clothes under a green squad shoulder mantle, the squads insignia on one side. He had a red scar over one eye and his disheveled hair was loosely tied back. "Jack the Ripper, he is the Captain of the Green Praying mantises." Sekke informed us

"What's a pray mantis?" Asta asked.

"That long thin green bug that the females eat the heads of the males when they mate." I said of the top of my head.

"Why do you know that?" Asta asked me.

"Eric's wife let me read her books when I was on break back home." I said flatly.

"Captain Jack can rend the very earth in two with his severing magic." Sekke told us.

"Whoa! That's amazing!" Asta and I said at the same time.

"Praying Mantises though, seriously? Who want's to be named for a bug? That's almost as bad as being named for a vegetable." Sekke said... and for some weird reason... I felt offended by the vegetable remark.

After Jack the ripper was a beautiful woman, her shining armor detailed finely and blonde hair braided on one side of her face, a gold rose clip holding her royal blue cape on her shoulders. "Next we have Ms. Charlotte Roselei, the Captain of the Blue Rose Knights. Just look! She's so beautiful, why Helen you look like you could be her squire."

"Eh, she's got nothing on Sister Lily." Asta said unimpressed.

"She's gorgeous." I said trying to hide my blush, my eyes transfixed on the captain, as she looked down into the crowd.

After Charlotte was a large man in purple and gold, grey and black. He teeth exposed in a odd look and a strange purple mask on his blocky head and face. "Gueldre Poizot, the captain of the Purple Orcas." Sekke said sounding unimpressed.

"That's all you got?" Asta asked.

"The shabbier ones don't interest me." Sekke said as he closed his eyes for a few seconds. With a rise in the trumpets came a pink wearing woman, purple hair and a white feather collar. But most notably was a large bubble from her nose. "Captain Dorothy Unsworth of the Coral Peacocks."

"Is she asleep?" I asked.

"She doesn't do anything but sleep." Sekke responded.

"Then how did she become a captain?" Asta asked.

"She must wield a incredible power invisible to the eye." Sekke told us. After the sleep walker was a young man with messy white hair and a youthful joyful face, light blue clothes made the majority of his outfit. "After her is Rill Boismortier, the captain of the Aqua Deer magic knights."

"Isn't he kinda young?" Asta asked.

"A bit, Captain Rill is nineteen years old." That fact was a surprise.

'To be a captain so young? What kind of magic dose he have?' I asked my self.

"Nineteen? Really? Just four years older then us! Yeah!" Asta laughed at this. "I'll be the Wizard King before I know it."

"Haha! The Wizard King huh? Now that's dreaming big, but as the next person in line. If you look up there you'll the front runner." Sekke turned our attention to a man undoubtedly royal with robes that must cost as much as Hage it's self, a metal mask helm with white feather. "Captain of the Golden Dawn, said to be the mightiest magic knight squad, William Vangeance." Neither of us said anything. "He has his squads undying trust and loyalty. "I hear it was Captain William who took the enemy general's head in that battle a while back."

"The golden dawn are amazing, shame only nobles and royals ever join that squad." I head someone say. "Same with the Silver Eagles."

The last one on the balcony was Yami of the Black bulls, but as he passed Charlotte of the Blue rose he stopped and whispered something to her, before pointing at... me. I froze up under the gaze of the two captains, my tail tight around my waist under my dress. 'It's already over for me...'

Captain Yami took his seat and said something I couldn't make out for William Vangence to respond to him.

"All of the Captains here in one place, it's incredible." Sekke said.

But I barely heard him, as my gaze was still locked with Charlotte. Her beauty had me transfixed. "Helen, let's do our best." Asta said, but as I nodded I didn't turn to him.

"Yes... our best."

And chapter complete.
