Chapter 6: Zoo Trip
The next day after the incident with Weaselton, the 6 friends were back in Gotham and decided to visit the Gotham City Zoo. Olaf was especially excited to see all the different kinds of animals. They were currently walking through the Arctic World exhibit where all the penguins, polar bears, arctic wolves and foxes, and seals were at. Jacob especially thought this area of the zoo would be the spot for Elsa in an effort to cheer her up after the hurtful things the Dick of Weaselton just like he did during her coronation. He also hopes he didn't upset her even more after he punched that asshole in the face, which probably ended up making things worse. Jacob, Olaf, and Elsa were looking at the polar bears. "Aren't these bears cool, you guys? I wish I could give them a big bear hug! Pun intended!", Olaf said while observing the bears. "I don't think polar bears are really that cuddly, Olaf. They're pretty vicious if they need to be.", Jacob told him. "I know, but still.", Olaf said. Jacob then asked his girlfriend, "Are you having a good time, Els?". "Yes. I know, you're trying to cheer me up after what happened yesterday and it's sweet, but I'll be okay. Thanks for taking us here.", she said smiling. "And yes, Olaf, the bears are really cool.", Elsa said as both her and Jacob looked at the bears too. They then walked over to Anna, Kristoff, and Sven who were looking at the arctic wolves. They were having flashbacks to when they were being chased by the same kind of wolves when they were on their way up the North Mountain, but these ones seemed much calmer and nicer mainly because they were trained. "See, they're not so scary now, are they?", Kristoff asked Anna. "I wasn't scared at all when we dealt with those wolves.", she said. "I sure as Hell was scared mainly because I was trying to outrun those things while carrying you guys.", Sven said. "I've always liked wolves. They're pretty badass.", Jacob said as he, Elsa, and Olaf walked up to them. "I've thought so too. I was just having bad memories when they chased us up the mountain last year.", Anna said. "I'm pretty hungry. How about we all get something to eat at the Jungle Café?", Olaf suggested. A little while later, the 6 friends were all eating on a pavilion. "I'd have to say my favorite animals were the giraffes.", Anna said. "Mine were the penguins. How about you, Olaf?", Elsa asked. "I'd say the goats because you could feed and pet them.", Olaf answered. Anna looked over her shoulder and saw some lady was doing face-painting. She then motioned to Kristoff to follow her over there. "Come on, babe! Let's get our faces painted!", she said with excitement. "Oh, do I have to?", Kristoff asked with annoyance as his arm was grabbed by her. "Come on! It'll be fun and silly.", Anna said as she pulled Kristoff closer to the table. "Oh, this I gotta see!", Sven said as he followed them both. "What about you, Jake? What was your favorite animal?", Olaf asked. But Jacob didn't answer right away because he was writing something down in a notebook. "Did you hear me?", Olaf asked again. Jacob looked up and said, "Oh, sorry. My favorite animals were probably the wolves.". What are you writing?", Elsa asked as she and Olaf looked at the notebook. "Oh, I was just thinking about what Drake said the other night as far as forming my own vigilante identity and I sure as Hell don't want to be another Robin. I don't have any superpowers like you do, so I thought to do something like another animal identity. So far I've thought of Night Owl, Spider Monkey, and even The Black Wolf, but they all just don't seem to work out.", Jacob said. "Well, I'm sure you'll think of a good one.", Elsa said to him. Jacob then heard a zookeeper say, "And if you'll see on those tree limbs are our ring-tailed lemurs.". Jacob then looked over his shoulder and saw that the pavilion they were on was right next to the zoo's Lemur Island where the zookeeper and a few other people were. He saw the lemurs run and climb the tree like crazy and he thought they were incredibly interesting and he was fascinated at how agile they were. He never knew too much about those specific animals, but he was willing to learn. "Do you mind if we go check out the lemurs real quick?", he asked. "Sure, of course.", Elsa answered. "What's a lemur.", Olaf asked. "I think it's a type of monkey.", Elsa said. "No, it's not a monkey, although it is a primate like monkeys and people. Come on.", Jacob said as they got up to go across the bridge to Lemur Island. Jacob, Elsa, and Olaf were currently on the small island where the lemurs lived along with a zookeeper giving a demonstration and a few other people. "The only place you'll find lemurs in the entire world is the small island nation Madagascar off the coast of Africa and there are over 100 species of lemurs in all shapes and sizes. The most famous kind is the ring-tailed lemur which is the kind you see now. Most people mistake them to be a kind of monkey when they are actually another class of primates called prosimians which means before monkeys. They are actually the oldest known primates. Their primary diet is fruit and leaves. And if any of you are interested in giving our friends here a little snack, here are some fruit cups that have tropical mango in them.", the zookeeper said as he held out a tray of cups with mangoes in them. Jacob, Elsa, Olaf, and the others took cups and started to feed the lemurs. "Here you go, little guy.", Elsa said as she gave the lemur a mango slice and he began eating it immediately. "Here's one from me too, friend!", Olaf cheerfully said as he gave another slice to the same lemur. Jacob walked over to another lemur and gave him a mango piece with his arm outstretched. "Here you go, pal. Take it.", Jacob said to it. The lemur took the slice quickly and began eating it. He still had his arm outstretched while admiring the animal. "I must say you guys are pretty cool looking. The lemur saw he had more fruit slices in the cup in his other hand. So, he climbed on Jacob's arm and ended being on his shoulder and began picking at the fruit in the cup. This caught Jacob by surprise extremely with the animal now on his shoulder. "Aww. I think he likes you.", Elsa said in awe. "Yeah, I think you're right.", he said as he looked at the lemur on his shoulder. While looking at the animal, this gave Jacob the perfect idea for his superhero identity. After they were done at the zoo, they were going out through the exit. Jacob, Elsa, and Olaf could not stop laughing at the face paint that Kristoff and Anna had on their faces. Anna got her face painted like a cat, and Kristoff got his face painted like a tiger. Kristoff looked extremely annoyed and embarrassed since it was Anna who talked him into it. "As soon as we get home, I'm washing this crap off my face!", Kristoff said. "Oh, lighten up, will you?!", Anna said. "What about Sven? What did he get his face painted as?", Olaf asked. They all looked over at Sven who had his face painted like Batman. "I'm Batman!", Sven said in the deep voice that Bruce usually does. They all burst out laughing at that. "That was pretty good, Sven!", Elsa said. Unknown to them, they were all currently being watched by a mysterious woman in a trenchcoat and large sun hat who was standing right next to a tree. A vine then slid down the tree and began to talk to the woman who was actually Poison Ivy. Ivy was specifically focused on Jacob. The vine asked if that was him and Ivy said, "Yes, dear. That's him.". The vine suggested she take him right now, but she said, "We can't just cause a scene in public, especially with her right there. She could freeze you and your brothers and sisters in a second and I can't bear to see my babies suffer. We'll get him when we get the chance. In the meantime, we have much work to do.", Ivy said as she walked away to continue her dirty work.
