I floated over a camp site, two figures in the center of a crater blasted area bloodied corpses torn asunder at their bottoms, a fire lighting the area. "Stay with me." A man's voice said.
"I... fought as long as I could... my... lord." A woman's voice said as she she reached up the the man's face, her armor was covered in blood and scorch marks.
"No, no, no. I'm not losing you as well. Totoma Stay with me. I order to pull through. I know I was late, but..."
"Shhh, find her. Find our daughter." She said as everything faded to black, then a dark voice entered my mind.
"I know what you are, monster." The voice of what I could only describe as the Devil tore open my soul.
I sat up in a cold sweat tearing off the blind fold as I ran to the mirror, starlight filling the room as I breathed hard. "What the hell?" I gasped as I tired to dry myself. I looked into the mirror, my onyx eyes framed by my obsidian hair. 'What the hell was that?'
Chapter 11: First Day
I woke up to a loud knocking making me pull off my blind fold and cover myself self up with the sheets. Sol opened the door, her chocolate brown face looking over at the bed. "Up you get... oh." She had a smirk as I blushed on my bed barely covered.
"I'll be out in the moment." I said as I pulled the sheets closer to my chest. "Just... close the door." I could feel my face heating up.
"What, we're all women here. I'll show you around the base and take you shopping this after noon, so that you have some extra clothes." She said before closing the door. I got out of bed and quickly cleaned myself up in corner wash bin. I pulled on my clothes, the black dress under my burgundy brigandine armor I fumbled with the forge iron clasps down my chest. I folded the letter and put in a envelope sealing it with the Blue Roses wax seal on my desk. I got to the door and opened it up to Sol who was waiting for me by my door.
I followed her around looking at everything but her. "You know, it's nice to get some new blood around here. Keeps things from getting boring around here." She said before leading me around the base, "We have the court yard, as you saw last night and the Main dinning hall, the Knight's individual rooms. Follow me." She said as she led me down a hallway. "Over here is the Library." She led me to a massive room with rows upon rows of exquisite book shelves and fine tomes sparkling clean as a half dozen men cleaned the room with rags and soapy water filled buckets. The grand chandeliers crafted from gold and shaped like roses.
I was surrounded by so many finely crafted tomes, carefully maintained as I walked through the room, my dress shifting as I spun around. "I've never seen so many books." I said.
"Feel free to take any that interest you, we have sciences, battle tactics, adult 'love' stories." She said.
"Why did you say love like that?" I asked as I turned to her.
She just chuckled, "You'll understand one day." She then led me through to the communal baths. "Let's get you cleaned up properly." She said as we got undressed and settled in the water, Borja sat against the wall, with a book in one hand and a hand under the bubbly water, the water was hot and the woman seemed flushed.
I settled down with my arms wrapped around me, a blush on my face as Sol settled in the water next to me... after dumping a bucket of hot water on me making me jump. When I came up from the water my hair was filled with bubbles and a great suds beard, much to the older women's amusement. I rinsed off and got dressed shaking the water from my hair.
After a while she showed me the recreational room, the armory, and the forge. I stepped into the soot filled shed, dust covered the tools. "We haven't had a man to work it in while. Most of the time we commission our armor and gear now anyways. We never have the time to fire it up ourselves."
"Can I run it?" I asked as I picked up the large anvil with ease. "I worked in my towns forge to make some extra coin, fixing wagons and stuff like that. I even mage my own armor."
"Sure, I guess if you want to. We all need a hobby. Well that's the end of the tour, you can do what you want." She said as she turned to the main building, "At least until your first mission. I'll be working with the Captain to find one for you. I'll inform her of you taking up the blacksmith duties. I'll come get you this afternoon for shopping." I shrugged as I opened my grimoire summoning a gust of wind blasting a large amount of built up dust and soot out of the small building. The metal inside had a thin layer of surface rust that would burn off once I heated the metal. I removed my armor and replaced it for a leather apron that hung in the corner the leather straps snapping from a lack of care and age. I sighed as I put it down.
"No forging today." I said as I threw it in the trash. I stepped out the building closing and latching the door behind me as I wore my armor as a open front vest. "I wonder how Asta is holding up?" I asked my self as I went to where the brooms were kept. I grabbed mine and flew up into the air circling I wondered where would be the Black Bull's headquarters. I flew around for a while. 'What would the worst magic knight squad look like?' I flew until I spotted a large rundown building, darkened with age, misshapen and seemingly built one room at a time. I flew in closer before landing in the yard, only to hear shouting.
"YOU CRAZY BITCH! YOU JUST ATTACKED YOUR SUPERIOR OFFICER!" I came round a corner and looked in a side entrance at the commotion. Just inside the door way was three people, a silver haired girl throwing down the robes of the black bulls, a man with grey and black hair, yet he didn't look old, rather he looked like a street punk with a small scar on the top of his forehead, and shades. He was soaking wet and there was a crater in the wall. And Asta was standing there in a state of shock.
"I quit this stupid squad!" She stormed past me not even paying me any mind.
"HEY! APPOLOGIZE TO THE ROBE!" The man yelled.
"I gave everything for these robes, and she just threw it away." Asta said quietly.
It was then I spoke up. "Um... should I go?" I asked.
"Oh, would you look at that! A blue rose to give us grieve about losing a female member!" The man yelled.
"Oh, Helen!" Asta snapped out of his semi trance. "What are you doing here?"
"Mostly to make sure that you survived the night." I admitted as I stepped in side. "And you are?"
"I'm Magna Swing! Captain Yami's right hand man, and you are?" He asked calming down.
"I'm Helen, Asta's older sister." I said. "If you don't mind me asking, what... was that?" I asked.
"Stuck up Royal that doesn't know to appreciate how good she has it!" Magna yelled.
"Oh, so you came my beauty?" I instinctively kicked back before I turned around, Finral was knocked out upside down in a tree with my foot print imprinted into his face.
"I'm sorry!" I blushed as I rushed to get him down.
"That happen often?" Magna asked Asta.
"No, not really. People don't flirt with Helen back home." Asta admitted for me as the green dressed night fell out of the tree... just missing my arms and hitting the ground.
"I... I'll just go." I said as I grabbed my broom and flew off. "I have to meet up with Sol."
Just a short fun chapter.
